Can you put a new mattress on an old base?

If you're considering buying a new mattress, you may be wondering if you can put it on your old bed frame or base. The answer is maybe. It really depends on the condition of your old base and the type of new mattress you're considering. If your old base is in good condition and is the right size for your new mattress, then you may be able to use it. However, if your old base is starting to show signs of wear and tear, or if it's the wrong size for your new mattress, then you'll need to buy a new one

Does a mattress topper help you sleep better?

A mattress topper can help you sleep better by providing additional comfort and support. By conforming to the contours of your body, a mattress topper can help reduce pressure points that can cause discomfort and disrupt your sleep. Additionally, a mattress topper can help to insulate your body from the cooler temperature of the mattress, helping you to stay warm and comfortable throughout the night.

How do I choose a good mattress?

There are a few things to keep in mind when purchasing a mattress. First, you should know the different types of mattresses available. There are four main types of mattresses: innerspring, foam, air, and water. Innerspring mattresses are the most popular and have coils that provide support. Foam mattresses are made of layers of different densities of foam and are very popular for people with back pain. Air mattresses have chambers that can be inflated or deflated to adjust the firmness. Water mattresses are filled with water and can be adjusted to different

How long are mattresses good for?

How long a mattress will last depends on a number of factors, including the quality of the mattress, how often it is used, and how well it is cared for. A high-quality mattress can last for up to 10 years, while a lower-quality mattress may only last for 5 years. If a mattress is used frequently, it may need to be replaced sooner than if it is used only occasionally. Proper care of a mattress can also help to extend its life.

Vibe 12-Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress | Bed in a Box, [Mattress Only], Twin Review:

It seems to be a recurring theme that those of us looking for a new mattress at a reasonable cost conduct extensive study. I spent weeks looking online for various mattresses at various retailers and trying to find out which ones were offering discounts (I tried to pick which one I wanted before Amazon Prime week, but I simply wasn't ready to decide by then!). Due to the sheer number of people who had tried the beds, I looked at mattresses that had thousands of evaluations because I believed those to be the most trustworthy. I looked at beds that didn't have a lot of reviews (like this one with, oh, 400–700 hundred, I forget), and I also used Google searches to locate reviews that were more in-depth and from experts. My aim was to spend between $250 and $300 on a king-size mattress. I can't recall exactly what convinced me to choose this bed, but I think it was a bit cheaper for the 12 inch size compared to the 10 inch, and from my research I did gather that the general consensus was to get as many inches as possible (that's what she said) because a memory foam bed would probably not expand as widely as it should. So, it was the Vibe bed!I placed my order on a Thursday, and it was scheduled to arrive on Saturday (the day my new bed would be delivered), but surprise, surprise, I received it by Friday night! As you can see, the box arrived in excellent shape (something I think some have complained about). Since I'm a single woman, I had to carry it up to my second-floor bedroom. I'll admit that getting the box upstairs and into my room required some extra effort, but I was able to walk it inside the house. Definitely wait to open the packaging before removing the bed from it.When I got upstairs, I spread out some blankets and removed the box (while leaving the plastic on). The mattress extended to around 8 inches and 10 inches in less than 20 minutes after I unrolled it. It seems strange, but with two kids I did not want the plastic off until the mattress was going to be immediately covered with a mattress protector and sheet! I couldn't help but try it out, so I cut the plastic a little and crawled in. It was surprisingly cozy!It wasn't particularly firm, but because my ideal bed feels like a soft pillow, I did sense a difference there. Otherwise, it was OK. Since I am aware that adding a topper would make this bed even more beautiful, I am okay with that. The bed was fully extended to its full 12 inches two days later (I didn't actually check the following day). I was VERY surprised because it appeared from the images in some reviews of memory foam beds that the mattress' borders never actually assumed a rounded, square shape. This one not! This mattress closely resembles a standard, even mattress. And although the fact that I've been so exhausted lately may have something to do with it, I have never slept better on a bed! I usually miss the alarm I set to wake me up halfway through the night so I can see that I have more time to sleep. All she wrote was, "I cuddle up in this bed with my lovely warm comforter."Since I don't know how someone may attribute being hot to the mattress and not, say, the covers, I can't remark on whether the mattress gets warm.Overall, the only way this bed could be improved is if it were a tiny bit softer, but for the price, I'd absolutely choose it again.I'm hoping I don't experience what some memory foam users complain about, which is that the sides gradually start to sag. Overall, I apologize for the length of this review, but I wanted to provide information that would have encouraged me to make a purchase when I was shopping. Hope this is useful!

