This has now been used to completely strip two cast iron pans so they can be re-seasoned. The seasoning in the first pan was flaking off in a few places (nothing major but I figured it would become a problem at some point down the line). In about 25 minutes, the factory seasoning and any that had accumulated over the period of about a year fell off on both sides of a 12 inch skillet. While stripping the sides and bottom wasn't necessary, I figured why not while I was at it.The second pan was an 8-inch size, but about a third of the cooking surface was actually covered in rust. In actuality, seasoning took longer to remove rust than it did! The total time to prepare the pan for re-seasoning was in the range of 10 to 15 minutes.I believe I could strip at least two more pans with the same brush provided they didn't have too much rust, but results may vary.

The best thing since sliced bread, this! I use it on toilets, sinks, tubs, laundry, and anything else with a rust stain, and it always works with little to no scrubbing. My husband's weed-eater and sprayer strap buckles leave rust stains on his shirt and slacks. Sometimes I don't see them until after three washing. No issue; I simply spritz it, let it sit for about 10 minutes, and then chuck it in the laundry for the subsequent wash cycle. The rust stains are removed after it is removed.Our log home was constructed using antique toilets, pedestal sinks, and claw foot tubs (originals). This item arrived in excellent condition. Despite the majority of reviews being excellent, I was a little concerned after reading one that was negative. I'm so happy I took a chance on it! We had the terrible experience of obtaining some extra moisture in my home, followed by mold. Ugh! We were unaware that it existed until we had to perform some significant gutting because it was concealed by paneling. Nothing else comes close to the mixture created with this, despite our attempts with baking soda, tea tree oil, and other essential oils. We simply dissolved them in water after combining 1% of this product and 5% washing soda by weight. We were able to fog the entire space in approximately 15 minutes after renting a serious fogger from a nearby tool rental shop. It was a success! I'm in awe! Before doing it, I read everything I could find online from those who had already attempted it. Wearing safety eyewear, a respirator, and clothes is required. Depending on the size of the space, 25% of the total time the fogger is directed at each corner will vary depending on the fogger you are using. Ensure that everything comes with clear instructions! To kill the mold, the mixture must dry. We are unable to see it after it dries. The majority of mold spots vanished entirely! Others cautioned online that if you use too much fogging, the objects would have a yellowish covering. We avoided the issue by not going overboard. There is no need to rinse this off. Before starting, we got rid of anything that couldn't handle dampness, shielded electronics, and kept anything that needed fogging but might not survive the process emotionally apart. It must be removed if it contains mold. Therefore, even though we weren't sure, we decided to be okay with it not working out since if it did, we would have to throw it all away. I was shocked to see that none of the cushions had any musty odor whatsoever after being cleaned. I'm sure it varies, based on things like how they're created, etc. I can't express to you what a relief this is. If you're considering utilizing this to remove mold, I strongly advise doing some online research to find out more about fogging with this. As we run the clothes we wore during clean-up through the washing machine, I'll also be adding the mixture to the load. Then, I'll use it to paint the patio furniture by the pool and the gloss-painted walls that need to be redone. It can be unpleasant to clean, but using products that actually work gives you a lot of happiness when you see the results of your labors. Prior to this, I tried utilizing a TSP alternative for various household cleaning tasks rather than with the fogger. In my experience, utilizing the alternative was not beneficial; it is nothing like using true TSP.We quickly examined all the different crawl spaces, attics, etc. after having such a positive experience where we were aware of mold issues and discovered that one off of our garage had a musty smell. We therefore also fogged that location. The musty odor has vanished entirely. "WOO HOO!" I'm extremely appreciative!

I drove through some freshly spilt paint, which covered the black rubber components of my Jeep. It stayed there for a week or longer. I tried using several household items, such as sandpaper, and it took approximately an hour and a half to remove the paint. When I got this product, one of my tires still had some paint on it, so I gave it a try. Looking back, I wish I had waited to use sandpaper and other chemicals on rubber parts because this worked so quickly. I just applied a small amount of spray to the painted tire and removed it with a paper towel. It truly does work! It doesn't smell too horrible at all.

