I am looking to buy a new miter saw and I have been considering a Ryobi. I have read some reviews online and it seems like people either love them or hate them. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with Ryobi miter saws and can tell me if they are any good.

Right out of the box, this saw was really accurate. For cabinets and finish trim, I use it. The depth and length of the cuts this saw allows me to make are incredibly satisfying. If you don't abuse the provided blade, it should work just fine for normal carpentry and last you a long time. I changed to a Freud 100 teeth finish blade because I needed a better cut finish and now I get perfect cuts. Especially at $200, I don't need the laser or XPS cutline that comes with the 780 saw. The carry handle on the saw's top is something I truly enjoy. I turn the saw to the extreme miter position to better align the body with the base and make it balanced enough to be held in one hand by the handle. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this equipment and am glad I purchased it.

Okay, I'll introduce this review. Except for one thing that you should all be aware of, I love the saw. I've used saw for a few rather large projects already, and overall it has improved my working environment. Unless DeWalt comes up with something even better, I'd buy it again. Having just a 7.25 "In terms of capacity, I wasn't anticipating any miracles, and I mostly purchased it to cut little trim that didn't require lugging about a heavy saw. Everything was set up precisely right out of the box; I only needed to make minor adjustments to the scale pointers (the saw made excellent 90 and 45 degree turns and bevels in both directions). Just to make it read more clearly for ME, I adjusted the pointers. Even those could have been ideal for another person. The blade that comes with it is fine; it's a high-quality DeWalt carbide blade, but I was doing very fussy cabinet/trim work at the time, so I wanted the finest cut/highest tooth number I could find. I also put the thinnest, highest-toothed carbide finishing blade that I could find on it. The blade indication with shadow light works flawlessly and is much more precise than a normal blade laser. One minor complaint: the switch to turn on the light is stiff and more difficult to use than it should be. It is hidden by a little rubber dust and moisture-proof cap that is too small for my thick fingers.What then is the issue? DeWalt claims that the saw has a 3-1/2 "a baseboard that is raised. Folks, it can, but only on one side of the blade and only in one location on the saw. This is occasionally useful, but generally speaking, using this saw to cut baseboard requires a lot of flipping, lying down (and using the bevel), flipping it upside down on the left, or performing other gymnastics that are not necessary with a larger saw. That strategy has a significant flaw, as many 3 1/2 "The base you purchase is NOT parallel facing, so you cannot make a cut with the face against the fence and a second cut with the back against the face and obtain the same result. So I pick a 12 instead "Scrap that (or something like it) and flip it with the orientation I truly need. You may trustably reverse the cut since the parallel sides produced by the two thicknesses—one up, one down—are real. The typical DIY user wouldn't know how to do it and would therefore produce wildly uneven results. Not a big deal, and I wouldn't expect it in a tool that costs less than $300. The motor would need to be severely offset in some way to provide you the same clearance beneath the right of the blade. Therefore, the capacity description is inaccurate. A skilled trim carpenter can manage it, but switching from a 10 or 12" blade to a 7.25" blade does require some sacrifice. This saw is an excellent addition to a larger saw, not a replacement for it, if that makes sense. Sadly, it cannot trim dadoes or kerfing (lock the head partially down), which is another feature I wish it could perform. Nonetheless, a fantastic little saw. Just don't anticipate using it as your only miter saw.

All I could ask for as a beginner and miter saw newb was this. I gave it five stars even though it isn't fancy or decorated since I wouldn't know what to do with one that is. The laser is spot-on and has an on/off switch, which is an excellent alternative for beginners. I also wonder how many complaints about these saws' burned-out motors are the result of people using improper extension cords for a 15 amp saw. These cannot be used with the same type of cord that you would use for your Christmas lights. Power in line loss increases with cord length. A stressed-out motor is not supplied with adequate power to do the task for which it was designed when the gauge is smaller. For this saw, invest in a 12/3 or 10/3 outside cord to prevent motor burnout. The better for your saw and less line loss is caused, the shorter the extension cord. To complete my home workshop, I've been looking for a miter saw. I examined every brand presented, but as I did not want to spend $500 on a well-known brand saw, I focused on what was offered in the $200–$300 price range. I was so happy I took a chance on the Tacklife 12" sliding compound miter saw and I'm glad I did! First, unlike some companies, they made sure to securely package their saw for shipping. The box was sturdy, and there were styrofoam cutouts inside that made sure to hold the saw firmly in place no matter how roughly the box was handled.

