Best Humidifiers in 2022

Last update: November 27, 2022

Can you use tap water in a humidifier?

Yes, you can use tap water in a humidifier, but it is not recommended. Tap water can contain minerals that can build up in the humidifier and cause it to malfunction.

Do humidifiers cause mold?

Humidifiers do not cause mold. However, they can provide the perfect environment for mold to grow if they are not maintained properly. Mold loves damp, dark, and humid environments, so it is important to keep your humidifier clean and free of mold spores.

Do humidifiers worsen air quality?

There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on a number of factors, including the type of humidifier, the quality of the water used, the level of humidity in the room, and the ventilation. However, some humidifiers can release harmful particles into the air, which can worsen air quality. It is therefore important to choose a humidifier that is appropriate for your needs and to keep it clean and well-maintained.

How close should a humidifier be when you sleep?

If you're using a humidifier to combat dry air, it's important to keep it clean and well-maintained. But it's also important to place it properly. For example, you wouldn't want to put a humidifier on your nightstand if you have small children or pets who might knock it over during the night. The ideal spot for a humidifier is about four feet away from your bed. This way, you'll get the benefits of the humidifier without being too close to the source of the moisture, which can actually make you feel damp and uncomfortable

TaoTronics Cool Mist Humidifiers for Babies [BPA Free], 1.8L Quiet and Small Ultrasonic Humidifier for Bedroom Nightstand, Space-Saving, Filterless, Auto Shut Off-(0.48 Gallon, US 110V) Review:

After using the TaoTronics Cool Mist Humidifier for a week, I have a review for you.I deliberately chose not to read the instructions since, well, it's a humidifier. How hard could it possibly be? TaoTronics didn't let me down. I unwrapped the appliance, pulled the water tank out, added 60 ounces of water, put the tank back on the base, and turned the power to full. Instantly, mist began to emerge. Then, just in case, I studied the instruction manual. I noticed three interesting things. First of all, the humidifier only uses water. Never include essential oils in it. Second, as it has a tiny air intake fan at the bottom, nothing (such as carpets) that can obstruct the intake should be placed underneath it. Third, even on the lowest settings, it produces a significant amount of mist. Avoid using it too close to computers or other heat sources, according to TaoTronics. The amount of mist that is released from the humidifier can be adjusted using a variable control knob. The fan keeps running to dry the mist tube for a few minutes after you switch the device off. Additionally, a tiny brush is included to remove the inevitable white dust buildup that occurs over time. TaoTronics advises emptying the gadget every day. Although I didn't heed that advise, I think it would be significant if you use it in a baby's room.In a 300 square foot workplace with a 12 foot ceiling, I used the humidifier. The workplace had a 72°F temperature. I turned on the humidifier at full blast the first day. For 5.5 hours, the 60 ounces of water were sufficient. When the device ran out of water, the humidity in the space rose from 47% to 53%. (and shut itself off, automatically). The humidifier was set to its lowest level on the second day. 23 consecutive hours were covered by the 60 ounces of water. When the water ran out, the humidity rose to 51% from 46% at the beginning.I operated the humidifier at half power on the third day. The humidity rose from 46% to 57% over the course of the water's 19-hour presence. This humidifier for my office is silent and efficient, in my opinion.

Homech 6L Cool Mist Humidifiers Quiet Ultrasonic Humidifier 100 Hours, Easy to Clean, for Nursery Babies Room Large bedroom Living Guitar Room 360° Nozzle ,Tank-Removal and Waterless Auto Shut-Off Review:

