The illustration shows how the keys are opened by tiny red rubber wedges, which guard against damage to the keys during shipping. That level of detail is admirable. Other evaluations from time to time present a different (stronger? softer?) argument. I believe I prefer mine. There is no air leakage around the keys, the keys and springs move freely, and the pads seem to be of decent quality. The music on the instrument is excellent. Not as shrill as I had thought, the sound was beautiful and breathy. I can't compare a piccolo to other instruments because we have never owned one before. I can only express how pleased I am with the sound. Two cleaning cloths are included with it. The blue chamois style has a weighted ribbon to clean the inside, while the yellow chamois style can be used to safely cleanse the exterior. Although the weighted ribbon is a wonderful touch, it also includes a cleaning tool for people who would rather use that technique to clean the inside. It's great that maintaining your instrument doesn't involve any further purchases.The not-so-perfect: * As you can see in the picture, the cap at the top of the mouthpiece is not perfectly welded in the center. When I saw an expert compare this device to her $3,000 piccolo, I became interested in it. My main instrument is the flute. I only seldom play piccolo, but the used Gheminhardt I bought for $250 20 years ago has some tuning and tone problems. I needed a cheap piccolo alternative for a single piece, but even renting is pricey. I made the decision to give this one a go and had high expectations. This piccolo is actually incredibly easy to play and in sync with itself. an attractive tone. Excellent, excellent choice for someone who wants a cheap solution that rarely plays piccolo. A middle or high school student who needs an instrument for marching band should consider this one as well.

I honestly didn't have very high expectations for this piccolo, so I was pleasantly delighted when I opened the box. With unexpected French pointed keys, it is quite lovely. After reading all the conflicting reviews, I made the decision to test this piccolo for my own needs and at this price point. It took roughly ten hours to arrive after my morning order. Unlike most people who claim to be flute players but really desire a piccolo, I used to play the piccolo. I do own a few piccolos, but the $300 it would cost to repad one is really more than I want to spend trying to decide whether I want to revive my passion. I haven't tried to play in the third octave because it's becoming late and I don't want to bother the neighbors, but the first two play really nicely. The metal one feels tiny compared to the one I previously played, but I'm sure with practice I'll get used to it. Yes, the cloth is too large to wipe the inside, therefore getting a piccolo swab might also be a good idea. When I put the gloves on and wiped the piccolo off to put her away, I initially thought they were funny. Perfect! Regarding the case, it is excellent. I have four other piccolo cases, and this one is rather similar to them all. Before attempting to play, make sure the little corks holding the keys during shipment have been taken out. You can prevent bending the rods or keys by holding the piccolo firmly by the BARREL, not the body, when putting on and taking out the mouthpiece. I apologize that this review is so lengthy, but I must admit that I am really eager. Not a toy, it is. Even if it isn't a Haynes or Gemeinhardt, those namesakes are extremely pricey! I sincerely hope that this piccolo lives up to my now higher standards. I'll provide updates later...

Not because it compares to a Roy Seaman piccolo or something similar, but rather because it meets my needs and offers good value for the money, I'm giving this product 5 stars. This piccolo will be utilized in our school by students learning to double, or switch instruments back and forth within a piece, on the instrument for the first time. Kids won't have any trouble playing this piccolo because of its simple tonal response. For an inexpensive piccolo, it also has a very beautiful tone! Completes the set is a stylish case. It has greatly pleased me.UPDATE: This piccolo is now displaying its full colors, almost a year later. We got a year's worth of use out of a cheap piccolo, but now the joints are breaking apart and the instrument is playing poorly. I'll take it to my repairman, but I think it's just one of those situations where "you get what you pay for." This was not performed outside. Only beginning high school piccolo players are allowed in concert band.
