No, all machine screws are not the same size. They come in a range of sizes, depending on the application. The most common sizes are #4, #6, #8, and #10.
Yes, machine screws are self-tapping. They are designed to create their own threads in a pre-drilled hole.
You can use machine screws in wood, but you will need to use a slightly different technique than you would use with wood screws. Instead of screwing the screws in with a screwdriver, you will need to use a drill to create a pilot hole for the screw. Once the pilot hole is created, you can screw the machine screw into the wood.
Yes, machine screws have different threads. They can have either a coarse or a fine thread, depending on the application.

All of the fasteners were good quality, properly threaded, and I had no issues using any of them. Bulk fasteners don't usually work like this, though. One of the reasons I advise testing the fit of the nuts on them before installing them is because of this. The big L and huge HD home centers only have the size in a 5 pack. It cost about $2.50 for the pack. Even though the box of 100 was more than I required, I now have another item to pass down to my kids.

To replace the rusty screws in the fireplace I'm renovating, I bought this screw. I could use a few of them, but some of the holes were too big, so I had to use a #10 screw in some of them. I must admit that I like these screws' Modified Truss heads. Like they do in my fireplace, they would look good on a finished sheet metal product.

I had an experience constructing a deck that you might find interesting. For fastening down interior boards, 2 1/2 inch screws work just well, but you'll need 3 inch screws for plank ends, where warping will be worse, and for interior locations where vertical warping causes a plank to bow away from the support. When fastened into the supporting joists, longer screws appear to have greater grip and can exert more force, "sucking down" the bow of the plank and creating a flatter deck. 90% of the time, 2 1/2 inch screws will do, and 10% 3 inch screws.

What I desired exactly. According to the chart, every piece within the plastic container is arranged correctly, and each group of hardware is put inside the plastic compartments in a little bag to prevent spillage while the container is being transported. Nice! I always search for tiny screws with matching washers and nuts throughout the year as I work on various minor projects, so this set will be quite useful for me. I became frustrated with wasting time looking through "junk drawers" and other objects to find what I needed. I also grew tired of overpaying at the hardware store for a few little bolts and nuts. Wish I had acquired such a kit years ago. Camper happy!

I had bought a grab bar for the shower, so I looked into the best technique to install it. Additionally, as a senior, I became aware of the value of a grab bar in my shower or bathroom. I was really lucky to avoid suffering a serious injury while taking a shower. When I put my foot down after washing and soaping the bottom of my foot, my entire body slid out from under me as if I were standing on a sheet of ice. Fortunately, I did not crash into the glass sliding door, since the result may have been much worse. I intended to drill through the ceramic wall tiles and attach the grip bar to a steel wall stud at the top and bottom at that point, but I digress, I knew I had to have a grab bar to grasp on to for stability at that point. I was intending to use some sort of mollies for the remaining four screws—two on top and two at the bottom. I looked up various grab bar attachment techniques on YouTube and found a video review of some screws dubbed "Walldogs" made by The Hillman Group. I opted to shift the grab bar over a few inches after seeing the video because it was so spectacular, and I ended up using six of these fantastic screws to firmly fasten it to the wall. The bar would not budge no matter how hard he tugged. This is a genuinely fantastic product, and I wholeheartedly endorse it.

In an effort to repair a slightly damaged thread on the battery handle for my Fuji X-H1, I purchased this along with a cheese platter from Small Rig. I simply had to cross my fingers that one of the screws would achieve the desired length, and wow was I delighted when it did. There were possibilities, and in the end, I had 4 screws that I could use to remedy the issue. It does not feel at all flimsy and the actual screws are of the highest quality.Additionally, it includes a rench thing to screw them in, though I imagine that any videographer would already have a ton of them lying around. Attractive pricing for a thoughtful product. This, together with the cheese platter, prevented me from shelling out an additional $250 for a new battery grip.I suggest!

These screws are for use with equipment/relay racks that are tapped for 12/24 screws

These were purchased for my Tripp-Lite SRWO8UBRKT network rack, which is tapped for a 12-24 screw. A 12-24 screw is used on the Tripp-Lite website and in my other two boxed racks. Not a 12-24 screw, this one. The strands are far too disjointed.Update: I discovered these screws work flawlessly after attempting a different rack of the same brand! As several of the screw positions are damaged or stripped, it appears that the other rack is problematic and has to be replaced. These screws work flawlessly with the other two racks of this model that I have.
Sheet metal screws are not typically used in wood, as they are not the best type of screw for this material. Wood screws are a better option for attaching wood to wood, as they are designed specifically for this purpose. However, in a pinch, sheet metal screws can be used in wood if necessary.
There are five types of screws: Phillips, slotted, Robertson, hex, and Torx. Phillips and slotted screws are the most common and can be found in most homes. Robertson and hex screws are used more in industry, and Torx screws are often used in electronics.
There are three types of screws: wood screws, drywall screws, and machine screws. Wood screws are used to fasten two pieces of wood together. Drywall screws are used to fasten drywall to wood or metal studs. Machine screws are used to fasten metal parts together.