I chose to test out the 6L version of Homech after seeing the positive reviews for the 4L version. Its 6L size is fantastic. I don't need to refill as frequently because it retains more water. It is quite easy to use. Simply remove the tank's top portion and fill it with water. Simply adjust the knob to the mist setting of your choice. The fact that it's somewhat quiet pleases me. There was only a faint low humming mist sound. On maximum setting, the mist shoots fairly high. It contains a blue light within the machine as well as a nightlight-like light near the bottom of the device. The lights can be turned on or off.The only way this machine could possibly be improved, in my opinion, is if we could just add water from the top, rather than having to remove the top of the water tank, flip it over to fill it from the bottom, and then flip it back onto the bottom section of the machine. There is a small spillage as a result. It came with a helpful instruction booklet, a cleaning brush, a warranty card, and what appears to be an air filter. They give 60 free returns and an 18-month warranty, according to the warranty card. If anything happens to the machine during this time, that would be very fantastic. It appears that they have a U.S. office in California. The fan will continue to operate for three more minutes after you switch it off to finish drying the tube. Prior to looking at the handbook, I was unaware of that and believed my machine to be broken. It's convenient that it includes an automatic shutoff option as well as the water level drops. A superb humidifier all around! It will undoubtedly come in handy during the dry winter months.

Homech Cool Mist Humidifier, Quiet Ultrasonic Humidifier for Bedroom Home Baby 12-60 Hours, Easy to Clean, 360° Nozzle, Waterless Auto Shut-Off (4L/1.06 Gallon US 110V) Review:

I spent weeks doing research on humidifiers. Every one of them appears to leak, and finding a good one from any manufacturer seems to be hit or miss. I took a gamble because I liked the way this one looked and had heard nice things about it. I've been using it for a few weeks and it's great. can travel two nights on 3/4 of a tank. The ultra-fine spray doesn't wet down my nightstand when it is on low or medium. Simply put, the dense mist is too much. Luckily, I discovered a deep, clear tray on Amazon that I could set underneath it. The tank can be filled rather easily. Simply raise it off the ground, turn it over, take off the cap, and fill. I have to fill it with a flexible plastic cup because I can't reach it under my bathroom sink. Clean it off. Put the cap back on, then carefully flip it over. Reposition the tank on the base in a line. This weekend, I'll clean the tank using a straightforward solution of white vinegar and water before refilling it. I currently think it was an excellent investment. Worth paying more for a stylish device with an ultra-fine spray.

TaoTronics Cool Mist Humidifier, 4L Ultrasonic Humidifiers for Large Bedroom Home Baby, Quiet Operation, LED Display with Humidistat, Waterless Auto Shut-off (1.06 Gallon, US 110V) Review:

The moving, multicolored display and bluish light that illuminates the water on this humidifier give it a highly fashionable appearance. I'm not noticing any damp or wet surfaces, just a smokey, ultra-fine mist. It may help that I have set it up on a rather high perch. It is incredibly quiet, and using the digital controls is simple. It's fantastic to get up and not feel like I spent the night in a desert. I've added three shungite nuggets to the tank so that while I sleep, I'm also getting "shungisized," in addition to being moisturized. Not familiar with shungite? Visit the Cosmic Reality website to find out more, get some for yourself, and listen to all of their wonderful radio programs live and in the past. I didn't rate it because I'm simply using distilled water and haven't yet used the cleaning method. Considering that distilled water is being used, maybe that won't be a big problem.

Homasy Cool Mist Humidifiers, Quiet Ultrasonic Humidifiers for Bedroom Baby, Easy to Clean Air Humidifier, Last Up to 24 Hours, Auto Shut-Off, Anti-Slip Handle, Adjustable Mist Output Review:

I have several humidifiers, however I unintentionally left some water in one of them for an extended period of time. Unfortunately, this resulted in some mold growth at the unit's base, making access impossible.I spotted this one and decided to give it a short based on the reviews. Although it has only been a few days, so far everything seems to be going really well for us.

Everlasting Comfort Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier (6L) with Essential Oil Tray - High Output and Ultra Quiet Operation - Auto Shut Off - Night Light - Large Capacity (Black) Review:

