Excellent board for new users. 5'1" and less than 100 pounds, my daughter is. The buoyancy and construction of the board are fantastic because she can practically stand on it in our pool. The soft top doesn't need to be washed, but since it's foam, if you drop it on something hard (like I have), it will pierce the foam and destroy the board's neat appearance. This board doubles as a fantastic pool float for the kids when we are unable to get to the beach. On this contraption, my daughter rode her first waves, and I adore it.

By rating this product, I was able to show what I value most: excellent customer service. Fortunately, over the years of mostly utilizing Amazon Prime to make purchases, I have only sometimes had to return or exchange items. When I've had to do that, which has only happened a handful of times, it's typically a major pain in the neck in terms of the time required to resolve the problem and deal with the firm and/or its representatives, among other things. Since I know it will take too much time to complete the exchange or return, there have been times when I've effectively eaten the order. The case with my Ruccus surfboard was different. My lads, who are amateurs and age 18, 13, and 10, and I purchased it because we wanted something a little smaller than a longboard (our other family board). The Ruccus board was a perfect fit for all of us, completely satisfied our needs, and is something I'd suggest. However, in our instance, the rubber bumper slipped off after a few uses during some decent-sized waves, and the board's nose started separating (between the foam top and the bottom deck). Even though it was small, I was worried that it would worsen. I sent the business an email through Amazon to ask how I should approach this situation. If I was lucky, I figured they might send a bumper and the right instructions for fixing the board. In all honesty, I wasn't sure what, if anything, would happen. Anyhow, a few minutes after sending my email, I got a response from Alex, who wrote that he was sorry about whatever had happened to my board and promised to send me a brand-new one along with a surfboard cover as compensation. Incredible. I received the replacement board, cover, leash, etc. in just over a day and a half. Again, you went above and beyond my expectations, and I sincerely appreciate it. I don't often write reviews, but I felt it was important to mention this excellent customer service because I will definitely continue to purchase boards from South Bay Board Co. in the future. I would give them my greatest recommendation if they did this.

Fantastic board! Due to shipping mistakes made by Amazon when I had ordered the 6'6, I ended up with the 5'6". I'm just learning to surf, so I would definitely recommend the 6'6" and up, but I was really catching some waves in Galveston, Texas, where the surf was between 1 and 2 feet. Very challenging, but I made it through and still had a nice time! Having said that, I would adore having the 7'6" or 8' in my collection. I've made the decision to keep it rather than exchange it for the 6'6". I believe this board only works for me because I like extremely difficult challenges. But, as I said, GREAT BOARD! My surfing friends were envious of me.

This was my son's birthday present, and he couldn't wait to take it on our summer's first trip to the lake. Unfortunately, the tether strap began to unravel minutes after he used it for the first time in the water. The strap was so bad that it could not even last a few minutes of light use, but I was able to knot what was left of it to the wrist piece so he could still use it (this was at Lake Michigan on a mildly wavy day).**Edited** I contacted customer service, and they got back to me very away. Although they didn't have the item in stock, they compensated me for the cost of an Amazon order for a new tether leash. I'm satisfied that they tried their best to fix the issue, so I'm raising my rating by two stars.

Arrived with package damage and inadequate tape, but the board was still in good condition. lovely vivid blue and dark pink (not red). It's simple to insert the fins. Simply make sure that you feel resistance while screwing in the tiny screw pieces because they can easily be not screwed in and kind of near to where it should be. The provided leash is just black ribbon with a scratchy Velcro strap attached, so if you care about that, plan on obtaining a genuine leash because it will likely work given how light the board is. I did caution my daughter about it because of the reports; it might be fantastic or more of a transitory toy; it might operate well in the ocean or it might only be a floating device for the pool. Since it is essentially a boogie board in the shape of a surfboard, it lacks the support needed to keep from breaking and to maintain its shape inside the foam. No matter how it turns out, she still adores it. We will find a use for it even if it is throwaway because it is reasonably priced. After we try it out for surfing in the ocean and see how it goes, I'll update my post.She found it challenging to surf on this. It doesn't float anywhere close to as well as conventional foam boards. She is small (12 years and around 75 pounds). Adults probably wouldn't be able to surf on it, but floating around may be enjoyable. My smaller children, ages 2 and 4, enjoy using it to sit and stand on in the water and on the sand. Overall, it's still excellent given how affordable it is. But if you're really serious about learning to surf, I'd choose something that has a little bit more to offer. A fun side activity is to run and pull the rope along the wet sand while the kids are sitting on the board if you remove the fins and attach it in the central fun hole.

For the eighth birthday of my son, I purchased him this surfboard. He really adores it. For a beginner his age, the size is ideal. The surfboard is compact and, in his opinion, incredibly cool. We visited Cape May Beach over the holiday weekend to surf. We still don't know how to surf, and even my son has tried a million times without success. He still enjoys it, though, and wants to keep getting better. This surfboard appears to be relatively simple to control the body balance when waves arrive when compared to others.
