No definitive answer exists to this question as there are many variables that can affect how far a lawn bowl travels. The weight of the bowl, the type of surface it is rolling on, the speed at which it is rolled, and the amount of spin applied to the bowl can all play a role in how far it travels. In general, however, it is generally accepted that a heavier lawn bowl will travel further than a lighter one. This is because the extra weight provides more momentum, which helps the bowl to keep rolling for longer. If you are looking to maximise distance, then,
When it comes to lathes, size does matter—at least when you’re talking about the lathe’s swing. Swing is the distance from the center of the spindle to the edge of the lathe bed. The larger the swing, the larger the bowl you can turn. Most lathes have a swing of between 12 and 20 inches, which is plenty for most projects. However, if you want to turn larger bowls, you’ll need a lathe with a swing of 24 inches or more. Of course, you’
A wood lathe should be high enough off the floor to allow the wood to clear the floor when it is spinning. The lathe should also be high enough that the operator can comfortably work on the wood.
There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on a number of factors, including the woodworker's experience, the complexity of the project, the materials used, and the location. However, a general guideline is that a woodworker should charge between $25 and $75 per hour.

I'm really liking this lathe so far. started turning pens in September 2017 and have thus far produced roughly 60 of them. It's a sturdy piece of equipment. The only drawback to this lathe is that you have to turn it off and reset the belt to the proper speed in order to change the RPMs. I would have chosen the Jet Variable Speed lathe in the same 1015 series if I had known better because I am new to the hobby. An excellent product overall. You get what you pay for even though it is more expensive than your entry-level lathe.

Optimally Designed speed ranges
Unrivaled speed Control
Innovative ratchet style belt tension system (patent pending)
60 to 3600 RPM variable speed
Forward to reverse is a smooth transition

The variable speed system and the ability to reverse were the main reasons the lathe was purchased. For the various speed ranges, I discovered that replacing the belt was quite simple, and the locking mechanism is excellent. Although I'll make do without a little larger LCD screen and speed knob, It takes a moment or two to pick up speed, but once it does, it moves smoothly and quietly. The banjo and tail stock move effortlessly and lock with no difficulty. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the lathe and would have given it five stars if it didn't need a mounting hole. The lathe is fantastic, however be aware that the shipment may be subpar. The lathe's lack of quality control, which results in the loss of one star, is my only criticism. For the purpose of the supplied bolts, three of the mounting holes are threaded, while the fourth hole is, in all actuality, nonexistent. It was either never drilled and tapped in the first place or it is now filled with something. It shouldn't have ever been designed in such a way, as mounting it to the stand uses only three bolts. I have a few (expensive) Jet tools in my collection, but this is the first one I've purchased that wasn't of exceptionally high quality. My main worry, as the photographs demonstrate, was how the lathe was handled during shipping. The banjo and tail stock both fell free after the box (weighing around 140 lbs) was dropped multiple times; thankfully, the only damage was some paint being scraped off. When the box was delivered, pieces fell out, and after the UPS vehicle drove away, one was discovered in the street. Only the indentation where the straps had formerly been revealed their presence; the other straps were gone.

Love the lathe. Since I don't have a dedicated workspace, I needed a lathe that was both portable and compact enough to accomplish more than tiny projects on it. READ THE MANUAL, as has been stated in other reviews. The majority of the issues people raise in their evaluations are ones that are addressed in the manual. For instance, until you get the tailstock to extend a little bit (I had to tug) so you can put the lock in place, it will appear to be inoperable. The lock operates flawlessly once it is in the groove. I merely applied some white pigment to the mark on the speed knob to increase its visibility. One word of caution: the delivery on this rare occasion was TOTALLY botched up by Amazon. We changed our plans for the day in order to wait as they had promised. I contacted assistance in the evening and was informed that it had been postponed (this information wasn't provided until after 9PM). We would have had our day back if they had immediately updated the status. The van arrived bright and early the following day. NOT using a lathe. The package had likely been left at the pier because of its weight. Much more expressing our discontent with others around us in conversation. My driveway camera captured evidence in the late afternoon that they had obviously followed my advice when what appeared to be a personal car pulled up with two boxes in the back. One came to me, while the other went to the person they had offended.