Linenspa 10 Inch Memory Foam and Innerspring Hybrid Mattress - Medium Feel - Twin Review:

I now have two of these for my two kids at home. My daughter needed a new mattress, so I got my first one in September 2018 to replace her previous one. The mattress was fantastic, and my daughter liked it. In February 2019, I was going to place an order for a second mattress because my kid also required a new one when I spotted a ton of reviews (many of them recent) including tales of bedbugs. Now, let me explain this incident I've had. I'm in the hospitality industry and look after military training students' rotating dorms, which is a lot like a hotel. Bed bugs have nothing to do with personal hygiene or cleanliness; they may infest everything, from the sleaziest no-tell hotel to the poshest 5-star Hyatt Regency. As such, we are all educated to recognize, seek for, and deal with bed bugs should a problem ever develop. Additionally, bed bugs are not just found in beds; they will travel and hide on or in anything. This includes clothing, shoes, carpets, bags, curtains, laptops, alarm clocks, and books. For those reviewers who claim to have bedbugs, even if you thought the issue was resolved when you threw out the mattress, your home is still infested with bedbugs (or previously was and you just now noticed).Returning to the Linenspa mattresses... They're very comfortable and reasonably priced, and both my kids adore them. I LOVE THESE THINGS. As someone who can recognize those tiny devils, I had already bought one back in 2018 and never had any problems, so our home is clear of them. After reading the terrible mattress bug reports, I went ahead and got a second mattress. If you're ever concerned about something similar, you should do the same.ASSESS THE MATTRESS OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE AND OPEN IT!I just spread a bedsheet on the driveway, opened the box, looked at the vacuum-sealed wrap, and found nothing. I then opened it up on the sheet on the driveway (to keep it clean, obviously), and really examined this thing. Nope, no bugs, no smells—just a lovely, clean mattress. No problems carrying it inside, pleased son... If, as some allege, you genuinely have one that is contaminated and you opened it inside and slept on it, then, yea, your entire house is now afflicted (and possibly was before you bought a new mattress).I just want to be clear that as someone who works in the hospitality industry and is trained in spotting and dealing with those little devils long before it becomes a problem, I have purchased two of these mattresses from this company and have never experienced any bugs or odors. If I ever need a third or fourth mattress, I would purchase another. However, if you ever suspect or worry about something like this from this company, or ANY company, just open it outside on a clean day.

Ashley Furniture Signature Design - 10 Inch Chime Express Memory Foam Mattress - Bed in a Box - Twin - White Review:

*All linked pictures were snapped four hours after unpacking.I am extremely happy with this mattress so far, but only time will tell how it holds up. On a Cyber Monday deal, I purchased two 12" full size mattresses for my children (this item), as well as a 12" Elite mattress in king size for my spouse and me. These are our first memory foam mattresses, and I did a ton of research before deciding on them over the course of a year. These were sent in good packaging. Each mattress was delivered in a transparent wrapper that had been shrink-wrapped around it. They were then rolled, wrapped in a sturdy milky-colored plastic, and lastly placed in a manufacturer's box that was clearly marked. Before unpacking, we let the children's beds sit at room temperature for a day. Each came with clear setup instructions, even though they weren't necessary. If you purchased the bed in the cold, I would strongly advise waiting until it reached room temperature before unpacking. It significantly quickens the recuperation process. The beds for the children were set up quickly, with the corners taking a little longer. Ours took longer, spending a few days in the cold in my car. Nevertheless, none of the three took the specified 48 hours on the packaging.I've read a lot about foam beds' smells. None of these had any smell to me at all, not even when I first opened them.Deep pocket sheets, pads, and protectors are what you need. Regular sheets just don't work with the variety of linens we have. All of these perfectly fit the frame they are on because to Ashley's meticulous attention to normal bed size specifications; one is really just a little bit too big. You need sheets with deep pockets because of it and the height. The beds relieve pressure but do not enclose you. These are firm, which is what I prefer in a bed. I'm hoping a firmer mattress will last longer. Although the beds do respond to increased weight and pressure, they are not very soft. I had the impression that switching positions was simple. Although not to the same extent as an interspring, a partner's weight and motions can nevertheless be felt. The choice of foundation will likely have an effect on this as well. These are not too hot to sleep in for us. I can't comment to how they may keep heat if that were the case because, as children's beds, they aren't covered with thick blankets and comforters.Time will be the biggest test, as I indicated. Our old mattress, which cost $1,200, lasted less than 4 years. Hell, it was worth the risk at $150 per bed. These need just last six months in order to be similar in terms of cost longevity.TL/DR....Motives for purchasing: Price, a well-known brand or company, and a base made entirely of solid foam.

