For 17" square pillows, I purchased 19" pillow inserts. They were a fantastic fit. Why, you ask? Because he wanted to save me the aggravation, my husband looked into what size down pillow inserts fit in throw pillow cases. His analysis was accurate. Smaller pillows would have been the best choice if I had purchased the harder, less expensive synthetic fill. Maybe Pillowflex should mention that to fill the shams with down and down substitute pillows, the insert needs to be about 2" larger. I like the pillows, though.

To make a plumper pillow, you typically purchase an inch larger pillow insert for whichever pillow case you already own. The pillow cases I received, however, functioned best with thinner, less spherical pillow inserts. Having saying that, will these eventually flatten out. Without a doubt. For the top of a little wooden footstool, I needed a 10 inch pillow. I especially purchased this 10 inch insert for the zipper feature, allowing me to modify the thickness. The cover was made well. According to the tag, the cover was filled and finished in the USA after being manufactured in Pakistan. This one is one I endorse! The down appears to live up to its claimed 700 fill power because it is clean and featherless (700 cubic inches per ounce). It makes me happy, in fact. Three 12-ounce bags of this product were used in four separate creative projects by me, including constructing a foot box for a down quilt and giving an old down pillow new life.Make sure you have a strategy for how you will transfer the down from the sizable cotton bag it is shipped in (much like a pillow) into your object before placing your order. A web search for "how to transfer goose down" turns up numerous texts and videos that are really helpful. Let me recount my travels on this fascinating path.My initial task was to restore a pillow, and my idea was to insert a few handfuls of down from the sack into the opened seam of the cushion. Fortunately, I did this in the backyard, and the enormous mounds of blown-away down were covered by snow a few days later. It doesn't work for me to descend one handful at a time.The down bag was then compressed as much as possible before being submerged in water to soak it. Then, I could dump the wet into a sleeping bag's tubes in clumps. Later, I used my home drier for several hours at a very low temperature to dry the wet sleeping bag. The wet down that I hadn't (yet) utilized was then dried.I currently transfer around half an ounce of down using a toilet paper roll as a container. I place it into the bag carefully while holding it with my right hand. After that, I close the bag over my wrist with my left hand, tucking my right hand's fingers into the cardboard tube. I take it out of the bag and carefully insert it into the tube, then use my fingers to push the down out of the tube. I do this as many times as necessary before closing the tube with sewing. Before ripping the bag open, I placed it inside my body pillow sack to contain some of the mess. It just enlarged after which I struggled to remove the packing and free the product from the bag's center. But in the end, I won. The water squirt bottle aids in reducing static cling. Everything it touches, including your clothing, hair, limbs, and skin, gets stuck to by this material. So make sure to spray as you go—it works. Don't do it inside, period. When you open the package and discover what happened, you'll be grateful I gave you that advice. But I adore shredded foam in pillows because it doesn't break down, is simple to fluff back up, and can be washed and dried with the pillows (as long as the outer fabric is washable). I would fill every cushion in my house with this stuff if it weren't so difficult to work with.
