It works pretty well, but I'll warn you: depending on how much carpet you have and how gross you are, it may cost you thousands of dollars! We were horrified by the pee stains that our puppy had left and that I had overlooked when cleaning (our carpet is a beigy-color). I could smell the clutter in the room even though I couldn't locate it by sniffing the carpet. It was becoming worse. When it grew dark outside, I utilized this flashlight while wearing the glasses (some people say there's no need for the spectacles, but I disagree - they made it a lot more apparent glow), and I was able to see the problem areas right away. They were all gathered up near the entryway in a large group.The most effective treatment for pet urine is something else I'd like to offer. I've tried a variety of shampoos and enzymes, and this one is the most effective for me. Right away, soak up as much pure urine as you can. Take 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water and soak the stain if it has dried. Allow to sit for about 10 minutes, then scoop up all the liquid you can with many dry towels until none is left behind. Apply baking soda to the area, then wait one or two hours for it to dry. Up vacuum. I've also heard of doing it the other way, however I discovered that if the baking soda became too moist, it was quite difficult to remove from carpet. Repeat the process if the stench persists or if it glows under a black light; do not use boiling water! Use only cold water while handling urine. Let me spare you some difficulties because I had to learn everything the hard way.

I bought two of these to hunt scorpions, and they work great—even when the batteries are running low, scorpions light up the neon lights. The flash light did, however, start to flicker after a few uses, which was a problem for me. To no avail, it would simply stop moving despite my attempts to shake, smack, and tap it on a hard surface. I discovered that the LED circuit board was loose after removing the LED end. So I got a punch and a hammer and tightened them up in the two divots in the aluminum ring. Now, Viola performs flawlessly! If I hadn't had to fix both of them, I would have given a 5 star review. Oh, and mine detects pet pee and is more like the patch left on the carpet after we cleaned up a wine stain. OR I can see the spots just fine at night when the neighbor's cat comes over and splashes our car or my motorcycle. With fresh batteries, it does run warm, but not so warm that I couldn't put my hand over it.Edit: Without any intervention on my part, the company has contacted me to return the item or make the necessary repairs; bravo to them. The ring appears to be threaded; mine are now bent, but I'd try simply turning the aluminum ring to see if it might be tightened. they received a bonus star for doing that. Even my proposal that the technical department add a drop of lock tight or something similar to prevent the ring from loosing was taken into consideration.
