Mail slots are legal in the United States. The United States Postal Service has regulations in place for mailboxes and mail slots. Mailboxes must be durable, weatherproof, and secure. Mail slots must be large enough to accommodate the mail, and must be placed in a location that is convenient for the mail carrier.
Yes, your mail carrier can write on your mailbox. They can also put a sticker on your mailbox.
There's no definitive answer to this question - it depends on your preference and your local postal regulations. In some cases, your mailbox may be required to have numbers visible from the street in order to help your postal carrier deliver your mail correctly. In other cases, numbers may simply make it easier for you to find your mailbox in a crowded neighborhood. Ultimately, the decision is up to you.
Most people put their mailbox numbers on with regular old paint. However, over time, the paint can fade and become difficult to see. If your mailbox number is hard to see, it can be a problem for your mail carrier and for emergency responders. One solution is to use reflective paint for your mailbox numbers. This type of paint is designed to be more visible in low light and at night. It can be a great way to make sure your mailbox is always easy to find.

I simply have too many wonderful things to say about both the vendor and this sign!Even in the dark and pouring rain outdoors, this sign is great, highly reflective, and simple to read. I really enjoy the way it appears because the letters are properly aligned and highly readable yet don't stand out too much from the foliage behind it. Both the text and the background are reflected. Much better than the outdated peel-and-stick numerals that were "reflective" that we had on our prior mailbox! They actually looked awful because they had worn out and damaged over time. The vendor welcomes people to get in touch with them if they have any issues and provides wonderful, friendly customer care. Excellent of them.I had to attach the sign to a large galvanized steel pipe, and at first I thought I would have to get inventive. However, I later learned that I could just drill holes in the pipe, and it worked out well. The pipe serves as the mailbox's "post" and has an attached square mounting base.I wanted a sign that looks amazing with it, and this is it! We recently replaced our old "locking" mailbox with a Fort Knox mailbox (https://www.amazon.com/Fort-Knox-Mailbox-M1-LT/dp/B00OTXDLMI/ref=sr 1 2?s=hi

Item includes a Set of 2 Personalized Mailbox Decals (One for each side) with Family Name and Address

In August 2018, we purchased these decals and applied them to our mailbox. We used the first sticker to put our name on it, the second to put our address on it, and the third decal to place the house number on the front. They stuck to our box well. Then, just to be safe, we applied a layer of clear spray paint over it. Despite the harshest winter in forty years, our mailbox still looks just as wonderful as the day the decals were applied.

I decided to attempt these numbers since I loved how they appeared and we had bought a brand-new postal box. I've used rub on numbers before, so I knew it might be a little difficult. Even though the surface was completely smooth, they wouldn't come off. I had to prod them a little with the card I used to "burnish," but ultimately they gave. I followed their step-by-step six-step directions, which included washing the area with rubbing alcohol first. If you don't reuse too many of the numbers in your actual address, you can redo the 5 tore because you get 4 of each number. I would be sure not to apply these statistics in a hasty manner. We just left the box outdoors tonight, and even though it isn't nearly cold outside (it's between 37 and 40 degrees), we're crossing our fingers that they'll stay. After application, the product should not be left outside in temperatures below freezing for more than 48 hours. As you can see in the image, our new box has a granite gray color, which is a little darker than I had anticipated. Just so you know, they are not reflective. Time will tell if they will take hold, and if new information appears valuable, I won't think twice about updating my reviews. I hope you found my review and the pictures useful.

Each number in my purchase was bagged to prevent scratching and sent in a little recyclable paper box. They were a touch bigger than I had anticipated, despite the fact that the size was explicitly stated on the add 2 and 3/4 inches, but that ended up being just right for my mailbox. Since I live in a rural region and wanted it to shine out clearly, especially at night, I went with silver. I used an all-purpose cleaner to clean the painted mailbox (you can use Windex, 409, or whatever you like to use). Because my mailbox is older and hasn't been cleaned in a while, I actually cleaned it and let it dry a few times. [Or repainted, as I saw when I later looked at the photos] The beautiful, chrome-like letters feature a 3M-like, incredibly strong adhesive backing. Although it isn't identified in the advertisement as 3M, I can assure you that it sticks very much like it. Make sure your numbers are exactly where you want them before pressing them down. The first number I applied wasn't exactly straight, and even though it was barely touching the mailbox and I hadn't pressed it on, it was challenging to remove off and fix. I have a good feeling that these figures will endure. What a powerful adhesive that is. If you don't have some fingernails to help, you might want to use an Exacto knife or razor blade to begin peeling the backing off the adhesive, as I did. Simply use the sharp edge of the pick to rip away the paper backing, and once the adhesive backing starts to come off, it comes off quite quickly. After aligning it and pressing it on, you're done! While these aren't reflective, the chrome is really glossy and makes the numbers quite easy to see at night. I wish I had gone out outside at dusk or after dark to take another shot. I would suggest these to anyone who requires numbers for address or quick identification marks.

