Black licorice used to make me angry. I eventually grew to like it over the years, but I never thought to buy any. My husband recently commented how much he enjoys black licorice (I think we saw some on tv). Oh, I forgot about it. Since I try to satisfy every whim of his (haha!) I looked at Amazon for licorice. This one, Panda Natural, and Wiley Wallaby Australian Gourmet Style Black Licorice were the two products I ultimately purchased.I prefer the Panda because it has a somewhat softer texture than the Wiley (without being mushy) and a flavor that is excellent but not overbearing. My husband prefers the Wiley, which is undoubtedly stronger. I don't mind the Wiley; I just enjoy the Panda more. Of course, perception of taste varies.In order for us to taste each other's bags, I ordered a larger bag of each to keep about the house.By the way, I had no idea that over time, black licorice (an anise root) might raise blood pressure. Since we both have somewhat elevated blood pressure, I will monitor this and we won't overindulge too frequently even if I'm not a doctor and haven't looked into this further. Just in case anyone else is worried about it, you should contact your doctor about it and do some research online.

It's delicious and solid and chewy, not like the tasteless "soft chewing" stuff, but you have to battle it a little. Since most people won't eat them all in a week, here is how you keep them fresh: Separate the Twizzlers into three to five Ziploc gallon-size bags (the number depends on how rapidly you consume them; I use three). Compress the bags by rolling them from the bottom up. Half-close the bag. Roll the Twizzlers inside the bag all the way to the top. Completely seal the Ziploc bag, expelling most of the air. Repackage all but one bag into the plastic container, secure the lid, and keep it in a cool location. Viola! Now that many Twizzlers are still fresh, you can enjoy them whenever you want. Enjoy!

I first gave it a shot. It was purchased at a nearby grocery store. Even at the store, I thought it was a little expensive, but I was still intrigued. I then purchased a bag. It is softer and thicker than American-Style licorice, so it took me a while to get used to it. I wasn't sure what to think at first, but after a few days, I realized how much I adored it. I went back to grab another bag, but they had stopped selling them. Despite trying around five different stores, I was unable to locate it any longer.I ordered it from Amazon for a little bit extra money.