PrimaSleep Wave Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress, 10'' H, Twin, Blue Review:

Before making a decision on a bed, I researched around a thousand reviews. In the future, I'll update this review to reflect how it performs, but for the time being, I wanted to add to the reviews that overworked consumers like myself will encounter. Although I only had it for two weeks when I wrote this review, the comments are still valid almost a year later! In general, I adore this bed. It arrived on schedule, and I let it to expand over almost the whole 48 hours as advised. Even though it's only gotten to around 9", I'm not too concerned because it's already quite comfy and a good size; I wouldn't change a thing. As I allowed the mattress to rise, the faint chemical scent vanished. I also heard that fiberglass could be problematic, so keep the cover on. I think it's there to shield the mattress from various substances and isn't meant to be taken off. I didn't do it, thus I don't have any issues with it.Mold was my biggest worry. Fortunately, no other reviews had mentioned mold, so I felt secure. And when I got it, there was absolutely no sign of mold, either in appearance or scent. nice stuffThey are entirely correct when they say that it is both soft and firm. Perhaps the first two inches are soft, while a firmer foam supports the remaining distance. I can sink in thanks to this, despite just weighing 120 pounds, and not keep sinking. Because I could never sink in the way I desired, I detested memory foam because it felt far too stiff. I genuinely believe that I have the support I require. I have even been sleeping through the nights, and I have never woken up in any agony. Until you receive a new mattress, I suppose you don't understand how much you were suffering on your old one!And lastly, it even has a really nice mattress for two people! I haven't yet noticed any cuddling postures causing my arm to hurt or for it to lose circulation. I realize that seems a little strange, but I think it would be helpful to anyone seeking for a mattress for two. Since I prefer a soft bed and he prefers a firm one, the "medium" feel of both soft and firm has kept us both extremely satisfied.I later revised my review because the second main criticism I've read is that it doesn't last very long. As of right now, it continues to function perfectly! I'm still in such good shape!

Twin Mattress, Molblly 8 inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress with CertiPUR-US Certified Foam Bed Mattress in a Box for Sleep Cooler & Pressure Relief, Twin Size Review:

This bed has been mine for over a week now. I genuinely believed that this was a dream. This bed is quite rigid. spare neither time nor money. I wish I had paid attention to the other reviewers who mentioned how stiff it was. Because there are so many more positive reviews about "sinking into" the mattress, I kept thinking that maybe it would take some time for it to break in and perhaps loosen up. However, this bed is exceedingly inflexible; it actually makes me feel like I'm sleeping on the floor.I should also mention that my boyfriend like a stiff mattress, and this one is even too firm for him.We are unsure if there is a defect. If I could roll this back up, I would refund it.UPDATE: I raised my rating from one to five stars. The business contacted me the same evening my review was published and asked what they could do to help. They provided me with an extra mattress pad (which made a HUGE difference). I strongly advise looking into purchasing their 2 inch mattress topper if you find this mattress to be too firm. I appreciate the way this business handled my case and their desire to assist. So inspired

Ashley Furniture Signature Design - 10 Inch Chime Express Hybrid Innerspring - Firm Mattress - Bed in a Box - Twin - White Review:

I chose this bed after three months of extensive research. I desired soft yet strong clothing. I came to the conclusion that a hybrid was our best bet. This was first seen on the Ashley website. The 12 inch queen was listed at $599 and was available for $249. I was thrilled to see this deal because I had intended to spend MUCH MORE. To buy a new mattress, I set aside $700. I began reading reviews. Very few were bad, and most were excellent. I made the decision to see if Amazon Prime was an option by checking this page. Though it wasn't, it was still less expensive, and delivery was still free. According to the Ashley website, delivery takes roughly 3 weeks. I gambled and placed an order on this site on August 31 (a Friday), knowing that I would receive it by September 14th. Since it shipped from California and I live in Washington, it was originally scheduled to arrive on September 7th, but due to a natural disaster, it was delayed and instead arrived on September 10th. This gave me much joy! Be forewarned, it is extremely heavy—about 100 pounds. Because I'm obstinate, I moved it and set it up by myself, but you should really use two people. Even though I was having a terrible time, I was determined to set up before the hubby got home. It immediately expanded after being opened. Three hours later, at bedtime, the topping had fully inflated. When you first opened the package, there was a strong chemical scent (typical of memory foam), but it quickly disappeared. Oh my, after I fell asleep, I was in heaven! The few reviews that claim this is as hard as concrete are utterly CRAZY! While being extremely plush and soft, it is also highly supportive. similar to snoozing on a marshmallow Even my non-luxury-loving hubby fell to the ground and exclaimed, "Wow!" It was the BEST night of sleep ever (he snored the entire night, lol). I have NO hip or shoulder ache when I wake up. My arms won't go asleep for the night. In the morning, I can go without caffeine. This mattress has instantly made a 1000% improvement in my life. My only gripe is that it is SOOOOOOOOO comfortable that I don't want to wake up in the morning. We're quickly purchasing 2 more for our youngsters. I have no doubt that the more pricey $4000 models are superior. But if you're like me and on a tight budget, this mattress is for you! Plus, I had money left over to buy new pillows and bedding. Final Verdict: I heartily endorse this bed!

