Cordless hedge trimmers are becoming increasingly popular, but are they as good as electric models? One advantage of cordless trimmers is that they are much more portable than electric models. This means that you can take them with you wherever you go, without having to worry about finding an outlet. Cordless trimmers are also typically quieter than electric models, so if noise is a concern, this may be the best option for you. Another advantage is that cordless trimmers tend to be less expensive than electric models. However, one downside is that they may not have as much power
If you have a small garden, then an electric hedge trimmer is a good choice. They are lightweight and easy to use. The blades are also very sharp, so you can get a clean cut.
There are pros and cons to both gas and electric hedge trimmers. Gas hedge trimmers are typically more powerful, so they can cut through thicker branches. They also tend to be more expensive and require more maintenance than electric models. Electric hedge trimmers are lighter and quieter, so they’re easier to use for extended periods of time. They also have less of an impact on the environment. Ultimately, the best hedge trimmer for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences.
Yes, you can cut tree branches with hedge trimmer, but it is not recommended because it can damage the trimmer.

My DEWALT 20V battery-powered tools have made me very happy, especially the reciprocating saw, which has been going strong for the past three years despite the fact that I use it to trim our mangroves and remove invasive Brazilian Pepper trees. Tackle 10-inch limbs/trunks with ease by using the 12-inch Bosch 5 TPI Wood Cutting Reciprocating Saw Blades. The task is made easier by the excellent balance, effective blades, and reliable power provided by the 20V batteries.I got this DEWALT 22-inch hedge trimmer and excitedly put it to the test because my electric driven Black Decker trimmer was nearly worn out and my Stihl gasoline powered hedge trimmer was becoming too heavy. Darn! I anticipated their hedge trimmer to function similarly based on the power my sawzall generated. Unfortunately, it appeared to operate at a considerably slower speed, which is likely because the 22-inch blade must require more power to move than the reciprocating saw's 12-inch blade.Although it is extremely lightweight and has excellent ergonomics and balance, it lacks the cutting power I was hoping for. Although the blades are sharp, it takes extra work because the hedges I'm trimming require more than one pass to complete the task. When compared to the gasoline and corded trimmers, that effectively doubles my workload. Even though the battery-powered machine is lighter, it is still annoying to have to repeat the process again. To find out if doubling the battery capacity (while adding weight) will have the desired cutting effects, I'll be curious to test out a 40v model. It's simply not possible to maintain my tools in the 20V range. Good attempt, DEWALT, but it doesn't appear like this will provide adequate power for the task at hand.

[CUTS TWICE AS NICE] The dual-action blades cuts once, then catches that branch again on the way back, just to make sure. For a trim that’s twice as clean, twice as powerful, twice as fast
[DESIGNED TO ABSORB VIBRATION] A ¾†blade gap gets around those branches and rips right through them, while the overmold construction on the grips dissipates all that power so you hardly feel a thing. It makes for a smoother cut with very little fatigue in your arms and hands
[GRAB N’ GO] The D-grip handle lets you hold it from any angle and cut from any position that’s comfortable. Plus, it gives you the leverage to hoist it up high for the tops of tall hedges, or hold it down low for undergrowth
[22†OF CUTTING REACH] Enough length for flat tops and long, even sides. Yet still nimble enough to round the corners. We didn’t arbitrarily pick 22â€â€”we think it’s just right
[CUT THE CORD] You don’t have to worry about doubling back and catching the cord. (Yikes!) Enjoy the freedom of cordless, rechargeable, power gardening tools equipped with Power Share batteries. Speaking of which…
[LIGHTWEIGHT BUT POWERFUL] Ergonomic perfection: Tough yet comfortable to use, and long enough to make short work of your hedge trimming duties
[SAME BATTERY, EXPANDABLE POWER] The included 20V rechargeable battery can be used on any of the power or lawn and garden tools in the WORX Power Share platform

Here is my wife's assessment on this item:I purchased this after reading the 68-year-old woman's review here. I reasoned that if she could use it, I could too. I'm in my 40s, yet I'm short, lazy, and abhor yardwork like the plague. I have a little farm where I reside, therefore I typically believe that I can adopt a goat to cut back any overgrowth. But recently, blackberries and other shrubs and trees have very much taken over my road as well as the path from my house to my barn. In addition to not enjoying getting bushes thrown in my face, the garbage collection service informed us that we should cut our driveway so as to prevent damage to their garbage truck. Additionally, I assumed I would need to perform some trimming because I currently don't have time for a goat. There has to be a better way, I thought after dejectedly staring at my manual clippers. (Yes, just like an infomercial dummy.) I therefore performed some research on Amazon and purchased this small quantity.Anything more difficult to use than an electric toothbrush was not something I wanted. I didn't want to bother with cables, fuel, or reading directions. I didn't want anything cumbersome or awkward. This was the ideal solution. I plugged in the batteries, put on my safety glasses, and started working. It was so simple to switch hands and directions with this trimmer, and it effortlessly cuts through shrubs. I even had no trouble cutting through some rather large branches (larger than 3/4 inches across). It remained fully charged after 45 minutes of use. It's actually incredibly entertaining to use this tool to thwack stuff. Therefore, if you are: - Lazy - Short - Weak - Not interested in yardworkBut also: - Don't enjoy getting poked in the face by bushes when wandering through your own yard - Don't want to hear someone complain at you for your shrubs scratching their garbage truck- Have too much going on to adopt your own goats.then this trimmer is perfect for you!Strong, tall, and motivated people would presumably also benefit much from this, though I can't comment from personal experience in that regard. Two fervent thumbs up!

