The Ikea Ektorp white slipcover sectional is located in the sunroom next to the pool area in our holiday rental. On Pinterest, I had first seen this applied to shoes. I decided to test it because I had heard that many shoe protectants really turn white shoes yellow, so I felt I would give it a shot. This was extremely effective! They are still white even after I used it on my fabric Converse and a pair of mesh running shoes. Spraying was simple, and the instructions were clear. Since I'm trying to be more careful about the chemicals I expose my family (including pets to), I was seeking for an alternative to Scotch Guard. Our first brand-new sofa and loveseat set came in a stunning seafoam green. We've had old leather furniture in the past that cleans up very easy, so I didn't want the new stuff to get stained. I've only recently used the product, so I can't speak to how it holds up, but I followed the instructions and water is now starting to bead off of it, which gives me hope for future disasters. This is crucial because we recently got a new puppy and my daughter's friends, who range in age from 6 to 10, are always coming and going from the house. For comparison, I left a small amount behind after using around 3/4 of a bottle on my new sofa and loveseat. I next performed the water test, re-spraying the fabric spray wherever water had gotten in. I have this on autoship every six months just in case, but it was JUST enough for both pieces of furniture. I should also mention that there wasn't much of a fragrance. This did not smell at all, in contrast to Scotchguard, which I am used to because it smells rather bad. Even though I continued to follow the instructions and slightly opened the house to be safe, neither my husband, who is quite sensitive to odors, nor I noticed any odours. As of now, so nice!

When two pillows could hardly be covered, I tried to save money by lightly dusting the third cushion and allowing it to air dry. When the cushions were properly treated, the water simply beaded on them, and I only needed to tilt them to see it roll off. Although I was apprehensive about this actually working, I'm glad I was wrong. I have a lot of canvas and fabric shoes, and this makes it so that water, dirt, and other things just slide right off of them without leaving any stains! While you are spraying it, it does have a powerful fragrance, however as the fabric dries, the smell goes away.

This item is fantastic. I know my mum used it for our backpacks and other things in the past, and now that I have it on our brand-new IKEA sofa, which is white, yeah, I know... However, since the covers can be removed and washed, it is actually the easiest color to have with children. However… Now that I've covered it with three cans of Scotchgard, that's no longer essential. By the time you do the cushions, sides, etc., for a standard sofa, I would say all three cans are absolutely worth the money.I've been prompted to flick water or drop other liquids on it for the past three days just to show myself that it immediately beads up and can be removed. This thing is incredibly effective. Although the original DWR coating's strength isn't fully renewed, it is nonetheless restored to 70–80% of its previous strength. DWR ages; it's merely a characteristic of the technology.The fact that the Soft Shell Proof thoroughly cleans the jacket is something I really appreciate. My 2013 Arc'teryx Hyllus Hoody accompanied me on a 9-month adventure abroad that included 750 miles of hiking. By the end, the jacket had become muddy from absorbing water. The jacket looked almost brand new after using this Nikwax, with the exception of the pilling in the pits brought on by prolonged wear of a pack (I'm debating switching to Arc'teryx to replace my jacket for this issue).Having said that, the black Plush Shell outer was smooth and clean, and the interior was lined with soft, clean fleece. It was also somewhat waterproof, albeit, as I previously mentioned, the DWR was not exactly like new. Depending on how often I wear my jacket, I now use this stuff every 4-6 months. It sheds some water in mild rain, but when it's really raining, a Hard Shell is better.I simply run the washer on the lowest water volume level, wait for the water to fill up (heat depending on the washing instructions for the jacket), and then drop the entire bottle in once the washer is full. Then I hang it to dry (some people advise drying to lock in the DWR coating, but I've never tried it out of concern that it will cause the jacket to shrink, even if it may help).
