Alaskan King crab legs were lately a treat we gave ourselves at home. We had to cut the legs open and pry them open because we lacked the proper equipment. Those were difficult on the hands. First things first: I am a first-generation Portuguese-American who has spent my whole childhood in New England. I've been eating crabs ever since I was a young child. I ADORE them! However, my family has never been very strong in the area of crab rolls. Prior to this set, I was eating my crabs by using an old cracker and the short legs (the pointy part). My fair number of cuts from sharp crab bits have not been enjoyable. I even used the red plastic "crackers," which function great, and the picker tool, which makes everything incredibly simple. Although I had to look them up to find out what they were for, it makes sense and works well. I suggest them. This entire collection is advised. Any crab-tastic feast would benefit from having it!

I adore eating pecans and walnuts, among other sorts of nuts. And I discovered that in-shell pecans and walnuts are substantially less expensive than those without shells. I also love seafood, especially crabs. But I lack the necessary tools. So if I want to eat crabs, I head to the seafood restaurant. So I purchased this with the idea that if it didn't work, I could always buy the less expensive crackers/picks that my family has traditionally used (and long before). I experimented with it on the complete assortment of nuts, which included Pecans, Walnuts, Almonds, Brazil Nuts, and Hazelnuts. Well, I can tell that with this one, all of the nuts came out whole, so I didn't need any picks or other crackers. All of the nuts were likewise easily cracked by my 8-year-old daughter. My only gripe is that it really makes cracking nuts TOO simple, and I (sort of?) missed all the excitement of separating the little pieces (but not really). But really, when the most challenging nuts take an average of one second to shell entire, we eat more and need to purchase more. This is obviously a sinister design of the nut companies to force us to consume more nuts. You evil(nut)doers, be damned!Additionally, I can understand why people could perceive this as being fragile because it is lightweight and doesn't feel sturdy like most nutcrackers do. And when you put a nut in, it really doesn't feel like you've made any effort, but before you know it, the nut has popped out of the shell! Even my 3-year-old can use these, and we could sit around and crack nuts all night! Try it, and I bet you'll be amazed. If not, feel free to send me the ones you don't like.
