We built an island in our kitchen DIY. We purchased stock cabinets and trim and built an island of cabinets with an overhang to sit at. We needed two legs to support the huge granite slab. I looked on home improvement store websites and everything was special order in 2 weeks and more expensive. These are exactly the same I saw on their sites, except I got them in two days and for less $! We ended up lightly sanding them, painting with a primer (zinsser 1-2-3) and then painted with Sherwin Williams Emerald enamel line in satin. It blends so seamlessly with the rest of the piece. The cracks were a bit hard to paint so we used a craft brush but was overall easy. It didn't even need to sanded when we got it but we nicked it up a little moving it around. These are heavy and SOLID. I was worried they wouldn't be able to hold the granite, but these are more than sufficient. I may buy more of these in the future to add to other places in my kitchen at the ends of counters. I would definitely recommend these if you need some type of counter support or are building a table or something.

We purchased two for the house, needed something for a kitchen island. The measurements were exact, which is something we were really hoping for as it was a last minute purchase. These are currently load bearing for the island and are able to handle the weight without a problem. They were easy to stain. They are large in size, which was only noticed when compared to the cabinet columns that we had initially purchased at lowes, and perfect for our kitchen renovation.
