Are closed or open terrariums better?

If you are looking to grow plants indoors, you may be wondering if a closed or open terrarium is the better option. While both have their benefits, closed terrariums are typically better for plant growth. Closed terrariums create a miniature greenhouse effect that helps to regulate temperature and humidity levels, both of which are important for plant growth. They also help to prevent water loss, which means your plants will be less likely to dry out. Open terrariums, on the other hand, offer more ventilation and air circulation. This can be beneficial for plants that

Are coffee grounds good for terrariums?

Coffee grounds are a good source of nitrogen for terrariums. They also help to aerate the soil and improve drainage.

Are terrariums high maintenance?

Terrariums can be high maintenance if you're not careful. If you over-water your plants, they can suffocate and die. And if you don't provide enough light, your plants will become etiolated and leggy. But if you strike the right balance, terrariums are easy to care for and make for beautiful, low-maintenance décor.

Do closed terrariums get moldy?

Closed terrariums are an enclosed environment that can be susceptible to mold growth if the conditions are right. Mold needs moisture and oxygen to grow, so if your terrarium is too wet or has poor air circulation, it can create the perfect environment for mold to thrive. If you see mold growing in your terrarium, it's important to take action to remove it and improve the conditions to prevent it from coming back.

Mkono 6-Inch Hanging Glass Planter Round Air Plant Terrarium Decorations for Succulent, Tillandsia, Candle Holder, 2 Packs Review:

I own a number of these air plant hangers that I got from various retailers. Typically, they are so fragile that getting them home is nearly impossible (think glass Christmas ornaments). Because of their larger size and higher price, I took a chance when I discovered these on Amazon. They are incredible! They arrived in excellent condition. I firmly believe that the box would not have been damaged by being flung around. The globes are made of stunning substantial glass, and because they are not fused, the hook at the top is open, making it simple to remove them for cleaning and watering. I'll be making further purchases from this firm.

Deco Glass Terrarium, Succulent, Air Plant (Large 9.8" x 6" x 8") Review:

Very nice quality and looks just like in the photographs, but you will need to deal it off first if you want to fill it with sand. I suppose the water might leak if you add soil and then wet it. I'll probably just apply some wood sealant or something to the inside borders. It should work well for my intended usage of displaying aeroplanes and sand shells.

Black Glass Geometric Terrarium Container Modern Tabletop Window Sill Decor Flower Pot Balcony Planter Diy Display Box for Succulent Fern Moss Air Plants Miniature Fairy Garden Gift (No Plants) Review:

This adorable small terrarium features a door and a lock to keep it closed. Because the joints are not water-tight, water may leak out if you have fine planting medium. To prevent the tiny gravel, sand, and other materials I am using from escaping, I found a solution by applying a thin layer of clear sealant along the bottom and lower seams. It's ideal for what I require because the seams aren't completely sealed, allowing for some ventilation and evaporation when I water my air plant. I would absolutely advise adding a mesh or filter along the floor and bottom inch or so of the terrarium, and setting it on a saucer or other dish to collect any excess water or escaping planting medium if you are planning on using a fine substrate in a circumstance where you need genuine drainage.

1 Tillandsia Xerographica Air Plant | Live Tropical Houseplant Decor for Terrarium Holder / Wedding Favors | Large Exotic Airplant by Plants for Pets Review:

I was delighted to receive a lovely, robust, and sizable plant! The air plant I received, a tillandsia xerographica, has a diameter of around six inches. Actually, it would be a little bit bigger if the ends were unfolded. There were no scrapes, dead ends, or scars when it came. A few small areas of the faint silvery coating or dusting have worn off, but I likely caused so when handling. So far, I am completely satisfied with my plant. As an unexpected treat, I also got two little plants. They arrived somewhat unharmed as well, however one of them has have a leaf that is starting to turn brown. My plant was ordered one day, and it was delivered the next! WOW! Very quick delivery. My plant was in a strong cardboard box, loosely wrapped in brown paper. The small plants fell to the ground when I unrolled the paper, so be cautious when you open the big one in case there are some smaller ones hiding! I did not anticipate the tiny ones. There are also care instructions. Once a week, I sprinkle my air plants with tap water that has sat for about an hour to reach room temperature. I use a spray bottle that emits a light mist for this. The first image below shows the area before misting with water, while the second shows the area after.I endorse this merchant and plant. I will shortly place an order for another one.