These figures are BEAUTIFUL. On my mailbox, two inches was the perfect size for four digits. So lovely! It was a nightmare removing old stickers; even after using goo be gone and rubbing alcohol, I still needed to sand the sticky material off. I only needed to apply a few sandpaper strokes before using paint to restore the texture's smoothness. Next, spray paint. The new brass stick-ons came next. But you'd better set them up quickly since they have significant sticking power! After that, use clear spray paint to give the brass an even shine and prolong its brightness. Phew! The outcome: Totally worthwhile!

The address of the former owners of our home was on the mailbox, but the address numbers were hidden by the mail flag, so I purchased these. In order to prepare the surface and place the decal, I scraped off the old vinyl numbers (I didn't have to buy a brand-new whole address; just the digits, which was awesome!). Then I followed the instructions for cleaning off. very simple I scraped, scrubbed, and painted both sets of numbers on the mailbox in less than five minutes. So fulfilling! I'll definitely place another order from Minglewood Trading once I'm ready to redo the entire address in a different font.

All along, I was unsure of how I would attach this to the mailbox. My worries were allayed when my product arrived unharmed in a tidy box. Don't worry about how the product delivers; there is an insert in the package with some straightforward instructions and, more significantly, a link to installation videos.Great video, I must say. The young woman installing in the video had some clear difficulties getting the transfer to run efficiently. I carefully followed her directions and experienced no similar problems. I felt the video was excellent because they didn't try to make it look like a simple or flawless installation. superb workThe cuts are excellent. When creating your pre-application plan, you should measure three to four times, check that your numbers are level, and then follow the directions because the transfer paper isn't always cut squarely.Since I didn't have a spray bottle of soapy water, I used a paper towel and a drop of dish soap in a drinking glass. It was equally effective as the spray bottle.Nice product, and most importantly, nice installation instructions. I'm overjoyed.

To find numerals that will stick and not peel off, I looked at neighbourhood hardware stores as well as standard national franchises. Additionally, I wanted the numbers to have a clear background so that the mailbox could be seen behind them. The gold colour truly popped out and gave my white mailbox a bit of contemporary elegance, and these functioned fantastically.

My mailbox was leaking water, so I recently had to replace it. The only alternative I could discover for numbers was to purchase a complete set for about the same price as the mailbox. This is far more effective and inexpensive. This came in the form of separate numbers that were already properly lined up with one another. Peel the first strip off, position the entire decal carefully, and then push. To firmly attach the numbers to your mailbox, run the edge of a credit card over them. At last, carefully peel the backing strip off. Done. I got the same outcomes as the person in the product's picture. Perfect!
There is no federal law dictating whether numbers must be present on both sides of a mailbox, but the United States Postal Service suggests that they are. This is for the carrier's convenience, as it allows him or her to more easily identify the correct address. Many homeowners' associations also require that numbers be placed on both sides of the mailbox for aesthetic reasons.
The answer is no. While the United States Postal Service (USPS) is responsible for delivering mail to your home or business, they do not own the mailbox or curbside structure.
To label your mailbox, you will need to purchase a mailbox decal or sign from a local hardware or home improvement store. Once you have the decal, simply peel off the backing and stick it to the front of your mailbox. If you are using a sign, you will need to drill holes into the sign and then screw it onto the mailbox.
There are a few ways to attach brass numbers to a mailbox. The most common is to use small screws or nails. Another option is to use adhesive numbers or letters.
There's no rule that says a mailbox has to match the door, but it's definitely something to consider when you're choosing a mailbox for your home. If you have a modern home, a sleek and simple mailbox would look best. If your home is more traditional, a more ornate mailbox would be a better choice. Ultimately, it's up to you and what you think looks best.
Most homeowners choose to set their mailbox posts in concrete for stability and longevity. While it is possible to set the post in the ground without concrete, it is not recommended. Concrete will help keep the post from moving and will prevent it from rotting.
