Melissa & Doug Safari Wooden Chunky Puzzle (Preschool, Chunky Wooden Pieces, Full-Color Pictures, 8 Pieces, Great Gift for Girls and Boys - Best for 2, 3, and 4 Year Olds) Review:

I genuinely enjoy this puzzle. The colors accurately reflect the image. It has clean edges and is crafted of high-quality wood. No issue at all with splinters. The characters' looks are so endearing and adorable. This puzzle is incredibly sturdy and secure. It is a fun method to discover more about some of the zoo's animals. Children can learn more about colors in this way. I appreciate that it fosters the growth of those fine motor abilities. Additionally, she will learn about the variations in sizes and shapes. To connect the puzzle piece to the appropriate cut out, you need a critical eye. Because the child completes the puzzle themselves, puzzles make good presents. Instead of pressing a button, they get it done for them. There is a reason why they have been around for so long. Take a sharpie and write a number on the back of each puzzle component and the puzzle itself if you have more than one puzzle. It functions flawlessly, and you have gained a new skill. For number recognition, combine the pieces of two or three puzzles before starting the matching process. Even though my two-year-old niece won't be able to use that skill just yet, as she gets older, she will and her ability to solve puzzles won't decline as quickly.

Melissa & Doug Vehicles Wooden Peg Puzzle (Colorful Vehicles Artwork, Extra-Thick Wooden Construction, 8 Pieces, Great Gift for Girls and Boys - Best for 2, 3, and 4 Year Olds) Review:

In general, I love Melissa and Doug toys. For different age groups, I believe they produce three different types of puzzles: the knob, peg, and chuncky. This specific puzzle has tiny "pegs." It is more appropriate for toddlers who can deftly hold objects with their thumb and index fingers or all of their fingers together because it is around the size of the head of a thumb tac. This toy is suitable for children ages 2 and up, while the knob puzzle is meant for children ages 1 and up. Some people called this riddle "flimsy," which is true. It is "thinner" in comparison to the knob or chunky puzzle. The size of the puzzle board is roughly 1 centimeter (9 millimeters to be exact). However, the size of each puzzle piece is barely 1/2 centimeter. It was mentioned in another review that the peg might come off, however in my judgment, it is very secure. It looks "nailed in" rather than "glued on." According to another review, the piece's layers were separating. Despite the fact that my one-year-old nibbles on the bits, I have not experienced that issue. But given that it is comprised of layers of wood, and that wood tends to expand when wet, I can see how it may. However, I have not had this experience. Overall, I must say that I had some reservations about the puzzle's thickness, but I soon got over them because you probably don't want the pieces to be too large or heavy to pick up with the small peg. Designed for 2 children and will be easier to transport than larger puzzle varieties.

Melissa & Doug Peg Puzzles Set, Farm Animals, Pets, Ocean (Developmental Toy, Easy to Grasp, 3 Peg Puzzles, 6 Pieces in Each, Great Gift for Girls and Boys - Best for 2, 3, and 4 Year Olds) Review:

For my daughter's Easter basket, I ordered this puzzle kit. This is not precisely "a terrific deal," as you only get what you paid for. These resemble a cross between wooden and traditional cardboard puzzles in that the cardboard image is placed on top of a base of thin, laminated wood. These have just been lightly played with, and already the cardboard top is beginning to chip at the edges. I would absolutely pass if I had seen these in the store before making the purchase and instead spend a little more money on a quality, solid wood, painted wooden puzzle.EDIT (I gave these a 3-star rating when I first reviewed them in March 2015; the following is the November 2015 update): These have held up really well and appear to be much more durable than I was feared they would be, despite initially displaying some wear. With regard to these puzzles, I've changed my mind. My daughter still plays with them virtually every day and still adores them completely. She enjoys playing pretend with the animals now that she is older, giving them voices, making them eat, sleep, etc., almost like playing with paper dolls or figurines. I do believe they were a decent deal after all, both in terms of durability and entertainment.:) No, they aren't the "classic" wooden puzzles, but we still adore them. I sincerely hope that my earlier comments are still useful for understanding the subject, but fear not—they haven't peeled or chipped substantially more, which is impressive considering how long puzzles have so far survived into toddlerhood!

Melissa & Doug Disney Classics Alphabet Wooden Peg Puzzle, Developmental Toys, Sturdy Wooden Construction, 26 Pieces, 0.7” H x 11.6” W x 8.5” L Review:

My son enjoys solving this puzzle. He's two years old, and when he arranges the puzzle pieces correctly, he becomes excited. He particularly enjoys the letters D and M because he is familiar with Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck. He enjoys lifting the letters to reveal the Disney characters hidden behind them even if he is unfamiliar with many of them. He enjoys it when I identify them as I play with him. Consequently, we both enjoy it.

Melissa & Doug Classic Wooden Peg Puzzles, See-Inside Alphabet & Numbers, and Fish Mix & Match Colors, 3-Pack (Great Gift for Girls and Boys - Best for 3, 4, and 5 Year Olds) Review:

I ADORE this puzzle collection! The fish puzzle was one of the first puzzles my son was able to solve on his own while also teaching him his colors. He enjoys "experimenting" by first pairing the wrong colors before placing them in the proper location. The fact that the figures are so large is excellent as we are now working on them. The same number of items (4 mice under the 4) are listed beneath the numbers, and the word "four" is written beneath the number pieces. It is comprehensive and beneficial for teaching. The alphabet problem is, in my opinion, the "weakest" of the bunch. There are numerous components, all of which are small and simple to misplace. I've lost track of the F for a very long time. Sadly, that means I can't teach that letter because the only thing in the hole is a picture of a fish (no way to show the F). Additionally, the way the letters are carved out makes it difficult for children to use them to solve the puzzle (the N is just a square). The puzzle is more challenging because some of the images are a little more complex (we say "bug," while I is for "insect"). However, I'm still delighted to have it because my son likes to pick up letters and bring them to me while I'm doing other things, telling me what they are. If I'm in the kitchen, he won't use the letters on the fridge. I wholeheartedly suggest this set as a fantastic gift and educational resource.

Melissa & Doug Large Farm Jumbo Knob Puzzle (Colorful Farm Artwork, 8 Pieces, Great Gift for Girls and Boys - Best for Babies and Toddlers, 12 Month Olds, 1 and 2 Year Olds)) Review:

I adore Melissa and Doug. To make my kid feel like she is family when she opens the form, I took this puzzle, modified (by cropping) images of family members, and modpodged them into the shapes. She adored the gift I got her for Christmas when she was 11 months old. She has located the family and is learning the shapes two months later. I was able to add some originality to this puzzle and make it more distinctive.

Wooden Peg Puzzles for Toddlers 2 3 Years Old, WOOD CITY Alphabet & Number Puzzles for Kids, 4 Pcs Toddler Puzzles Set - Letters, Numbers, Animals and Vehicles, Learning Toys Gift for Girls and Boys Review:

UPDATE: When I first received this puzzle set, a number of the pegs had come off the puzzle pieces, therefore my initial review of the product stated that it was a choking hazard. However, the firm has since sent me a completely new puzzle set, and since then, none of the puzzle pegs have come off. I gave it a 4-star rating because I still urge parents to exercise caution and to double-check their puzzle kits.