Pack of 6 Glass Planters Wall Hanging Planters Round Glass Plant Pots Hanging Air Plant Pots Flower Vase Air Plant Terrariums Wall Hanging Plant Container, 12 cm Diameter Review:

Okay. House plants are literally all over my home. Consider the "jungle on steroids." I've planted nearly every surface of a counter or shelf. What followed then? Walls, you're right. These adorable miniature globes were ideal for my needs. Which, just to be clear, is a wall of vegetation. It is exactly the 12 cm that it is advertised as being. Consider a very huge Christmas decoration. The only thing I wanted was something to fit a little space; I didn't want enormous planters hanging off my wall. They also have the ideal thickness of glass, which makes it durable without being overly heavy or thick and without feeling brittle. Some contain soil, while others are just for my water plants. In either case, they look lovely and last longer than grandma's bra.Anyone considering putting a betta in one of these is not advised to do so. For that fishy to have a decent life, they are too little. Be a responsible pet owner rather than jumping on the latest trend.I'll admit that I chose to use command hooks rather of the built-in wall hooks. For the sake of my security deposit, I don't want to drill holes in my apartment's walls. The command hooks have produced equivalent results. I employ hooks rated for 5 pounds or more. simply to be safeNot to mention, the package seemed authentic. The way this order was sealed meant that nothing could have broken. When I realized how much thought had gone into mailing this, I felt warm and fuzzy.

12 Air Plant Variety Pack - Small Tillandsia Terrarium Kit - Assorted Species of Live Tillandsia Tropical House Plants for Sale, 2 to 5 Inches Each - Air Plants for Indoor Home Decor Review:

I was displeased when I first got the order. All of the plants were brown, dried out, and curled. I carefully followed the in-package instructions, but there was no hope. I spoke with the vendor, Rob, and let him know how the plants were doing. We were experiencing weather below zero at the time, which might have played a role. If you find yourself in a similar scenario, I advise you to write the vendor before placing your order and request that he include a hand warmer or other item with the merchandise. He is a nice individual that is very easy to get along with and eager to help. He more than fulfilled his promise to the plants. It's important to abide by the provided recommendations because the plants do experience some dehydration during delivery. I'll say it again: DON'T JUST THROW AWAY THE PAPERS WITH YOUR ORDER! Along with maintenance instructions and the seller's contact information, the plants come with instructions for when you first receive them. There is no justification for this seller's or product's negative reviews. Negative reviewers either failed to contact the seller to express their dissatisfaction or failed to follow instructions. I'll keep buying plants from this seller in the future! They're wonderful presents. Purchase a clear glass container, fill it with moss, sand, and a plant, and... poof! You now possess a lovely gift that will last a long time and needs no maintenance. Receiving a present that you have to "take care of" is the worst! Who needs enemies when you have pals like them, right?

5 Large Ionantha Tillandsia Air Plant Pack - Each 2 to 3.5 Inches Long - Live Tropical House Plants for Home Decor - Indoor Terrarium Air Plants Review:

I adore my young plants. They are adorable and little. They all arrived in excellent health. The fact that they weren't damaged during shipment astounds me. In accordance with the directions, I rehydrated them after shipment by short soaking them in a dish of shallow water when they initially came. Because the tap water is overly chlorinated, I used room temperature bottled water.I still have to come up with a display strategy for them because they are too small to be used in the geometrical glass containers I got for them. I currently have them hanging on steel triangles inside 16 oz magnetic spice containers. They appear to dry out more quickly because I reside in Arizona, which is hot and dry. They are soaking in a small basin of bottled water for several hours at a time, two to three times per week, and so far they appear to be doing well. Additionally, I mist them once or twice a day.Three Month UpdateCurrently, 5 of the 6 are doing well. One has inexplicably passed away, and I have no idea why. It happened about a week after I removed a dried-out outer leaf; possibly this upset the root/base?Four Month UpdateAVOID setting them down immediately on top of live moss! I moved them out of their original homes (the magnetic wall mounted tins) as I was worried they would get too hot and dry in there as the hot AZ summer approached in an effort to find a solution to make their surroundings more humid. In the belief that the moisture provided would keep the plants healthy, I purchased some live moss. However, I think what ultimately led to the roots rotting was an excessive amount of moisture exposure at the bottoms. And using this method, I lost 3 of my plants, all of which were in excellent health before the trial. The two survivors are healthy and are hanging out on my houseplant's leaves. This appears to give the plants some protection while allowing them to completely dry. Knowledge gained!

Bliss Gardens Air Plant Terrarium - 4" Round Glass - Angel's Garden Pedestal Review:

What a cute terrarium! Very simple to assemble and just as shown in the picture. Be careful while opening the delivery because the plant was nestled in the packing paper where it could breathe, thus I kind of missed it when I unwrapped everything.Never have I owned an air plant. It is odd and rootless. You take out the tiny creature, give it some time in the water, and presto! Or simply hold it, wondering what kind of a crazy thing it is that you have a tiny, rootedless plant in your hands and nothing seems off. Or just ponder the terrarium as it sits in a sweet little bowl disconnected from everything. Simply saying, "Hey, I'm a basic plant, baptize me once a week, and we gucci," while resting on a rock. This may be the beginning of a new interest that won't worry my friends and family in the least...
