I originally took Biofreeze while undergoing physical therapy for a shoulder operation several years ago. Before recently, only medical offices and physical therapy facilities sold Biofreeze. After using it for the first time, I published a separate review. At first, I was upset that it wasn't the red extra strength I keep in a tiny jar, but the white balm. While my red has 10% menthol but 25% camphor, this one just has 11% of each of the active components. I remarked that, especially when contrasted to the red, this one didn't have any relaxing effect at all.However, after using it a second time, I think I may have underapplied this product the first time (after being accustomed to the smaller tins and the small, fingertip applications in the past). With the broad, wide tin making it simple to apply more the second time, I'm delighted to report that I received the full, calming, icy hot tingly sensation. I have MS, so leg pain is a given. However, when severe leg pain wakes me up, it is undoubtedly unpleasant. It saved my life! Read my entire review because it might save you! (VERY GROSS, BUT USEFUL INFORMATION) I therefore had an ingrown hair on my inner thigh last week, around March 7. I reasoned that since I had these before, it was no great problem. I frequently get them since I'm a hairy person who grooms. However, this one remained persistent. It was beginning to enlarge by last Saturday, the 10th, and because it was on my inner thigh, moving and walking became more challenging. Neosporin, which usually works, was applied, but it had no effect. Currently, it was the size of a golf ball. It appeared as though someone had put a golf ball under my skin. Nothing, not even homemade treatments, was working. It was becoming worse and starting to solidify.I read that I would need to go to the hospital to have it lanced and removed; this was only a week before my birthday, when I was participating in a St. Patrick's Day pub crawl, which involved a lot of walking. I was anticipating having to postpone my birthday this year! I came across a prid advertisement and a report of a similar occurrence while browsing the internet. They claimed that the wound opened after a few hours and all the pus and blood spilled out. Gross, I know, but keep reading. I went to Amazon to look for verified reviews because I believed the offer to be too good to be true. It was fortunately available on Prime, and I received it with 1-day shipping!When it shows up on Monday, I wash the ingrown hair—or boil, if you prefer—which has grown even larger. I put the prim to a huge piece of gauze after washing it because a conventional bandage could not cover it. I wished for success and prayed for it. After I showered that evening and reapplied Prim, I saw that it had become even larger. I was worried that it was just not working.When I was going to take a shower on Tuesday the 13th, I took off the bandage, and lo and behold, (warning gross) a volcano of puss, black blood, regular blood, and God knows what else was streaming like a geyser out of my wound. The pain had subsided, but it was still painfully awkward to walk. It was UNSTOPPABLE. Just to gather it, I had to grab some paper towels. It was dispensing like water from a faucet. Only 24 hours after taking Prid, the region was still inflamed but the boil had lessened after about an hour of drainage. Even though my leg was still hurting and it was difficult to walk, I washed and reapplied prid.The new bandage was once more covered in blood, pus, gunk, and chunks of I don't even want to guess.. but this time, I washed it, cleaned it, and was able to walk normally the following day, Wednesday, March the 14th, 48 hours later. As of this Thursday, March 15th, the boil is nearly completely gone. There is barely any extra muck left at all. Absolutely worth the effort. My week, my birthday, and perhaps an expensive doctor visit were all spared thanks to this.Although the salve is small, so far, one container seems to be sufficient. I ordered another one just in case, but I haven't had to use it yet. Yes, the salve is really thick and the fragrance isn't fantastic. To help it relax, try keeping it close to a heating pad. However, the smell is not so offensive that the outcome is not worthwhile. I wouldn't care if it smelled like death, it works! it WORKS! I was so happy that today when I applied the new bandage and saw the massive golf size ball was almost gone, I HAD to write this review. Make sure to clean the boil/area and disinfect it with rubbing alcohol, then apply the salve. Make sure to bandage it and perhaps apply a heating pad over the area to help hasten the process.Within 24 hours of using the salve, the very sore golf ball boil formed a head and erupted. Within 48 hours I could walk normally again, 36 hours later it was almost completely gone.