Zinus Ultima Comfort Memory Foam 6 Inch Mattress, Narrow Twin Review:

This review covers the first three months of use. Basically, I'm blown away! I have never slept on anything better than this. I've slept on (or in) everything from floors to air pads, dorm room bunks, blow-up beds, filthy motels, and 5-star hotels. I slept on a luxury queen pillow top mattress and box spring for the last 6 years, but we moved into a new place and I decided to use these mattresses temporarily while I took the time to test out my next long-term set. On morning number one, for both my daughter and I, we couldn't stop talking about how insanely comfortable the mattresses were. I'm 6'5", 180lbs, and I went with the queen 8" mattress for me and the full 4" mattress for my daughter.I used to fall asleep with books, magazines, and the remote control on the bed next to me and wake up with them on the floor. Now, they stay right where I left them. I may roll over once or twice, but I typically wake up in the same position I fell asleep in. When I used my Garmond health monitor, I could see a distinct positive difference in my deep sleep cycle between the previous mattress and this Zinus Sleep Master. The mattress comes vacuum sealed in a thick plastic wrap; be careful slicing it open as it's tight on the mattress and you could accidentally cut the removable (and washable) zippered wrap or even into the mattress itself. Regarding the odor that people have complained about, the packaging was fine. The box is big and bulky but I could carry it up 2 flights of stairs without rest or the need for help.I didn't see it mentioned whether or not the mattress seal was broken or the box it came in had any damage. I'd be turned off as well if I saw that kind of mold and wouldn't buy ag. I'm not sure if it's a factory issue or a storage issue. Both mattresses came vacuum sealed in heavy plastic - heavy enough to keep the mattress compressed until it was removed from the box AND cut open.No longer than 24 hours for the 4" and 8" sizes, it did take some time to decompress, but we both slept on them the same night and had an amazing night's sleep.I did bought two collapsible smart frames (another excellent purchase I'll have to evaluate later), which would essentially replace your present mattress and sit on top of your current box spring in my setup as they are high and built to use bins below for storage.About a month ago, my daughter's fruit punch Gatorade (red), which was not completely sealed in her soccer bag, leaked into the center of the mattress. To clean it, we used a little detergent and warm water to saturate the spot and pressed a towel down to absorb it. We repeated this process until there was no red coming up, but there is a noticeable red stain (as there would be on any mattress, I'm sure).I'll be ordering another 4" full size for the pull out sofa mattress, and I'll purchase my daughter a 4" twin when she leaves for college. In the future, I'd acquire the 12" for myself (because I like a high bed) and the 8" can go to the guest room.

AmazonBasics Memory Foam Mattress - 10-Inch, Twin Size - Soft Bed, Plush Feel, CertiPUR-US Certified, Breathable, Easy Set-Up Review:

Whatever you pay for, you get. It's a good mattress; I got the 12-inch size for the guest room where it won't see much use, so it should last for a while. The bed is quite soft. I'm accustomed to sleeping on my tempurpedic beds at home. This isn't even close to being one of those, but that's good because it's so cheap. It comes in a small package and is simple to install. Unlike some foam mattresses, it doesn't smell. The most crucial aspect is that it is comfy. If the support was better, I would have given it a five-star rating. It simply needs to be a little firmer; I don't like it when I sit on the edge of the bed and the entire mattress compresses to the bed frame.

LUCID 10 Inch Latex Foam Mattress - Ventilated Design - CertiPUR-US Certified Foam - 10 Year Warranty - Twin with LUCID Encasement Mattress Protector - Twin Review:

