Best Nail Strengtheners in 2020

Barielle 7-In-1 Elixir Nail Treatment .5 ounce Review:

It acts as a treatment for repair; a thickener; and can be used as a top coat (although I don't use it in this manner). Simply the best product on the market for repairing and strengthening nails, and Barielle is the gold standard for nail health products. I don't use their polishes (actually no polish) so I can't comment on using as a top coat. I had a problem with splits/cracks, etc., and this product fixed it all while the nail grew; healed. This seller is a bit more than 30% LOWER than most other places for Barielle products. Saved money and restored the health issue with my nails.

Hard As Hoof Nail Strengthening Cream with Coconut Scent Nail Strengthener, Nail Growth & Conditioning Cuticle Cream Stops Splits, Chips, Cracks & Strengthens Nails, 1 oz Review:

Coconut is my favorite scent, closely tied to vanilla- and so I knew I had to try this when I saw it was coconut scented! It's a very mild smell, and once on your nails the smell kinda smells a little playdoh-y? But I still really like it, and I hope they don't change the scent! If it had still been cherry there's no way I would have tried it lol.

Anyways, I use it on my nails 1-5x a day I'd say. I dip the tips in and leave the most cream underneath my tips, but also rub it in to the cuticles, nail beds and even all over my fingers and hands.

I use these in conjunction with OPI Nail Envy Original and Sally Hansen Cuticle Oil and have seen great results! My nails have been thin, bendy, peely and easily broken all my life. When I took my acrylic nails off back in February of this year they were so bad they were as thin as seran wrap. Doing anything with them hurt, and they would even bleed on me from time to time. I do believe the OPI Nail Envy has been most to thank for my nails being in the state they're in now- but I also believe Hard as Hoofs as played a large part as well.

My favorite thing about leaving it under my nails is that it makes the tips look whiter. I've also noticed my tips seems to actually absorb the cream when left on long enough. Since using Hard as Hoofs my tips have gotten whiter even when I don't have the cream under them.

(In the picture I'm including with this review I do not have the cream under the tips.)

Orly Nail Rescue Kit Review:

WOW!! This works so much better than I expected. The nail on my left index finger began ripping on the inside edge right where the nail bed ends. I tried fixing it with nail glue and coffee filter material... no luck. My hair would get caught in it while blow drying and that would pull the tear even further. Then I noticed the outside edge was starting to tear as well, to the point where only about 25% of the nail was still intact in the very middle. I cut down the length of the nail to take the stress of it, put some Scotch tape over the whole nail to stabilize it, and prayed this Orly nail repair kit would arrive quickly.

Once it arrived, I prepped the broken nail by removing the gel polish I had on it, taking care not to increase the rip. I cleaned the nail well with alcohol and contemplated putting my gel bonder on it as well, but decided not to. I followed the instructions on the Orly kit, which are quite simple -- paint the entire affected nail with a glue-like substance, dip the entire nail into the little tiny tub of powder it came with, shake/brush off the excess powder, and voila -- no more rip!! Per the instructions, I repeated this process twice since the rip was was bad.

The immediate result was a somewhat thick and lumpy surface, somewhat like a poorly applied acrylic nail. I used the little buffer that came with the kit and a fine grit file to smooth the whole thing out. I then cleaned the whole thing again with alcohol and a lint-free wipe to prepare it to reapply the gel. The gel seems to have adhered to the repaired surface just fine. I was able to use all the normal coats of the gel system without issue and there was no burning or anything under the UV light (which I was a little apprehensive of).

The price for this kit seemed a little steep, but given the results, I'd say it was worth it. It seems like you could many, many repairs out of the amount of material included. I am so, so glad I found this or I would have had to cut the affected nail all the way down to the nail bed (I am approaching a Kardashian-esque level of nail obsession so this just was not an acceptable option!!). I am really hoping this fix lasts for at least a week or two when I strip the current gel color and reapply.

