Seedling heat mats DEFINITELY boost germination rates, but they must be used in conjunction with a seedling heat mat THERMOSTAT. Due to my seedling heat mat's lack of a thermostat, I killed off or prevented the germination of many of my initial set of seedlings. They simply became too heated. Do yourself a favor and buy the thermostat as well if you choose to utilize a seedling heat pad. I had a germination rate of approximately 95% until I FINALLY gave in and purchased the thermostat. I heard that jalapenos are notoriously tough to germinate, yet I had 100% success with them. The Brandywine Red was the hardest to germinate, and I'm simply going to put that down to the seeds/type of plant as out of the 6 or 7 seeds I planted, I only managed to get 3 to sprout. Getting a head start on it entails starting some sprouts early so that there are some plants ready to be planted as soon as the weather permits. If the weather wasn't good, we had to heat a room in a log cabin we have next to our gardens, which was expensive for several months. Because they function so well and pay for themselves within the first year of use, we gave a heating pad a try and now own several from various manufacturers. We cover them at night to keep them warm and place them under LED grow lights twelve hours a day to keep the roots warm, which promotes growth. It's been successful thus far, and we'll probably soon add a few more mats. In addition, we have wrapped them over certain potted plants (like our indoor orange trees) to keep the roots warm rather than turning on the heat (I'm not sure if it was this one but they're all about the same). There are no issues other than the fact that a mat that is around 10" by 20" quickly fills up once you start using small pots. I chose 5-stars because they are effective, affordable, and they have decreased what was formerly a high heating bill.

My needs for my kombucha and kefir cultures were very straightforward, but I needed more precise temperature control than the kombucha bands offered. This was just what I needed, and there was enough room for me to arrange three sizable kombucha jars side by side. The silicon suction nub that was included with the temperature sensor was put between two jars about one-third of the way up from the bottom. I repeatedly tested the contents of the three jars using a thermometer, and the fluctuation was about 1 degree F. (typically 0.7).Although a few reviews complained about the display, mine worked well and consistently, and I've had it running nonstop for the past 12 weeks. The cords from the control unit to the wall outlet are 66 inches long, and the cord from the mat to the control unit is an even 6 feet long, giving the control unit respectable lengths of cord on both sides.Last but not least, the business is fairly proactive and attentive, having answered a few of my inquiries by email right away. Given all of this and the price, recommending this is simple.

Since I've had it for a week, I've been using it on my large snake. It won't reach the appropriate temperature and is currently displaying the error code. This is quite upsetting because my creatures depend on that heat, and my snakes will perish if it can't keep it there. I used it this winter to start my indoor vegetable garden. In my basement, it worked flawlessly with a plug-in timer. It's great that it rises and falls so effortlessly; occasionally, it becomes somewhat wonky, but straightening it out is simple. I ordered it to hasten the germination of my favorite basil, peppers, eggplants, tomatoes, and peppers. I put the seeds in my kitchen window greenhouse's Hot House (which is over the heating mat). The Jump Start Digital Controller, set at 80F, was also employed. Three days later, seedlings began to appear. All of the tomatoes had sprouted after 7 days. It took a little longer to grow peppers and eggplant. I lowered the temperature to 70F once the tomatoes were up. The seedlings are still growing, and I will soon need to move them.It is not required to water frequently because the hothouse performs a wonderful job of maintaining the soil's moisture level. Although relatively delicate, the hothouse is quite durable.The mat heats evenly and produces no "off-odors" when heated. The greenhouse in the windows does cool at night. My home state of Idaho has experienced nightly lows in the 20s this season. The mat could not sustain the desired temperature, but it managed to stay within 10 degrees of it. The established temperature was maintained when I tried transferring the hot house-mat-thermostat combination to a warmer place for one night. For convenience, I decide to leave the hothouse in the window greenhouse. The seeds were not negatively impacted by the temperature change based on the observed germination times.This product promotes seed germination effectively, and it works! With the purchase, I'm quite pleased.
