Best PlayStation 3 Game Joysticks in 2020

GameShell, Open Source Portable Game Console, Modular DIY Kit, Ideal for Indie Game Developers, Hackers and Retro Games Collectors (Red) Review:

I have always heard that this is an overpriced retro game console, and if your sole intent is to play game roms, this is, while an excellent device for it, a touch pricey. However, if you find yourself interested in modding, the DIY scene, making your own games, or most any other crafty tech based hobby, this thing is incredible. Through the amazing folks over on the GameShell forums, as well as StackOverflow, I can now navigate the linux system, and have even written code for the device. As for construction, I have been modding gameboys for 2 years, trying to make a pleasing way to play my roms, the Gameshell knocks it out of the park. This has the most polished feel of any product I've held in recent years, and thats even after building it yourself. I have no bad feeling for this product whatsoever, I only wish I'd gotten to the kickstarter!

Mayflash F300 Arcade Fight Stick Joystick for PS4 PS3 XBOX ONE XBOX 360 PC Switch NeoGeo mini Review:

EDIT: Well it has been nearly a year since I've been using this fightstick and it's still going strong, I continue to stand by my initial review.

**Here's a PS4 quick tip for anyone who doesn't know yet**
**Your PS4 controller only needs to be plugged in to the fightstick the first time you set it up. Other then that you can just plug the fightstick in and wirelessly use your PS4 controller to select the "Legacy Controller Authenticaion" within Options>Other Settings>Shortcut Settings. Just be sure to switch to "PS3/DINPUT" instead of "XINPUT" on your fightstick.**
--PS-- I can't verify if this works for XB1 since I don't have one.

The value from the low affordable price tag and ease of mod-ability is where the F300 shines! Like others have stated the stock joystick and buttons that the F300 comes with are fine and responsive, but as for how durable they are that I don't know since I modded mine almost immediately.

The modding process is very straight forward and surprisingly super easy for first timers. For any first time modders looking into it, Google and YouTube are your best friends, it's what I used as a first time fight stick modder and found that the process is pretty much the same for all fight sticks so don't be afraid to go in and switch out for the parts you want. A solid place to shop online for parts is FocusAttack, it's where I got all my parts during a sweet sales event.

Here's a list of parts that I switched out the stock ones for:
Sanwa Joystick (comes w/ octagonal gate) & Buttons (30mm)
4lbs Tension Spring
Oversized Actuator (1mm)
Circular Gate
5-PIn Female Harness For Zero Delay USB Encoder PCB
Ball-top

My only gripes with the F300 is that I have larger than normal hands and my joystick hand at times rest over the side of the top and slips at times during certain engagements. This is a personal issue that I'm adjusting to fairly easily so it's not a big deal. Also the 1st input switch at the very top left hand corner that's designated for which platform you're using has an issue with PS4. According to the provided instruction manual, the "controller icon" is the recommended option when using a 360, XBOX1 or PS4. However, this option does not work on my PS4. What does work is using the "PS3/DINPUT" option and setting up the F300 as a legacy controller in the SFV "other settings". These minor issue are too minute to take away a star from this solidly designed value fight stick.

My overall impression of the F300 is limited to a month of hands on experience backed by thousands of hours using quality parts in cabinets.

GameShell, Open Source Portable Game Console, Modular DIY Kit, Ideal for Indie Game Developers, Hackers and Retro Games Collectors (Yellow) Review:

EDIT: want to make it clear that you need to know how emulators work before you can play on this thing! How to get ROMs, how to load cores, etc. If you know how to use RetroArch, that's great, because it comes preloaded on this thing. That's how I've been loading all my games.

Love my GameShell, I got one as a present last Christmas. It can emulate just about any old console that predates the N64/Playstation era. The parts are modular and easy to swap out, replace, or modify if you're into that. I'm already considering adding a bigger battery to mine.

