It does make for a more bore-friendly brush with a brass core wire and brass stem, as claimed non-marring components. I never used stainless steel brushes, and I no longer use brass brushes. I prefer to use an Otis cable to move a patched nylon brush from the chamber to the muzzle after soaking it in BoreTech bore cleaning solution. My preferred brushes are made by BoreTech, but these Tipton brushes are almost identical. The bristles are held in place by plated steel wire (they do not shed bristles), and the threaded tips are made of aluminum. Unless you are really careless while pressing these brushes into a bore, there shouldn't be any bore damage because the steel should never come into touch with the bore. When dragging the brush with a cable, it would appear to be impossible for the center piece of the twisted steel wire to make contact with the bore. When cleaning copper fouling out of the bore, the aluminum tip won't damage the bore, and (this is the major gain) there won't be any misleading blue indicator of copper. You can see phantom copper evidence from a brass brush or a brush with a brass threaded tip, so you won't be able to tell when the copper has been removed from the bore. These brushes are a wonderful deal because they last FOREVER. You shouldn't ever have to work up a sweat scrubbing a bore since a good bore cleaning solution, like BoreTech Eliminator, does the work for you, especially if you run a wet patch and clean the rest of the gun while it's working. Then, run a few more wet patches and an oil patch to finish. A lot of folks scour the bore excessively. In this scenario, little is more. More dull existence longer and more accurate.

Kit is sturdy and expertly made (unlike previous kit I recently returned). But if I had to repair or change anything about this, the case would be it. All the pieces are securely held in place by the sturdy, well-built housing. I was hunting for a kit to clean every rifle I own when I discovered this one for such a great deal. It came the following day after I placed my order. This morning I used it to clean a pistol and appreciated having a wire bore brush, jags, and mops on hand. The bore light also included a battery and had a built-in laser pointer. Gun oil and solvent, which both fit in the case with the other goods, are optional supplies. I spent money on a new cleaning kit because the one I purchased from Cabela's was completely made up of plastic jags and patch loops. With all metal components, including jags, patch loops, and even a great light to reach into the tight spaces so you can see how clean or dirty you gun it, I believe it was roughly the same amount as what I paid for this kit. I had to get some new parts for my multi-gun cleaning kit. Over the years, I've accumulated a shoebox's worth of kit components. The rod threading compatibility is the primary replacement criterion.