I need a technique to cut wider boards (wider than the Craftsman 8") even if my old Craftsman compound mitre saw still functions "max) without attempting to turn the board over or make a table saw cut. Dewalt at age 16 "Cut depth is extremely accurate and can handle a significantly wider range of board widths. Compared to my craftsman, this saw operates considerably more quietly, accurately, and smoothly. The shadow line, which illuminates your cut area and indicates where the blade will cut, is another obvious enhancement. Cutting within 1/64 is simple "by means of the shadow line. At $499, the cost was reasonable at the time. I only have a few drawbacks. The saw is so powerful that the saw arm flies down into the wood before you are prepared when you position your cutie, drop the blade down to the cut, and pull the trigger. Just be sure to pull the trigger far enough above the work item before lowering the blade for the cut. The depth required to set this up on a work bench would be a second drawback. I own a 24 "It won't fit on a deep work bench. 36 are about right "bench height Although somewhat inherent in all sliding mitre saws, this one's just a little worse because it has a 16-inch blade "cutting depth To accommodate the additional depth if I use it on the bench, I put more wood to the top of my workbench (I also purchased the Dewalt stand, fantastic!). In other evaluations, it was stated that sawdust accumulated on the two rods that the ball bearings slide along. All of these sliding saws appear to employ the same technique. I find it slips pretty easily right out of the package. I put 1 out of caution because I only use the sliding 5 to 10% of the time "insulation to these round rods through i.d. conduit. It costs only $2.50 for 12' and completely covers the rods, sealing at each end (see pic). If I require the sliding feature, it merely takes a couple of minutes to remove them. I 1/8-cut the pieces "longer than necessary so that it would fit snugly. I'm quite delighted with my purchase overall and would strongly recommend it!

To do some flooring and trim work, I required a miter saw. I'm certain I'll apply it to additional do-it-yourself tasks. I looked in many big-box retailers for a miter saw but refrained from purchasing one because I knew I would only sometimes use it. For the price, it works well and cuts squarely. Because of its small weight, it could be moved around easily. I'll say that the base and plastic are both thinner, which contribute to the item's light weight. Due to the manufacturer's lack of response to my communication with them regarding a potential safety issue, I can only offer this product two stars. While I mention the blade hold down device, I'm talking about when the saw is in storage or being transported. Who knows how long it will endure because the locking pin, which is inserted into a socket by a spring, is broken, and the pot-metal socket housing flexes even when the bolt is locked in the down position. I'm not sure if I would want to hold the handle. Safety and quality assurance don't seem to be this company's main objectives. I sent a description and photographs of my problem via the company's contact us page, but I got no response, so I decided to publish this for other customers. Although I didn't purchase this item anticipating a Dewalt or other premium brand, I did anticipate that it would be well-made.I have revised this review to reflect that the company's reaction to my email was excellent and that they did so within 24 hours of my email becoming lost in the cloud. They not only provided an RMA to return the damaged item, but also replaced the subpar product with a brand-new one. Nothing more could have been desired.

Exceptional accessory for my Bosch miter saw!Despite the fact that I've only used it in the garage, I think the laser line is quite bright. The only thing I wish I had done differently is to buy this at the beginning of the year-long interior remodeling project (lots of trim moulding!).I think this is the best low-cost tool upgrade I've ever completed.The line is accurate, but you must be aware that the blade drops on the edge of the line rather than in the middle, thus you must pay attention to which side of the cut is the waste side as opposed to the work side.Why, oh why, did I not realize this earlier?