I've been faithfully using methylene chloride-based strippers like Klean Strip for the eight years that I've been restoring antiques. I've developed a taste for solvents and strippers. Then I made an attempt to remove the wrought iron railings from outside my home. A nightmare indeed! Before the Klean Strip penetrated through the initial coat of paint, it was already drying into an impenetrable shell. There are at least four or five thick layers of various types of paint on these railings.As a last resort, I tried Smart Strip. Years ago, I tried an earlier iteration of the product (Peel Away) on some woodwork in my home, and it worked reasonably well.The conflicting reviews made me dubious. I sprinted to get my camera to record a video after the first spindle. In just under 2 hours (without dwell time—I'll get to that—I completed the remaining 6 spindles, the top and bottom rails, and cleaned up the parts the other stripper left). In contrast, using the Klean Strip required an entire day and produced a lot of debris.Despite my great success with it, you can't follow the instructions, thus I awarded this product 4 stars.Wrapping: The can clearly states that it does not require covering (unlike Peel Away, its predecessor), but I still did it because my railings were outside my door and I didn't want anyone putting their hand in goo. I was happy to see that the solvent had not dried out after 24 hours in the one area I had not covered, although I did find it more difficult to scrape the paint off of that area. I just used regular plastic grocery bags instead of the expensive paper they sell. Wax paper was also mentioned. Even as I was peeling the bags off, I could see the paint fading.Paint does not "wash right off" when scraped. There is some work involved. On flat surfaces, I scraped with a scraper, and on curved areas, I used steel wool or a metal bristle brush. And in other spots, I had to scrub or use my fingernail to remove a fleck. The first spindle, however, was reduced to bare metal in under 5 minutes. In order to remove the solvent and soften any remaining paint flecks, I also used Denatured Alcohol.Why the can bothers to state "3-24 hours" is beyond me. Just let us know that we should wait till tomorrow. I can't think of a way to make it go faster. Furthermore, the material doesn't dry out. My own experiment lasted 24 hours and was quite successful.The can's stated thickness of 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch is accurate. The better, the heavier. If I could, I would drop my railings into a vat of this. It won't work if you apply a thin layer of paint. It needs to be liberally applied. In essence, you don't have enough on if you can still see your paint through the solvent. I applied it with a dab like stucco. super-thin stucco.Therefore, if you wish to finish your assignment on a specific day after waking up, you shouldn't use this product. Plan on a dwell duration of 24 hours. As for how it performs on coatings other than latex or oil-based paint (such as enamel, polyurethane, varnish, etc.), I can't vouch for that. Although I did notice that paint was coming off my pants when I rubbed my solvent-covered hands on my paint-spattered clothing (I have a feeling that a lot of the negative reviews faced a coating of something this item isn't meant to handle). Furthermore, disregard the instructions and instead apply the product, wrap it, wait a day, scrape it, and scrub it with denatured alcohol.What's not to like about it? It's water-based, it doesn't stink, it won't burn your skin like a thousand suns, and it degrades naturally. Get the "sample size" and test it if you're unsure. A 4 foot stretch of railing was completed for me by 1/4 of the "sample size" container.I'll keep using Klean Strip when I need to finish a project quickly or if there are only one or two layers of paint to remove. But I'll use Smart Strip to complete the remainder of my railings!

So! The hardest thing I've ever done was removing paint from brick! We have a sizable fireplace with brick that has been painted for at least 50 years (and mortar). We have tried everything under the sun throughout the course of the project's three summers (except a heat gun, indoors...). The Smart Strip performed as well as the other items when used with paper, but it excels in terms of turnaround time.This is a MESSY operation, and nothing will completely remove the paint short of sandblasting or using an angle grinder or drill-mounted brass wire wheel. What worked for us was as follows: ( Use painter's tape, not standard masking tape, heavy duty paper, and garbage bags to cover and protect everything within around 2 feet (at the very least), as well as heavy card stock with plastic underneath for at least 3 feet on the floor (Did I mention this is very messy) 1) If working vertically, start at the top and spread the stripper out across the area you will be working on (I'd suggest one sheet at a time). 2) Cover with Dumonds paper; yes, it is worthwhile (wax paper, parchment, and plastic are either too much trouble (plastic, as it easily came off) or were completely ineffective); just be careful to spread it on evenly and remove any air bubbles, especially in mortar areas. 3) Wait! a minimum of 24 hours, 4) You should start here if something was left out of the article. 5) The Work Has Begun! To remove the majority of the goo, we used two long, narrow, heavy-duty wire brushes, one or three smaller wire brushes (these brushes lasted on the 7' x 3' section, but will lose their bristles and become gummed up beyond use), some pot scrubbing pads (the green ones), some 3M brand scrubbers, metal scrapers/putty knives, and a bag-lined trash can (so you can scrape the goo off the putty knife and have 6) Begin at the top and peel out a small section of the paper at a time (the paper will keep the stripper maliable longer) 7) Use putty to remove the tougher gunk, then scrub with a wire brush and water, removing the gunk frequently with a wooden skewer (I tapped it firmly on the top of the bucket to remove the gunk), and finally use very wet scrubbing pads of your choice to remove the grimy fill (the big sticky goop must be removed first; when these pads become excessively goopy, throw them away, they'll still work). After a long day, tidy up with Good Off, outside-stinks. Nothing is more effective at slicing through Oobleck goop! However, it will dissolve any adhesive that is holding your brush together.Although it costs more money, I completed this portion in just 8 days as opposed to the previous two, which required more than two months of daily work to achieve the same results.Oh, and you ought to safeguard yourself! This stripper is made of tough chemicals but doesn't burn like most of the others we've used and doesn't smell at all. Therefore, use caution and at the very least wear nitrile gloves and eye protection.