These four are excellent humidifiers, and I have four of them. Our home's humidity levels would fall below the 10% area during periods of cold weather when both gas furnaces were frequently running, even with a whole-house humidifier on one furnace. Along with the dry, itching skin and static electricity that result from low humidity, this caused our wood floors to shrink. Due to the limited space, it is not possible to add a second built-in humidifier to the second furnace. I so initially purchased three of these to place in various places. I put a fourth one to the loft area above the great room after they elevated the humidity level in the entire house to the low 30% range while operating nonstop on high for a few days. Depending on how frequently the furnaces run, the humidity in the house now ranges from 35 to 50 percent, which is ideal. When less is required, I can simply turn down their output setting on the dial.I usually have to fill the 6 liter tanks twice a day while I'm running on high, once in the morning and once before bed. On low settings, once a day is sufficient.Near silence reigns. They make no sound of running to our ears. There are no leaks, and we can adjust them to blow away from furniture and walls using the directional instructions. My only desire is that they had a handle to help lift the tank or could be filled from the top. When the tank is full, carrying it from the sink to the unit might be awkward and difficult. Usually, I have to hug it with both arms, and as I flip it over to set on the unit, water dribbles down my shirt and onto the floor. Ideal would have been top filling. When replenishing, I have to bring a hand towel with me to clean up spills on the wood floors. The water, however, is only a result of having to turn the tank over to set it in the base; otherwise, they have never leaked. The LED-lit water level window is something I really like. When they need to be replenished, it is quite simple to observe. I haven't used the tiny oil drawers, so I can't comment.I'm quite pleased with these overall. Quality was the same for all four. The perform. When you don't have to scrape the flesh off your legs every day from the dry air because they repaired our humidity problem, life is a lot better.

LEVOIT Humidifiers for Large Room Bedroom (6L), Warm and Cool Mist Ultrasonic Air Humidifier for Home Whole House Babies Room, Customized Humidity, Remote, Germ Free and Whisper-Quiet, 2-year Warranty Review:

I must say that I adore this humidifier. This humidifier is by far our favorite out of the four that we have in our house. There are no leaks, it is sturdy, it is quiet, and the settings are simply changeable. Yet the customer support is excellent. After using this product for about 6 months, it cracked on the hard floor after slipping from my hand after I had filled it. My fault entirely. I was devastated. I made an effort to use the warranty I had bought, but I didn't get very far. Before they would assist me, they demanded images. I didn't have any photos since when I cleaned up the mess I had made, I threw the shards of broken plastic away. I gave up trying to find a replacement reservoir online and accepted that I would have to buy one. I contacted Levoit directly and requested to PURCHASE a new tank because I didn't want to discard the still-operational base. They immediately mailed me a new one at no cost without asking any questions other than for proof of purchase (a screenshot of my Amazon Invoice). Excellent business and product. The greatest issue I have is the warranty I bought.

Pure Enrichment MistAire Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier - Premium Humidifying Unit with 1.5L Water Tank, Whisper-Quiet Operation, Automatic Shut-Off and Night Light Function - Lasts Up to 16 Hours Review:

I've been waking up in the middle of the night for several weeks. My nasal passages would be so dry and clogged that I would struggle and have to force myself to get out of bed to blow my nose. The heater would dry up the air during the winter. The fan and AC now function similarly in the warmer months.I saw a small improvement in my dryness on the first night I used a humidifier, which also made it possible for me to sleep largely undisturbed. I experienced zero sleep disturbances on the third night. My nasal passages have not become congested. Additionally, I no longer frequently wake up with headaches, and my eye no longer twitches (due to my extreme sleep deprivation).I keep the unit beside my bed and replenish the reservoir twice daily. From the time I get home from work at around 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., when I fill the tank before going to bed, I run it on the highest setting. There will still be one-third of the tank's water supply there when I wake up.Setting up this humidifier was a breeze. Push the button after filling with water. No assembly is necessary. It has four settings that provide different levels of blue LED illumination and high/low volumes of "mist." The blue led light is soothing to use during a gloomy afternoon nap despite being very bright. When I get a full night's sleep, I utilize setting #4, the high mist/no light. For those who require complete darkness when they sleep, the touch control power/mode button's very intense blue illumination may be an issue. The first night, I realized it was too bright and had to move the unit. I was able to adjust the device so the blue light is no longer distracting by facing it away from me.This humidifier is great, and I hope it lasts a long time. Even though it's just been a week, I intend to keep using it indefinitely. I would buy a new one if it breaks.