Update 11/2018: After sleeping on this mattress for two years, I can still state that it is fantastic. But over time and with continued usage, it has unquestionably softened and lost some of its initial "firmness." In contrast to extremely soft mattresses, there are no dents or sinkholes where my husband and I both sleep. I believe I received complete value for the price paid. When we move in approximately a year, we'll replace it with a different model of the same one, and we'll relocate this one into our guest room.Original Assessment Since this bad boy showed up at my door around two months ago, I have nothing but positive things to say. The most comfortable mattress I've ever used (with the Marriott Hotels memory foam beds coming in a very close second).Unboxing revealed no unpleasant smell. After being opened up, the mattress took around 3 hours to expand to its full 10" size. It is by far the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on and is quite solid. It cradles your joints in a really supportive way, but you don't sink into it as you would with memory foam. Instead, you float on top of it. Even if the mattress only lasts us two years, the purchase price and replacement costs are still justified.Expect a few nights of neck stiffness if you've been sleeping on a very soft, plush pillowtop bed. Despite the significant joint discomfort I've experienced for years, this bed is giving me some of the finest sleep of my life. Although I can't say it is making my joint discomfort any better, at least I am sleeping now rather than toiling through the night. The BEST aspect is that you can't feel your bed companion move at all. My significant other, dog, and cat are all free to come and go during the course of the night without the mattress even moving. My four-year-old can jump on the mattress next to me as I sit in bed drinking hot coffee, and the only thing that could spill is his flailing limbs (not the bouncing of the mattress). It doesn't bounce at all.Adult "bouncing activities" are not hindered by the absence of bounce either.

Zinus Memory Foam 10 Inch / Supreme / Cloud-like Mattress, Twin Review:

Hopefully, this evaluation will assist you in choosing between the Zinu Ultra and a Leesa memory foam.I switched to a Leesa mattress two years ago from a traditional spring mattress. I paid about 600 dollars for a Leesa 10" mattress thanks to a discount I had.To be quite honest, after narrowing my options down to the Casper and the Leesa, I immediately regretted not choosing the Casper. The Leesa was rigid and only managed to stretch to a maximum of 9 inches. I spent a lot of time sleeping on the couch because it was more comfy and the couple constantly fighting on the Leesa. I have to say that the Leesa really became more softer and more comfy after approximately a year, so overall, I can't really complain.A friend of mine introduced me to a Zinus about two months ago. I decided to chop it up and use it for archery practice after realizing how inexpensive they were. If they weren't any better than the Leesa, I figured. I purchased the Zinus deluxe king bed frame in addition to receiving the king mattress. I flipped the mattress open and gave it three full days to expand. The time it took to reach 12 inches was accurate. It makes a significant impact as the Zinus is completely 3 inches thicker than the Leesa. From the first night, I was overjoyed. It is much softer than the Leesa and feels like sleeping on a cloud (even after beating the Leesa into a softer mattress the last couple years). I waited two weeks before writing this review to ensure that nothing important would occur quickly and to ensure that I wouldn't write it on the spur of the moment. I am still ecstatic about how comfortable and restful it is after two weeks. To summarize, the Leesa is a better option if you want a very firm bed. I would steer clear of the Leesa if you sleep on your side like I do. Additionally, the Leesa is more than twice as expensive and of lesser quality. If you're looking for a cloud to sleep on, Leesa is really worse, so don't let the price difference trick you into believing it's better.Because I have slept on "slightly" more comfy mattresses before, I only gave it four instead of five stars. However, those mattresses cost more than $2500 and shouldn't be valued at 2300 more than a mattress that costs $200.I'll make one more addition. Due to numerous reviews claiming that this mattress is rough, I nearly decided against buying it. Wow, these individuals define hard very differently than my wife and I do. If the Zinus was much softer, I would hit the frame and fall to the bottom. In contrast to the Leesa-like green tea one, I would unquestionably suggest this one with the cushion top. But I'm just speculating based on reviews and the makeup of the foam.

How often should you replace your mattress?

Most mattresses should be replaced every 5 to 7 years. However, this varies depending on the type of mattress, how often it is used, and how well it is maintained. For example, a mattress that is used daily may need to be replaced more often than one that is used only occasionally.

Is it better to have soft or firm mattress?

There isn't really a definitive answer to this question as it depends on personal preference. Some people find that a soft mattress is more comfortable and helps them to get a good night's sleep, while others find that a firm mattress is better for their back and helps to prevent aches and pains. Ultimately, it is down to each individual to decide which type of mattress is best for them.

What are the 3 types of mattresses?

Casper: This mattress is a great all-around option. It's perfect for people who want a medium-firm mattress that's still comfortable. 3

What brand is the best mattress?

There are many great mattresses on the market, but it really depends on what you are looking for and what is most important to you. What do you do with old mattresses?

Most people don't know what to do with old mattresses. There are a few options for recycling them, but it's not always easy to find a place that will take them. Here are a few ideas for what to do with old mattresses: 1. Check with your local recycling center to see if they accept mattresses. 2. See if there are any mattress recycling programs in your area. 3. Donate your mattress to a local charity or thrift store. 4. Try to sell your mattress online or through a classified ad.
