Lava lamps were once considered a very "cool" item to have in your home. They are still popular today, but not as much as they once were. Many people believe that lava lamps are outdated and no longer cool. However, there are still many people who think they are cool and enjoy having them in their home.
Lava lamps are not toxic. The lava in the lamps is made of wax and is not harmful to people. The lamps are safe to use and are not known to cause any health problems.
No, you cannot drink lava lamp. Lava lamps are made of a clear, viscous fluid and a colored wax inside a glass globe. The heat from a light bulb inside the lamp melts the wax, causing it to rise and fall in blobs.
Yes, you can change lava lamp water. Over time, the water in your lava lamp can become cloudy or discolored, and you may want to change it for aesthetic reasons. To do so, simply unscrew the cap of your lava lamp, pour out the old water, and replace it with fresh, distilled water.

Since he's always wanted one, I bought it for my partner as a gift for our anniversary. It was the ideal present. It was my fault for failing to check since I handed it to him in the same condition as I received the shipment because the outside package was slightly dented at the corners when it arrived. The bulb was smashed and broken all over the place when he opened the box. Although I had read the review section before making the purchase and hoped for the best that the bulb was acceptable, I wasn't overly surprised. The lava lamp does take some time to heat up and cause the liquid to completely move around, but getting a new bulb worked the trick. Overall, it's a wonderful gift, and if the wrapping had been considerably safer, it would have received a full five stars.

Okay, people. This lava lamp is amazing. I've been a fan for almost 30 years. I received the 16" model, and I couldn't be happier—the it's genuine article, not some subpar imitation or cheap fake. It's a fantastic, well-made product, and I adore it.Here, I've seen a lot of bad reviews. See below to see why so many people seem to think this lava lamp is harmful before concluding that it is.1) "The wax won't melt," I demand my money back! These people aren't allowing the lamp to heat up for long enough. It usually takes 4 to 7 hours for the wax to soften and relax on your first run. You can't just turn it off after 30 minutes and say, "Nope! "It's not working!" It does function, but you must exercise patience and give it time to work.2) "The wax has still not melted after 12 hours! I still want my money back! The problem in this case was probably caused by the bottom metal ring shifting during shipping. It is not resting flat against the lamp's base. The wax at the base of the lamp cannot be melted if that ring doesn't heat up.Allow the lamp to burn for two to three hours if the ring isn't flat on the bottom. After that, CAREFULLY turn the lamp on its side, CAREFULLY swirl the wax away from the metal ring, and CAREFULLY tilt the lamp upright. If you don't handle the hot wax carefully, you risk breaking it, and the little oozy globs won't settle for weeks.Within an hour or two after you move the ring to make it sit flat on the bottom, the wax should begin lava-ing (new word?).Three) "The liquid is hazy." Wax is, well, waxy. If you handle the lamp aggressively or during delivery, small pieces may come off. No, it isn't "broken." Just turn on the lamp for about two hours to let the wax to slightly soften, then turn it off and let it cool fully. repeat as required. This makes it easier for those tiny free globs to rise to the surface, cool, and then drift to the wax at the bottom where they will adhere and unite once more. Wax cannot actually be "broken." Once melted, it will return to its original shape on the bottom of the lamp.4) "The bulb was damaged." OK, that makes sense. Glass can shatter while being shipped. My package arrived undamaged, and the lamp was in excellent shape. The base and cap are made of plastic that has been painted silver. what? Definitely a silvery metal, mine. With a penny, the base makes a metallic sound that is unmistakably not plastic."The wax/water faded," line six. Guys, you HAVE to keep your lava lights out of the sun. Even when it is shining through windows, the sun is STRONG (and sometimes drapes). If you're lucky, your lava lamp will lose its color within a month of exposure to direct sunshine.Keep the lamp away from your windows to retain its hues, or cover it while not in use with a dark hand towel or shirt. NEVER place anything over a lamp that is on or hot while doing so! It takes at least 3 to 4 hours for it to totally cool down! Lava lamp home fires are entirely preventable by YOU!I've owned at least 40 lava lamps throughout my life, and this one is the most beautiful, colorful, and well-kept. A genuine Lava Lamp, that is. There are no regrets at all, although I do wish the cord was a few feet longer. Fortunately, a simple extension cord can easily fix that.I'm very smitten by the cool purple and blazing orange hues; they remind me so much of the West Coast sunsets I adored as a child growing up in San Diego. I paid for precisely what I wanted and I received exactly what I wanted. The cap is a touch loose and doesn't fit the lamp perfectly, which is the only minor complaint I have. But it's all right. It won't just come off on its own. It is well-fitting but doesn't "grab" the lamp's top.I would most likely purchase another one in a different color because I adore this item.Short version:- I adore the lava lamp completely. It arrived in pristine condition, including the bulb, and it works flawlessly.I took away a quarter of a star because the top cap is no longer made to fit tightly on top of the lamp.- reduced rating by half a star since the cord could use some additional length (like the old 1960s lava lamps).

