An open end wrench has a U-shaped opening that fits around the bolt head or nut. The other end of the wrench is open, allowing the wrench to be slid along the bolt or nut to the desired position.
It really depends on the situation. If you're trying to loosen a bolt, you would want to push the wrench. But if you're trying to tighten a bolt, you would want to pull the wrench.
Closed end wrenches are used for a variety of tasks, including tightening and loosening bolts, nuts, and other types of fasteners. They are also used to grip and turn objects that are difficult to turn with your hands alone. Closed end wrenches come in a variety of sizes to fit different types of fasteners and objects.

This is a fantastic selection of metric sizes, including the large ones that are hard to obtain, at a wonderful price. Because of where some hex heads are located, a crowfoot wrench is occasionally the only general instrument that can effectively turn them. Some, like this one, have return tabs at the jaws to make contact with a hex nut or bolt's points on all sides, but they call for a space to slide the tool over and onto the hex head. Others can slide directly onto the hex since they lack the returns and have open mouths (or older square head). For my purpose, open jaws would have been preferable, but I was unable to locate a set that was affordable in the larger sizes. This method worked, however it was more difficult to get the tool onto the hex head for each tiny spin I was able to make. When hex head access is not a problem, return tab jaws offer better leverage, a lower risk of slipping off, or a better likelihood of rounding edges. This set's weakness is that, as other reviewers have noted, its grasp on the ratchet drive or extension is unsteady. In my situation, I quickly deployed a 24mm crowfoot with a 1/2" drive to a very constrained area with little room for the crowfoot to swing, and it immediately landed into the engine (and didn't strike the ground). It took 40 minutes to find and retrieve the item as a result. To prevent a recurrence of the issue while enabling frequent crowfoot adjustment, the crowfoot and ratchet drive had to be held two-handedly. Using a wobble head extension improved the grip, but it was still risky.

I'm purchasing a second set, one for my house and one for the office. high-end wrenches. These are not very short, unlike many other wrenches, especially thin wrenches. Nicely extended, but yet somewhat frail. The only "issue" I can think of with them is that they are so flat that it can be difficult to pick them up off the table; a little rounding of the shafts would be greatly appreciated. But with such a good set of wrenches, that is a pretty minor complaint. They do cost a little extra, yes. However, I've learnt to avoid purchasing cheap tools. A good tool is an investment. Just purchase them if you're debating them. You won't go back in time. (I'm not connected to the seller in any way. Just like everyone else, I had to pay for these.)

To work on an attachment to the air line for my pneumatic tools, I required this wrench. I needed a wrench, but the area I had was very little and a conventional wrench would have been too thick. When purchasing a thin wrench like this, my biggest concern was flex. That thing was quite tightly held down, yet this wrench was sturdy enough to not flex at all when I applied a lot of pressure on it.

For the price, you can't go wrong, so I got these wrenches to add to my workshop. The durability of their excellent chrome mirror finish will depend on time. As a retired independent contractor, I work on almost everything. These are excellent tools to use on an as-needed basis. I believe you would be utilising another brand if you worked as a mechanic full-time. For my pickup, I've already purchased another pair. They have a lengthy pattern and offer excellent leverage.

27-mm jumbo crowfoot wrench
Lifetime warranty

Built to last
CR-MO alloy steel for long life

You most likely purchased this 36 mm (or other large metric size) crowfoot for a particular application; it is unlikely that you would use it on a daily basis or that you want to spend a lot of money on it. It really isn't a problem as long as it functions if you have to grind it a little or if the forging quality isn't excellent. If you want the best crowfoot possible, invest in a Snap-On, which retails for $64 in the 36 mm size. Otherwise, you should use this $11 tool.

These thin wrenches don't replace good, forged "tappet" wrenches, but they appear to be of enough quality for sporadic use, such as when a shade-tree technician needs to hold the flats on a sway bar link (that sell for a much higher price). They are made of stamped steel, were manufactured in India, and do not have smooth, flat working surfaces because the edges are not ground. As a result, the sides are relatively sharp and the openings are not smooth. The holes are all around 0.2mm larger than their nominal size, with the exception of a tiny waviness. A high-quality 8mm wrench has half the clearance of a standard mid-size wrench, which is common. Naturally, it is simpler to harm the wrench and the fitting when there is too much clearance. The surfaces are smooth and rather flat. The 8-17mm wrenches in my set had a thickness of 0.118 /-0.002" (3.0mm or 1/8") and the 18-32mm wrenches had a thickness of 0.158 /-0.002" (4.0mm or 5/32") Even while that is suitable for many automotive applications and is half as thick as a forged wrench, it is substantially thicker than the ordinary 2mm bicycle-hub cone wrench. In other words, even while these wrenches might be useful for some bicycle repairs, they are not a replacement for the specialized equipment from Park, etc. From 4.8" for the 8/9mm to 7.0" for the 18/19mm to 9.9" for the 30/32mm wrench, the lengths rise. The ends are 15 degrees angled. Therefore, these can be the best, most affordable option if you occasionally need a thinner than usual wrench, especially in the mid- to larger sizes. If not, spend many times as much on a set of high-quality, forged wrenches. or invest in specialized equipment if you're fixing bicycles, etc.

The box ends are larger than you'd anticipate, meaning the walls are heavier rather than thicker. Although maybe not ideal for close-quarters work, it's still excellent. The finish or plating looks fantastic. The text states that the material is high-carbon steel, not the superior steel (chrome/vanadium steel, I believe) that is typically used for wrenches, so it may not be well suited for high torque applications, but this is probably not a problem for small tools like this anyway. It is more than suitable for my intended application, which is to make modifications to a 3D printer. Excellent selection of miniature sizes.
Open end wrenches are one of the most versatile and commonly used tools in any workshop. There are a few basic rules to follow when using them to ensure safety and prevent damage to the tool or the workpiece. Always use the wrench size that is appropriate for the bolt or nut you are working on. Forcing a smaller wrench to fit can damage both the wrench and the fastener. When tightening a nut or bolt, always use a smooth, even motion. Do not jerk or hammer the wrench as this can damage the tool or break the fastener.
The teeth on a ratchet help to grip the object that you are trying to move. The more teeth there are, the more grip the ratchet will have.
A crows foot wrench is a type of wrench that is used to reach bolts and nuts in hard-to-reach places. It is shaped like a crow's foot, with the ends of the wrench spreading out like a bird's claws. This allows the wrench to grip the bolt or nut from the side, rather than from the top or bottom. This makes it ideal for use in tight spaces.
A wrench is a tool used to provide grip and mechanical advantage in applying torque to turn objects—usually nuts or bolts—by means of a socket, a closed-end wrench, or an open-end wrench. A wrench is also sometimes used for hammering.
A wrench is a tool that is used to turn bolts and nuts. It has a long handle with a head that is either open-ended or has a box end.
There are many different types of wrenches, each designed for a specific purpose. When it comes to loosening a bolt, the best wrench to use is a socket wrench. This type of wrench is designed to fit over the head of a bolt, making it easy to apply torque and loosen the bolt.