To replace a Little Wonder electric 30, I purchased this "a single-sided hedge trimmer that broke down after extensive use. Given that it was only a small portion of what I paid for the Little Wonder unit, I was curious to learn if this unit could "do the job." It was more than capable and I used it for two days straight. I'm a happy guy now.The following explains why I awarded it four instead of five stars:1. Although it was marketed as cutting 1/2" material, the instruction booklet said that it was actually rated for 3/8" material, which I believe to be more accurate.2. I had to construct a quick adapter for the multi-female outlet I have on my heavy duty extension cord because it needs an extension cord with a round female outlet. To avoid being tempted to get the electric cord close to the trimmer blades, if you create your own adaptor cord, make it at least 4 feet long and slide a portion of an old garden hose over it before attaching the connector.3. If you use a high-amperage extension cord, the cord retainer is not very useful; I just tied a loop around the cord end and never had any issues.4. The instructions made no mention of lubricating the cutting blades, which I found odd given that they did include warnings about not getting oil on any of the plastic parts.5. During the two extremely hot days I used it practically continuously, the motor housing did not even become warm.6. One component that must be carefully avoided breaking is the plastic guard, which is held in place by a few tiny screws.7. Even though it takes some getting accustomed to, the rotating rear handle is quite helpful.8. The trimmer ought to have included a plastic or nylon slide-on blade guard for storage.9. To make storing the trimmer easier, it should include a hook incorporated into the back handle.10. I wish they had a $30 option "Since parts of my hedges are taller, a 5 Amp unit would prevent me from having to make numerous passes.11. I feel even better about having purchased the extended warranty because it is valid for an additional two years AFTER the original guarantee expires because the instructions state that it has a Limited Four-Year Warranty (instead of the two years advertised on Amazon). (See image.)12. Everything was well when it arrived because the unit was delivered fast and was packaged in a form-fitting carton that was then packed inside of a larger carton.13. The device is significantly lighter than my previous Little Wonder, which made using it much simpler, especially as you start to tire toward the end of the day.14. I like the red strip along the center of the blade for the same reason that I like the green color because it is extremely noticeable and makes it safer to use.

My father owned an electric hedge trimmer that, in his opinion, didn't cut very much. I once gave it a shot, and it was completely useless. Like massaging the bushes, really. The practice of utilizing manually operated shears is something I consequently inherited from him. It was a little frustrating trying to find one of those with straight blades that really sliced. After viewing a few YouTube videos on yard maintenance, I decided to try an electric trimmer. Because of the aforementioned experience, I assumed I would need to spend $70 on one of the larger ones to acquire one that could actually cut. When I was ready to buy, the 24" (22"?) B

My fifth GreenWorks 40V tool is this one. This hedge trimmer performs better than I expected, just like the others I own.Unpacking the trimmer and slipping the 40v battery in required for setup. The blade moves when you squeeze the trigger after pulling back the dead man's switch with your thumb. A blade guard is included with the product to offer security when being stored. After that, I pruned a yew hedge. Doing it was incredibly simple! The machine appeared to have enough power, was well-balanced, and produced crisp cuts admirably. I was able to swiftly flatten the top and sides. Then I attempted to hack a flaming bush with thicker stems. There were no issues; the trimmer never slowed down.I brought the trimmer to the edge of the woods, where I have hundreds of young, up to three feet tall, buckthorn shoots. I moved this trimmer over the buckthorn while keeping my distance from the plant and saw the shoots instantly topple. I was overjoyed. I operated the trimmer with one hand while extending my reach backward. Although a little more challenging, this was still extremely manageable. I swiftly removed buckthorn from around 300 square feet. The trimmer never stalled out. Every time, it made precise, clean cuts. After that, I went to several more stumps where I had volunteer growth, and the trimmer did a great job of removing those as well.I cut all the spireas that were drooping over the sidewalk as I went along the sidewalk in front of our house while holding the trimmer vertically. The process was quite simple. Six dogwoods needed to be trimmed, some of which had stems that were too thick for the trimmer, so I proceeded to the head of the road. However, by running the trimmer over the thick branch, the wood was eaten away, and the thick stem soon collapsed as well.I used to trim sidewalks with my Craftsman Electric trimmer and a 200-foot extension cable. I've even used the trimmer to cut an extension cord once. But today, everything has changed. I put the 40v battery in and am now prepared to trim. Also more quickly than before is trimming.Trimming is so quick and simple due to this simplicity and performance that I now trim after every other mowing rather of only once or twice a year. The yard looks fantastic!

