If the filter is not positioned correctly, water will enter without being filtered. My filter fit like a glove. In accordance with the instructions, you must also run cold water through the filter before using it.The pitcher must be cleaned before use. Until I poured some soapy water through everything, I was unable to remove the fill insert from the clear plastic base. After that, the insert came out easily.Why doesn't the water drain down into the bottom container from the fill area? In my situation, no. It took a minute or so. What I did observe is that there is barely enough water in the fill section to partially fill the bottom container. I then filled the top again, and the water perfectly filled the bottom.In conclusion, this pitcher is smaller in the refrigerator and has a great appearance for the table.

Compared to the standard Brita filtered water bottle, I greatly prefer this filter bottle. I was surprised to enjoy the top because it puts a step between me and my water, but I appreciate how it swings open with a touch. The water has a pleasant flavor and is simple to drink via a straw. I thoroughly washed the filter and never experienced the problems with loose charcoal particles that others mentioned. The one thing about this straw that I don't like is that when the lid is closed, it doesn't sufficiently seal the mouthpiece to stop water from dripping out the bottom when I take the top off to refill it. Instead, the water flows from the straw after a little delay, which is annoying while attempting to replenish at a public water fountain and results in water spilling occasionally all over the area if the straw is not drained. The closed mouthpiece on the Camelbak Groove filtered bottle prevented that from happening. I was hoping that the cover on this Brita bottle would achieve the same result.

Pro: Convenient size.Con: The change-filter reminder light is a pointless feature and requires another battery that will eventually need to be thrown away. It is not a filter performance sensor because it is not in any way related to the filter. It seems to only count the number of times the refill lid is opened and closed. However, since the handbook omits mentioning the assumed volume, it is obvious that it has no means of knowing how much water you actually put in there each time.

These are a more affordable alternative to the original Brita filters that appear to function just as well. The main negative is that getting them ready for use takes more work. I discovered that I had to soak them for approximately 30 minutes, run them under the faucet for a few minutes, shake them like crazy, and then run them under the faucet again for a few minutes. Anything less guarantees that the filtered water will contain dark particles, most likely made of charcoal. It's debatable if the cheaper cost warrants the added effort.

Not bad at all. The prior Brita had a small water reservoir (on the top), so it would require multiple fill-ups to get it to capacity. I replaced it with this one. I just need to fill it once to fill my Keurig coffee maker, making this one much better. The only issue I have is that the square spout occasionally sprays water everywhere, so I wish it weren't square. Holding it at an angle is the answer, haha. Only someone who lives in a first-world country would notice this small adjustment.Additionally, I had to fiddle with it a little to get the lid to snap shut. At first, I believed it was impossible, but I was able to join it such that it was in one piece and did not move around.With the authority granted to me, I thus order the elimination of one star for the aforementioned design flaws.

This is great in every way. I like this design better since it is more attractive and because it is simpler to fill than the squared-off version. The parts are self-explanatory and function effectively. filters quickly. It is too heavy to handle with one hand, but wouldn't a pitcher with a 10-cup capacity be heavy as well? Although I'm disappointed that it doesn't match my other black appliances, I won't be returning it for this reason. I will now save money and the environment by not having to lug 35 pounds of bottled water home from the grocery shop each week.

After you purchase an o-ring to seal them, they function nicely. I installed a thin rubber o-ring around the filter (most hardware stores offer these) that is reusable (I've had one o-ring for 7 filters so far) after observing the problem others have with water seeping AROUND the filter instead of through it and making sure it was firmly seated. As I press the filter in, the o-ring strengthens the seating and SEALS the filter, forcing water through it. Purchase a narrow one; it must fit between the filter and the insert area's wall. I positioned the ring approximately 3/4 of the way down "I push the filter in from the top and can feel the o-ring "rolling" up the filter as I do so, securing it firmly and tightly. **See images. About a two "O-rings are affordable. Brita should adopt this strategy and provide a tiny o-ring with each pitcher or 3 pack.I believe those who are whining about the water's quality are unaware that the filter is leaking and the water isn't actually being filtered. I can tell it's working since the water takes MUCH longer to get through the filter after the O-Ring.

Some people have criticized the short lifespan of their filters. I think I know the answer:I frequented the community pool daily when I was a teen with nothing else to do. I experimented by taking a shower after going to the pool without washing my hair because I was bored. I found that the chlorine created a gummy, thick residue that made combing my hair nearly impossible. As a result, the water's chlorine can escape before it passes through the filter. Result: In the middle of April 2017, we purchased our Zero Water pitcher. Our water's pH level is 050. Our water's filter still displays a 000. It is Friday, June 25.Whenever our filter finally needs replaced, I'll update this review. Ask Aunt Gullible to fill the water glasses while you're laying the table for dinner. Explain how the filter fills itself by removing moisture from the air within the refrigerator as she does so, and how this helps prevent mold growth in the refrigerator. Remind Aunt Gullible to check the filter after supper to see whether it is full. She will be shocked to realize the filter is full again, or at least significantly refilled, even though she knows no one has gone near the refrigerator.

The interior filter reservoir DOES come out for cleaning, as some other reviewers have noted, and it should be taken out for cleaning before first use. I really bought this to replace my Stream because it seems to filter mainly chlorine. The pitcher's included long-lasting filter delivers water with an identical level of improved taste.Although the pour spout on this pitcher is broad and unrestricted, I've never had a problem filling even ice trays. Simply angled to pour from one of the spout's corners. I also hold it with one hand while supporting it with the other on the pitcher's front and the thumb on the lid. This is especially useful if the top filter reservoir is filled with water.The absence of an indication lid, which most other versions feature, is the only drawback in my opinion. To remind you when to change, they do include a sticker for the top with a movable indicator, but I would have preferred the LED reminder. Given that this model costs the same as the Monterey, I'm not sure why they omitted it. It's not a big concern because you can typically tell when the filter needs to be changed by tasting it, but it's great to know when it's almost time if you're running out on filters.