Please take that for what it's worth as this is the first lathe I've ever used.I recently established a new business and use this lathe virtually every day. Since a few weeks have passed, I have absolutely no problems. It does precisely what I need it to do, has a respectable amount of power, and was well-centered.The tool rests are designed with a "texture" that extends to the top where your tools are intended to glide easily and evenly to provide a clean, smooth surface on what you're turning. This seems to be an issue with most tiny lathes, and I don't understand why manufacturers would do it. My work is now much better because I spent an hour smoothing down the texture on both of the included tool rests and filing off the texture around the top edge. The situation is still fine. The built-in live center did need to be replaced. Everything I was working on began to wobble since it had flimsy bearings. It runs straight and is much quieter thanks to a NOVA chuck on the head and a respectable triple bearing sealed live center in the tail.NOTE: This is not the lathe you're seeking for if you're looking to turn large or extremely hard chunks of wood. For small objects like pens, rings, and tiny bowls, this is excellent. Increase the speed and make more shallow cuts, making sure your tools are good and sharp, if it keeps stopping on you. It'll finish the task.

I'll keep this brief and to the point:Delivery was precise and earlier than anticipated.Great bargain despite the fact that I was unaware of the expense of US shipping, which effectively quadrupled the price.Product: Other than adding another strap evenly spaced on the upper half of the pouch (so you don't need to fold it over to wrap it and strap it), the pouch is exactly as pictured and feels quite durable for the price. Nevertheless, it works perfectly for what I need it for—organizing my spanners.Overall: I would absolutely suggest this product and this seller to anyone. For the price, if and when this one has reached the end of its useful life, or when I need more spanners, I would buy it again.

works well in terms of value. It works well for something soft like that, and it is ideal for what I require when I use it to convert new wine cork material. Using tools that aren't the best but were expected, I can stop the lathe from cutting with some force. It doesn't bother me because I work carefully, after honing the tools on a tool grinder, and a little patience helps with the cutting process. With that much force, I'm starting to harm my turning project. Overall, it's a decent little lathe for light-duty hobby work. It is compact, takes up very little room, and is made of a pretty high-quality material. Although I haven't tested it with wood yet, I'm confident it would work. To minimize cutting, I would advise starting with the fundamental design and working down from there.

I'm new to turning and am learning a lot. Although it lacks bells and whistles because it is a machine for beginners, it is still a highly capable machine. It is both calm and potent. To use self-centering chucks, you can alter it to require and purchase an adapter from 3/4" 10 TPI to 1" 8 TPI. It takes time to change speeds because it calls for changing belts, ratchets, and sockets. For beginners, you simply accept it and move on, but if you gain experience and develop a passion for turning, another lathe will be delivered. This is too good to throw away, so you'll keep it instead. The money was well spent.7/5/19The modifications are annoying and time-consuming, but for the money invested, it's still a great deal. I've used it a little more and like it.
There is no simple answer to the question of whether or not it is better to have a faster lathe. The answer depends on a variety of factors, including the type of work being done, the skill of the operator, and the quality of the lathe. In general, however, a faster lathe will be able to complete tasks more quickly and with less wear on the tooling.

Most wood lathes come with bolts that can be used to attach the lathe to a workbench or other sturdy surface. This can be helpful in preventing the lathe from moving around while you're working. Whether or not you should bolt your wood lathe to the floor is largely a matter of personal preference. Some woodworkers prefer to have the lathe bolted down for stability, while others find it easier to move the lathe around the shop as needed. If you do decide to bolt your lathe to the floor, be sure to use the proper size and type of bolts for
There is no definitive answer to this question as it will depend on the particular bowl gouge you are using, as well as the desired outcome. However, as a general guide, it is recommended that the bowl gouge be set at an angle of around 45 degrees. This will allow for a more aggressive cut, while still providing a good level of control.
There are many brands of wood lathes on the market, but which one is the best? It really depends on what you are looking for and what your budget is. Some of the top brands include Jet, Powermatic, Delta, and Grizzly. Each brand has its own pros and cons, so it's important to do your research before making a purchase. Ultimately, the best brand of wood lathe for you is the one that best meets your needs and fits your budget.