Don't plan to trim for longer than 10 minutes as this will tire you out. You are better off getting an arbor ladder, which is more stable than a standard ladder, and using this unit without the pole for more control. This unit is VERY heavy when using the pole fully extended. It may just be a matter of getting used to the weight. Yes, it does an excellent job of cutting, and one shrub trimming task was enough to pay for itself. If the house has an electrical outlet outside, just use an extension chord to get started. Mostly gave it five stars for the affordable next-day local delivery. Very good shipping feature; it cuts well and is lightweight when used in hand-held mode. Although I have chopped 3/8 to 1/2 branches with this without issue, I do believe the Black and Decker 22 inch with spinning head is a superior option for ease of cut. The pole trimmer does pay for itself in a pinch without a ladder, but any trimming task will always require a ladder. Pricey, but worth it! best guidance? The simplest approach to effectively trim overgrown tall shrubs and small trees is to purchase a 4 or 6 foot arbor ladder and the lightest hand held trimmer you can find.

Only because the anticipated shipment date for the item was too far away did I purchase it from a nearby brick and mortar store. Through Amazon and the big home improvement retailers, I conducted a lot of research. The number of reviews on Amazon made me a little dubious, but I decided to give it a shot. Evidently, there aren't many 20V lithium-powered hedge trimmers with this length that cost about, if not less than, $100. Its greater power than my electric trimmer caught me off guard. It was also quite lightweight, which made trimming my hedge quicker and easier because I didn't have to deal with that dreaded rope. Usually, after cutting with the electric, my arms are exhausted (holding the cord, balancing the heavy trimmer, making several passes because it would not cut well with the first or second pass). In contrast, this trimmer. I'm not joking when I say that it easily cut through the shrub and that I finished in about half the time.Again, before purchasing this trimmer, I did A LOT of research.I never make impulsive purchases like these. No matter how big the job is, I truly do not think there is any reason to seek elsewhere if you want a trimmer for household use.Highly suggested.

I got this handy small trimmer specifically for trimming the six tiny boxwoods in my foundation plantings. I form them into somewhat larger than basketball-sized orbs. I needed a tiny, portable trimmer that could give me the precise contouring I needed. This trimmer just won't cut the leaves at the surface, no matter how many angles I use or trimming techniques I utilize (back-and-forth, up-and-down, jabbing). Perhaps the trimmer's cutting ability could be better utilized if I were interested in hacking at the boxwoods. However, this item is ineffective for simply cutting the surfaces. I have no experience utilizing the grass-trimming attachment, so I can't comment on how it functions. I'll just add that it seems to be well-made. Simply put, it doesn't work for my position.Update from 7/6/16 For the previously mentioned reasons, I first gave this trimmer a 2-star rating. But now I'd like to give it a four-star rating. This is why: The only purpose for which I purchased this was to perform fine trimming on the six boxwoods I have in front of my house. The trimmer attachment wasn't very useful. After that, I used the lawn trimmer attachment, and it worked great! The lawn trimmer surprised me by doing such an excellent job of trimming the boxwoods. I apologize for the earlier review. I should also mention that Sun Joe customer care got in touch with me on their own initiative and essentially said, "We'll do whatever it takes to make you happy." It turned out that the company was more amazing than the goods.

This handheld trimmer is useful, practical, and transportable. Even though my husband has a long electric "string" grass cutter, it was just too much labor to set it up and lug the extension cord around the yard, so I would use shears or cutters to trim the margins where the lawn mower couldn't reach. So long as the grass isn't damp or too dense, this lightweight and portable grass shear is effective, albeit I wish it were a little more robust. Smaller bushes can also be trimmed with the shrub trimmer. Its cordlessness and rechargeability are appealing to me. The indicator lights are red when it is charging and green when it is finished. It is relatively simple to switch out and install new attachments, such as grass or shrub cutters, to the motor. The safety lock switch functions well because, in order to start it, you must simultaneously push it and the "on" switch. Once it has started, you can release the safety lock switch. Additionally, the system has a security key that may be removed to prevent it from turning on. What I really appreciate about it is that now, if I have a little spare time, I don't hesitate to go outside and trim the grass and plants in the garden.
Yes, you can use a hedge trimmer to cut bushes. The trimmer will quickly and easily cut through the branches of the bush, leaving you with a neatly trimmed bush.
Hedge trimmers can last for many years if they are properly maintained. Blades will need to be sharpened regularly and the trimmer itself will need to be cleaned and lubricated according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Most hedge trimmers can cut branches that are up to ½ inch in diameter. Some models can cut branches up to ¾ inch in diameter.
A 20 volt hedge trimmer is powerful enough for most trimming jobs. It will provide enough power to cut through most branches and leaves.
The three types of hedge trimmers are electric, gas, and manual. Electric hedge trimmers are the most popular type. They are easy to use and maintain, and they are less expensive than gas hedge trimmers. Gas hedge trimmers are more powerful than electric hedge trimmers and can be used for larger projects. Manual hedge trimmers are the least expensive option, but they require more effort to use.
