Ignore my rating if you assumed that these little hooks would not flex to enable them stay on Christmas tree branches. However, these do not adhere to the tree like my other hooks do because I normally squeeze the top of them. They are constructed of a heavy, thick metal that requires pliers to bend.The top hook wasn't long enough, which caused the ornaments to fall whenever I bumped into a branch or when my pets walked too closely. This was not a disaster for me because all of my ornaments are plastic, but if I had glass ornaments, I would have been devastated. To make sure they would stay on, I had to spiral the branch into the hook after flipping the hooks upside down. They turned out well, but only because I had realized beforehand how durable they were. I managed to make it work.

These ornament hangers in dark green are ideal. Dark green allows the ornament stand out while blending in. With heavier ornaments, I feel they function perfectly. I enjoy that I can manipulate them to fit my decorations, especially my heavier and more priceless ones, by squeezing them onto the branch of the tree and also where it loops into the top of the ornament. They easily gave way when a heavier decoration was placed on top of them, in my experience. I apologize that this review is out of date, but I'm hopeful they won't lower the quality of these hooks for the upcoming season. There will be a problem if they do attempt to make them less expensive.

Where have these hooks been for the past twenty years, at the very least? I was so relieved to find these because, as an elderly person who remembers quality, I must state that they are exactly like they were "back in the day." Although you might not require your ornament hanger to support 5 pounds on each hook, it is still good to have something similar to what I am used to. Some of my ornaments have been hanging from the same hanger since the early 1970s (when folks took pride in the quality of products and actually demanded it...even if it was ONLY a measly ornament hook ). But as I grew my collection of ornaments over time, the hangers got progressively worse, making use of them frustrating. They were flimsy and cheap. N-I-C-E, I was able to swap out all of those awful, subpar hangers with these. Was pleased to have discovered them!

Since I purchased after the holidays, I can't vouch for how they handle stockings, whether they are full or not. However, I will admit that despite their simplicity, they seem really elegant and sophisticated and genuinely fit on my mantle. I have what I initially believed to be a typical carved wood mantle, but it turns out that because the carving extends an inch over the flat surface/top of the mantle, NONE of the conventional drop-hook weighted stocking hangers will work. I deliberated between these clips and the standing version, but since I prefer to display a wide variety of items on my mantle over the holidays, such as all of my Christmas cards, I thought that this version's low top profile would be more practical for me. Even after being bent open to accommodate my 3" mantle, the carved shape makes the fit a little "iffy," but that is in no way the product's fault. Since the metal appears heavy and sturdy, I was a little startled by how easily it might be bent, but it did so smoothly and kept the design's curve as intended, so I was happy. The clear plastic strips do not add to the durability of the clips; rather, they serve as a simple metal protection for your wood. The fact that the clips had to be bent has the extra benefit of making the small hook at the end more hook-like, which eliminates the risk of the stockings coming off.*update* The purse I hung from the hooks had no negative effects, and I'm sure a stocking packed with goodies will hang just as nicely next Christmas!TL;DR: Excellent hooks for unconventional mantles, highly recommended

Although I was concerned that they might appear awfully cheap, I chose to give the ornament hangars a shot. They truly do look pretty good, and the fake crystals are wonderful at reflecting light, making my tree sparkle a lot. Ornaments are simple to attach and won't come off since the hooks include a small clasp at the end for connecting to the ornament, which is similar to a jewelry clasp.