Pros:
- Assembly really isn't hard, just follow the diagrams and maybe look up a video tutorial
- Can run an insane number of emulators and retro games.
- Very good form factor with clicky buttons that feel great.
- Bright, backlit screen
- Great community full of tinkerers and enthusiasts
- Open source hardware and software
- Cave Story included

Cons:
- Not a good present for your grandma, you need some technical knowledge to get emulators running and load ROMs
- Emulators for some newer consoles require you to install the extra button module on the back, which makes it less ergonomic and pretty
- Not great for games in the 3D era and beyond, like the N64 and Playstation. Most things before that should be fine.

2 Pack PS3 Controller Wireless Dualshock 3 - OUBANG PS3 Remote for Playstation 3,The Best Choice for Gift (Graffiti+Black) Review:

Very pleased with the order. Right out of the box you can feel a nice quality in the weight and material of the plastic. The buttons are all pretty typical for a system controller, the R + L triggers are a bit shallow but honestly, I don't mind it for shooter gameplay. They also have a lip on them that protrudes a bit but after an hour of playing it felt regular. I have pretty big hands too. Very sensitive, I had to lower my sensitivity a bit, which honestly seems like a good thing. Connected right away to my PS4.

I got my PS4 in December and have never quite been used to the controller layout after growing up with an X Box 360. This is the perfect solution. Plus, it offers ear plug, vibration, and colored lights + wireless. I will maybe update in a week but I have a feeling if I take care of the controller (avoid drops, dust) that it should last a long time. My PS4 controller already drifted after 5 months so it can't really be any worse than those IMO.

5/5 would recommend to anyone looking for that old joystick layout and trying to save $20-$30. They have an easy warranty too.

PS3 Controller Wireless SIXAXIS Double Shock Gamepad for Playstation 3 Remote, 2 Pack with PS3 Controller Charger Cable (Black Ghost+Starry Sky) Review:

2nd UPDATE: The seller sent me a new controller. It isn't exactly like the one I originally bought, but it works. They were extremely quick to send me a replacement as well. I will be buying from them again. UPDATE: The pink one is now broke. Set it down for a minute to answer the door and now the R3 is stuck in a downward motion..... Really hard to play shooter games when my character is constantly looking down. Pretty much identical to the real thing. They come with joystick pads. I personally do not like then, but my boyfriend does, so bonus set for him! They charge fairly fast and last for a decent amount time, maybe 5-6 hours or so? Will be buying more soon for my kids.

PS3 Controller 2 Pack Wireless 6-axis Dual Shock Gaming Controller for Sony Playstation 3 with Charging Cord Review:

I bought this pack of controllers to replace my original ps3 controller. First off the price for two is still way cheaper than even a used original ps3 controller so that was awesome. Second I love the design of the lightening on the controllers. Third I like the joystick thumb covers, I just wish they were matching the colors of the controllers instead of all four of them being blue. The battery life isn’t too bad. With the controller on for several hours a night it still lasts a few days (but even if one controller dies in the middle of gameplay I have a second controller to use while the first one is charging.) Would highly recommend.

Bowei PS3 Controller Wireless 2 Pack Double Shock Gamepad for Playstation 3 Remotes, Six-Axis Wireless PS3 Controller with Charging Cable, Blue+ Purple Review:

I bought these controllers for my kid brother and I to use, and they’re great! I’m a long time fan of the DuoShock brand, and have been using their controllers for years. This is consistent with the quality I’m used to. One thing to note is that if you’re a rage quitter, you need more durable controllers than these. These last about 3 years with rough regular usage, and about 6 months with rough usage (my brother’s controller broke long before mine), so you can’t really afford to be hard on these. The thumb sticks are also really sensitive, so be careful of that.

PS3 Controller Wireless 2 Pcs Double Shock Gamepad for Playstation 3, Six-axis wireless PS3 Controller with Charging Cable by Bowei Review:

It sync well with my PS3, during game play it will freeze and you will have to press a pin hole button underneath the controller( a reset button) to get going again. It will go into a sleep mode if you're not using it, then just press the PS button to wake it up.My PS3 charger can't hold the controller because of the charger design,so I charged it with a UBS cable with an AC adapter, during charge time all the red lights on the controller will be flashing, and you don't know when it is fully charge, you just have to let it charge for a few hours/or when you think it's fully charged,OVER ALL IT WORKS!!!!
