Metal Earth: AH-64 Apache, 3D Laser Cut Model Review:

Building these Metal Earth models is exciting and difficult. I've constructed approximately 25 models so far, including this one. Building a higher skill level and having the self-assurance to recognize when the instructions aren't quite perfect are prerequisites. This set's instructions have a mistake in part numbering, however once you are familiar with the models, you can spot it more easily before attempting to make the parts fit.Take your time and don't rush any of these models, is the best advice. I keep promising myself that I will create one of these while wearing latex gloves on my hands to avoid leaving fingerprints and skin oils on the polished metal surfaces. I will eventually accomplish that.Oh! If you build this Apache model carefully and patiently, the primary rotor is free to spin, which is an added advantage! It functions, and the finished model's rotor spins very freely, allowing me to record the motion with my tablet camera. It looks awesome!

Revell 1: 48 Ah64 Apache Helicopter Review:

Overall, building this kit is a lot of fun. With any model kit, I usually anticipate spending some time during the construction process sanding and filling seams as necessary. Unfortunately, a LOT of filling was necessary for this kit, especially around the main seams where the two parts join. It's not a major deal, but be prepared to use filling putty and sand a lot if you don't want to be able to see the two halves. The kit looks fantastic after filling and sanding (it comes with some wonderful features), but I was a little let down by how much aesthetic work I had to do just to make the seams vanish.

Revell SnapTite Apache Helicopter Plastic Model Kit Review:

My husband sent this home for our 5-year-old son while he is now serving in the military. Although the recommended age range is 8 and up, he was quite happy to become a father! We got started on it together, and although only being five years old, he helped discover the pieces (since they are all numbered) and put them in the right places. Some of the pieces don't snap on properly, and one component damaged the piece that prevents the little guys from falling out. However, it was a fun little project altogether, and my son really enjoyed working on it. The gift that my husband also gave me came with a note and was beautifully wrapped in gold paper with a light blue ribbon. The note itself had light blue snowflakes on it. Even though my five-year-father old's couldn't be present in person on Christmas, it made him happy anyway.

Revell 04046 AH-64D Longbow Apache Model Kit Review:

A decent miniature kit. Since it presumably would have required about the same amount of work, I wish I had gotten a 1:72 version. Even yet, the amount of detail on this little apache is excellent. Although I believe some of the pieces were mislabeled, the directions were enough. The pieces mainly put together well, however the little guiding pins were essentially worthless. It comes in black with a faint tint of green, which surprised me because I wasn't anticipating it to be any certain color. Tweezers are strongly advised. The plastic appears to be of very ordinary quality, however due to the small scale, the small components are somewhat brittle. Overall, I like it, although I'll probably continue working at 1:72 scale.