Nail Magic Nail Hardener & Conditioner, Assists with Chipping, Peeling, Brittle Fingernails, Strengthens, Conditions, & Hardens Nails, 0.5 fluid oz Review:

I have been using this stuff since I saw an ad in the Dayton, Ohio newspaper in the early 80s. My nails are naturally weak, and used to be so thin that I could actually read through them. I tried Nail Magic after seeing that ad and it changed everything. For the first time in my life I could have ten natural nails at a nice length at the same time, instead of a few nice ones and a few short scraggly ones. Women with weak nails will know what I mean by that. Now my nails look natural, feminine, and pretty.

I don't have super long nails, but that's not the look I want, or I'd just do fake nails. Yes, they break sometimes, but overall I have consistently nice nails. I receive a lot of compliments on them.

I have told dozens of people about this product over the years, and many of them have become Nail Magic lifers like me. Only one woman told me that it didn't work for her, and the company refunded her money. It's interesting to me that the original ad I saw was for a nice department store. When I moved back to the Atlanta area, I found it at a department store at first, and then for years at drug stores. Now I can't find it locally, so I was very happy to find it on Amazon.

If you get it on your cuticles, they will be a little hard, so try to keep it just on your nails. It dries completely in just a few minutes, fewer than five. It looks like clear nail polish. You can use it alone, as a base coat, or a top coat, though I've not used it as a top coat. I pretty much use it by itself.

I've always said that I'd do Nail Magic ads for free, and this Amazon review finally gave me the chance to sort of do that.

OPI Natural Nail Treatments Review:

I have been wearing nail color, with base, continuously for the past 15 years, and I have never encountered such a great base. I have tried various brands, including OPI, but this one specifically stated to be formaldehyde -free. Well, I never realized how much other formaldehyde-based products affected my nails until I tried this. It made my nail so much stronger.
This base also holds onto the nail and does not come off unless nail polish remover is used. With other bases, i used to wear polish for 3-4 days, and then it would peel off or chip. This base holds polish for a week! This is a really good product, I am definitely recommending it to friends.

Nail Tek Treatments Xtra 4, For Weak, Damaged Nails Review:

I have always had thin, peeling nails that would never grow past the tip of my finger. I tried every product on the market when I was younger. I finally gave up on my natural nails and have worn nail tips covered with gel glue for over 20 years. Due to some impending surgery, I had to remove the tips and go cold turkey. A couple of my nails were so thin, they hurt when the tips and glue were left off. Even slightly warm water on my nails sent me through the roof and hot water was unbearable. I was skeptical that anything would help but hoped the polish-like covering would decrease the pain at least. I have been using Nail Tek Xtra for 3 weeks now. I am amazed with the results. I apply a fresh coat each day and remove with non-acetone polish remover every week. Even after just the first week, my nails felt stronger and harder and aren't peeling. My nails are still in bad shape and show white spots where they are damaged. I expect them to show damage until they have fully grown out, but this is HUGE progress. They also no longer hurt when I use warm or even hot water. I'm glad I bought two bottles because I believe I will be using this for a long time to come. So if you have nails that you thought were unsalvageable, give this a try.

JASON Tea Tree Oil, 1 Ounce Bottle Review:

I've been using this product for over a year, and I must say, it is one of the best purchases I've ever made for skin care.

It helps diminish red bumps or pimples in a matter of days
I tend to get red bumps on areas where I shave or generally have irritation. When I apply the Tea Tree Oil, it takes approximately two - five days to make the bumps less visible.

In regards to pimples and blemishes, it does a very great job of drying them out if you apply every day (preferably at night - make sure you moisturize 30 mins later or the following morning because it can REALLY dry out your skin). Sometimes the pimples disappear completely.

The only negative thing I have to say about this product is the SMELL. Every time I use even a smidge of this product, my family members immediately pass out from the strong odor. Okay, obviously not pass out but... it has a very strong smell to it.

So in conclusion, this is really good if you have red bumps or blemishes that you want to get rid of the "natural way". (Instead of popping or further irritating pimples).

Sally Hansen Treatment Cuticle Rehab 0.29 oz Review:

I have been using this on my nails for over a year and it is the best thing for ridges and peeling nails. It is very strong and does cover the imperfections. I prefer a pink-tinted polish anyway, rather than a color, so this is just right for me. It isn't cheap, and I just had to open a new bottle because the first was getting too thick, even though there was plenty left. I try and redo my nails once a week, and it does last about that long, unless I've been doing a lot of heavy work.
