Are all sanding discs the same?

Can you put a sanding pad on a grinder?

You can put a sanding pad on a grinder, but it is not recommended. The reason is that the grinder can cause the sanding pad to spin too fast, which can lead to damage.

How do you convert a grinder to a sander?

One way to convert a grinder to a sander is to attach a sanding disc to the grinder. Sanding discs are available in a variety of sizes and grits to suit the needs of the project. Another way to convert a grinder to a sander is to use a flap disc. A flap disc is a disc that has abrasive material on both sides. The flap disc will fit onto the grinder just like a sanding disc.

How long does a sanding disc last?

A sanding disc typically lasts anywhere from 20 to 40 abrasive sanding operations. The lifespan of a sanding disc depends on the type of material being sanded, the amount of pressure being applied, and the speed at which the disc is being rotated.

Mirka 9A-241-120 6-Inch 120 Grit Mesh Abrasive Dust Free Sanding Discs, Box of 50 Discs Review:

These mesh sanding disks with 120 grit are excellent. The grit is firmly affixed to the mesh and maintains its sharpness. The mesh endures well, however as more dust passes through the mesh, I find that I need to replace the sander's dust collection more frequently. I'm creating a comprehensive variety of these sanding disks in various grits. They hold up so well that the extra cost is well worth it.

DRILLPRO 70Pcs Sanding Discs Set, 2 inch Roloc Quick Change Discs with 1/4 inch holder, Surface Conditioning Discs for Die Grinder Surface Strip Grind Polish Burr Finish Rust Paint Removal(Updated) Review:

I've never ordered one of these kits before. The 2inch was what I chose as a suitable entry-level set. Use them for several do-it-yourself auto repairs. Most of the grits in my kit were labelled, and a straight shank was included. The purchase has thrilled me. A variety size pack is available on Amazon, and since some individuals have a problem with bent shanks, I recommend getting it. I'll be getting smaller sizes in addition to that.

ABN Aluminum Oxide Roloc Abrasive Sanding Discs 50-Pack, 2in, 36 Grit – Metal Wheels for Surface Prep and Finishing Review:

These are fantastic things! The larger version of these for 4 or 5 inch sanders has really grown on me. Imagine my shock and joy when I discovered them to be roloc disks. I purchased both the 2 and 3 inch versions, but I've already gone through all of the 2 inch versions and had to place another order. Inertia is my only problem. Sometimes the disk continues to spin after the tool has stopped, which turns the tool off. It's not a big deal; you simply need to stop carefully. I do need to track down a few who escaped and vanished, but that is simply humorous. They are fantastic for working in confined locations.

Kutzall Extreme Shaping Disc - Coarse, 4-1/2" (114.3mm) Diameter X 7/8" (22.2mm) Bore - Woodworking Angle Grinder Attachment for DeWalt, Bosch, Milwaukee, Makita. Abrasive Tungsten Carbide, SD412X90 Review:

I don't often write reviews. However, this far above my expectations that I felt compelled to write:- It is sturdy and superbly balanced. In fact, the tool is kept straight by being so precisely balanced that it almost has a gyroscopic effect.- For what it accomplishes, specifically, it is surprisingly quiet.- It produces fine sawdust instead of the large chunks I anticipated. Despite being the coarse model, it produced an unexpectedly smooth finish.- Even so, it appears cool.My application was for a 1-1/2" wide by 1/2" deep slit that I wanted to cut out of the inside of an 8-foot column wrap that I made for the porch columns. Another of the columns required a variety of tools, and it took forever (maybe 45 minutes). I finished the task with this tool in around three minutes.Although this item and ones like it do appear a bit pricey, given the time saved, it's difficult to argue that it wasn't worth it.

12 Inch 80 Grit Adhesive Back Aluminum Oxide Multipurpose Sanding Discs, 5 Pack Review:

It's a small issue, but sometimes it can be difficult to remove the backing. To solve this problem, a tiny tab was added. Having said that, I frequently purchase these for my fabrication shop. If you don't abuse them by pressing too firmly and repeatedly into the disc, they endure a very long time. I work with stainless steel exhaust headers frequently, and I require very smooth, spotless joints, which they achieve superbly. I also use grit 40.

Scotch-Brite 07481 Roloc 2" x No Hole Aluminum Oxide Medium Grade Surface Conditioning Disc, 25 count Review:

I use a lot of these for my side business (restoration work on guns and antiques). These cannot be purchased in bulk locally, and purchasing them separately is highly expensive. Amazon is now the greatest online store I've discovered for buying these. These, I believe, came from TCP Tools via Amazon (cheaper than buying directly from them).
