I was thrilled when I saw this 24-pack of BIC mechanical pencils at such a great price on Amazon. I bought 4 packs. As a teacher of Middle school students, I am constantly lending out pencils to unprepared students who promise to return them, then mysteriously find myself "out of stock" at the end of the week. I have my suspicions that my 13-year old boys are snacking on them, but I can't prove anything.
Seriously, these pencils are great, and my students prefer these, hands down, to regular wooden pencils (sometimes I hand them out as prizes and the kids love receiving them). My gripe with wood pencils is that every two minutes it seems the point is breaking and I have students sharpening pencils all throughout my class period. These pencils eliminate that disruption, because even if the point breaks, which isn't too often, since these particular pencils are a sturdy .7mm point size, with two clicks the students are back to writing.
We recently took our state-wide standardized tests and my school made it mandatory that we use wooden #2 pencils and throughout the entire 2 week testing period when I replaced dozens of pencils with broken points, sighed over greyish smudges on open response questions, and sharpened dozens of pencils daily, I found myself dreaming about using these pencils.
These BIC pencils are top quality; other mechanical pencils jam, or snap, or the erases fall out or leave smudges on the paper, and these pencils don't do any of that. From this teacher's point of view, these are the best mechanical pencils out there.

I found this to be a great buy. In part because I am a crossword puzzle fanatic. I do at least two crossword puzzles per day.
I was a fan of the Ticonderoga wood pencil, voted #1 wood pencil in the world and it was good until I discovered this little gem.
No sharpener required and a click on the eraser and you are ready to go.
Writing is so smooth and legible and when you need it the eraser is as clean as you can get.
I've been using this pencil about a month now and have yet to finish my first. When I do I'll toss it and grab the next and be so glad I made this purchase. A pack of 40 at 15 cents each will last a long while and when they're done I'll be sure to buy again.

I’vd been using these mechanical pencils for the past 6 years and they are pretty good. The only reason why I had to keep on buying more was because people would steal them from me. They work best for light use, so if you like to hand write a lot, I suggest getting a different style because after about 300 words, your hands will start to hurt and cramp. The lead doesn’t get jammed as other mechanical pencils and they last a long time.

I almost didn't buy these because someone had said they were very light in color. Keep in mind these are pencils, not markers, not pens, and not crayons. They are equally as vibrant as any other colored pencil. These are just simply mechanical colored pencils. With that said, as an adult I still enjoy mechanical pencils as much as I did when I was in 5th grade. I bought one set of these for my daughter to take to school being her first year she's allowed mechanical pencils. I was so zealous that I bought my own set for me. I plan to use them journaling as well as coloring in my adult coloring book. If you are looking for some color, these are really fun to use for any of your writing needs.

Nothing much to say other than, I have an addiction to mechanical pencils since I write pretty much everything in pencil. My favorite lead size just happens to be 0.7mm; and since I'm addicted to mechanical pencils, I'm always shopping for new ones - usually different styles, brands, etc. As of right now, this is my favorite pencil.
What I like about the pencil is how it has rubber around the bottom area, where you grip the pencil, and that makes it a comfortable pencil to hold. In addition, the lead isn't really soft, though it writes smooth enough that your words will glide across the page quite easily - so it feels like a soft lead. And since it's not really a hard lead - I believe it's HB - the lead has the ability to maintain a decently pointed tip, though not so pointed that it'll tear right through the paper.
Since the pack came with two pencils, I gave one to my daughter, and kept one for myself, and have noticed that it is my "go-to" pencil because of everything I've mentioned, plus its design makes it easy to bring more lead out of the pencil - you click just above the rubber area where your fingers rest. Also, it's nice that the pencils also come with the ability to adjust and refill the eraser head by twisting the top. Adding more lead may seem a bit more tedious since you have to remove the top of the pencil with the eraser sits, but it 's really not too big a deal.
One more note about erasing, I erase a lot - I mean - I erase a ton!! and sometimes when you use the eraser that is inside of the pencil, it can retract while you're erasing. It's the main reason that I only use that eraser for small mistakes. To combat that, I own several stand-alone erasers - I'm addicted to those as well, and for the most part, I use those for majority of my erasing needs because it's easier to cover more area and get a cleaner erase job that way. I've found that the this Staedtler Mars Latex-Free Eraser, White, 1 Eraser (STD52650) and thisFaber-Castell Dust-Free Vinyl Erasers each are complimentary to the pencil - right now, the Faber-Castell is my favorite, though it's way softer than the Staedtler.