According to the wife, this attractive lamp functions as a lava lamp but uses stars in place of wax. It sparkles and is quite lovely. I really enjoy it. A very similar one that would spin stars and flash colors was one I once owned, but it broke. I really like lamps like this one where motion is heated rather than motorized because it was the second spinning variety that broke on me.

Functions well, however the globe is a little blurry (paint). Overall, not too bad. I have many great LLs, and I have a lot of them. Due to the fact that the standard (this size) only accommodates a 25 watt bulb, they consume very little electricity. You do at least receive some heat from them in the winter because they throw a lot of heat. They work well as bathroom nightlights as well. I have a Grande in addition to five other sizes! Nighttime lighting is really mild, yet I can see clearly. I highly advise using a timer, which both saves time and guards the lamp from damage caused by continuous use (i.e., overheating the wax, which might damage it). Timer prices today are around $4 per unit. Smaller ones make excellent presents for friends or family who have never experienced one; they are often pleasantly surprised. I sent a pink wax one to a female acquaintance, and she enjoys it.

I've wanted to gift my 12-year-old son the blue/white Lava Lamp for years because he has always adored blue lighting. I experienced the red version as a child and remember how fantastic they were.Due to the unfavorable reviews and potential for receiving one with a deadly fault, I refrained from making the purchase. This Christmas, having exhausted all other possibilities, I made the decision to buy one and do it early so that, at the very least, I could take another chance and return it with little fuss owing to the way I've been treated as a Prime subscriber.Short version: This is the Lava Lamp that I recall. The filament on the bulb was broken when it arrived, but the holiday delivery zoo may have been to blame.Advice: If you can, order when it's cooler. Since I reside in the desert, it would seem that the "do not shake" advice apply only when the wax is soft from heat. The wax ought to resemble a firm, trapezoidal puck. I can only image that the wax would become mushy and move around if I ordered and the temperature outside was 120F, perhaps destroying the item.I wholeheartedly suggest this lava lamp if Amazon will make it right and let you return it at this price ($15?). It's amazing, thus it gets five stars. There are perfectly functional units out there, and although I have no links to any company, I just want to give someone who is uncertain, like I was for years, more confidence.

You can receive a poor one, but that can happen with any product. Mine was 100% wonderful when it arrived. Seriously, read the directions; things take at least three hours to start; the snow won't melt right away. It melts the coil by heating it with a low wattage light. You must turn this until the metal spiral ring is at the bottom if you receive it with the wax coned on top and you can see it. What the light warms up is this. The wax will eventually melt, but it will probably take three hours. It's worthwhile. I paid around $7 for the purple and blue one, which is an incredible bargain considering that they used to cost $50. Stop writing reviews when you are unable to use the product. Stop reviewing because you didn't bother to read the directions or look it up. This one works fantastically!

Lava lamps are a type of decorative lamp that uses a heat-resistant globe and a heat source to create a unique, calming light display. While lava lamps are not designed to heat up a room, they can provide a small amount of heat that may help to take the chill off of a room.
Lava lamps can help with anxiety in a number of ways. The colorful, ever-changing light can help to distract from anxious thoughts and provide a calming visual focus. The rhythmic movement of the lava can also help to soothe and relax.
Lava lamps are not very energy efficient. They use a lot of electricity to heat up the wax inside the lamp.
Lava lamps are safe to leave on for extended periods of time, however, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, the lamp may become too hot to touch after being on for several hours, so it is best to turn it off if you will be away from it for an extended period of time. Secondly, the bulb in a lava lamp will eventually burn out, so it is best to turn it off when it is not in use to prolong its life.
A lava lamp is safe to leave on for as long as you like. There is no risk of fire or other hazards.
