These are by far the best makeup blenders I've ever used, and I've tried at least three others. Due to the exorbitant price of the original beauty blender, I have never used one, but these seem to function just as well and cost much less. However, with them, I felt that they sucked up a lot of makeup, even damp, and that the sponge broke down and formed "splits" in the foam after only a few weeks. I have tried at least two other identical sponge blenders, and they both worked very well. I would have been content with that, given the price, but after discovering them approximately six months ago, I realized I had wasted money on those other things. These are outstanding. Since I only recently began using the fourth one after buying them in March, I still have one left in the package, so I have some time until I run out. However, I'm currently investing in a new set, which inspired me to consider writing this review.Although I suppose some people use these dry, I usually use them wet since I find that using a damp sponge prevents the sponge from absorbing as much makeup. Additionally, I believe it makes my skin look flawless (I tried the silicone ones and bleh! I struggled to get the makeup to mix properly; it was like wiping makeup all over my face. Additionally, I believe that maintaining my face's moisture throughout the day is beneficial. I use a lot of strong treatments on my face (salicylic acid, benzyl peroxide, tea tree oil, etc.), which can cause drying and peeling skin, and I feel like this sponge helps apply over these areas smoothly. I have problem skin, with hormonal acne around my period and cystic pimples that come out when I'm stressed (which is often). I also frequently develop scabs, and I believe the sponge does a respectable job of concealing these areas with makeup.Each morning, I apply my liquid foundation and occasionally concealer with the sponge. Every day, I gently remove the old makeup with an antibacterial gel soap (from Bath and Body Works!). It takes about 30 seconds, and each time, it looks virtually brand new. The sponge will eventually develop cracks from regular usage and washing, which makes it harder for the makeup to be applied properly, which is the only reason I switch every 4-6 weeks. The pink ones appear to hold up and clean up far better than the other colors, which is sort of surprising. Perhaps that is merely a coincidence.Overall, I couldn't be happier with sponges costing $2.00 each. I've urged everybody reading to buy these, just like I've urged my sisters to do. I'm not sure how I ever used my fingers to apply makeup!

Although these are the real deal and feel precisely the same as the ones I bought at Ulta, I was a little worried that they might be fake or of worse quality. Even their orangish tint is the same. With the exception of the occasional sale at Ulta, this price is the most affordable I've found, therefore I'll keep buying them from Amazon.I will only ever use Real Techniques sponges because of their superior quality. I'm astonished by how much better they've gotten in concealing bags and undereye circles and distributing foundation.I recently discovered how to wash them in a lingerie bag in the washing machine on YouTube. It's a good idea to have the small sponges. They're called eraser sponges, but I've never used one to correct cosmetic mistakes; instead, I've used them to apply concealer beneath my eyes, concealer around my nose, concealer on my chin, etc. to small areas. Even applying highlight to your cheekbones with it is an option. The minis in the multi-sponge set are identical to it and are made of the same fabric and texture as the larger sponges. I appreciate being able to buy them separately now.Remember that RT sponges are a little more prone to tearing than BB brand sponges, so wash them gently. However, given the cost, it's a terrific item to have on hand and a steal.

This sponge is wonderful. Under water, they do enlarge, and they mix my makeup better than any other sponge I've used. The only reason I can think of why people might not like the sponge is that it isn't as dense as some of the top sponges, such as the well-known "Beauty Blender" you can purchase from Sephora. This is because a sponge that is less dense (more soft) will absorb more product than a sponge that is more firm and doesn't take as much product from the face. To me, this is a double-edged sword because the firmer the sponge, the harder it is to blend foundation or any other product smoothly because it seems like the substance is just moved around more than it is absorbed into the skin.The ideal sponge, in my opinion, is softer and easier on the face when "bouncing" it around your skin. Yes, it might absorb somewhat more materials, but the amount is small and cleaning is much simpler. It lasts longer than the more firm ones because it is more porous and the soap bubbles assist the makeup come off the sponge while cleaning. The more firm ones trap foundation inside them, making them more "germ-y." You can't beat the price, so I've bought these again a number of times despite trying other, purportedly higher-quality sponges and still going back to these. Any inquiries. I would want to respond, but I have no life.

There are a few things I felt needed to be highlighted after reading several of the negative reviews. I advise cleaning any sponge before using it for the first time. It will remove any lingering dye that wasn't rinsed away before packaging as well as packaging odors. (That addresses about 30% of the unfavorable comments)A beauty blender is NOT what this sponge is like. Why people use this sponge and expect it to function like a beauty blender baffles me. When somewhat moist, liquid makeup applies best. It develops the product similarly to a brush rather than sheering it out like a wet beauty blender. When using it as foundation, I've found that getting it wet and pressing it into a towel to keep it soft but fairly dry gives me the greatest results. After dabbing the substance (foundation) onto your skin with a finger first, you can then smooth it out with the sponge. Concealer for the under eyes also applies well using that technique.Another technique is to apply powders dry using it to apply blush, highlight, contour, under eye setting powder, or any setting powder. AS LONG AS YOU USE A LIGHT HAND, IT DOESN'T MOVE FOUNDATION OR CONCEALER WHEN USED TO APPLY POWDER ON TOP. It won't blend well or look attractive if you bang the sponge against your face.Almost all of my makeup can be applied with only this sponge. Because I clean it after every usage, you can easily clean it with just a sponge, soap, and warm water. (That addresses about 60% of the negative comments)Finally, the sponge won't break or rip easily if you follow the detailed cleaning recommendations. The sponge should be thoroughly cleaned after each usage. Nothing else should be used to clean it besides soap and water. Don't utilize the tiny pink silicon piece that is included with the beauty blender solid, for example. The soft material of your sponge will be torn apart. You don't need to beat the little man up to clean it because product doesn't actually get fully absorbed into the sponge like a beauty blender.
