Yesterday, I put this battery in my Garmin Nuvi 55LM. To open the case, I used a plastic Home Depot putty knife that cost.98 cents that I slid between the two parts. You will need a Torx 5 bit to remove the screws. You will need to remove a little piece of plastic from the area where the battery's wires exit because the new battery is bigger and more powerful than the original. I applied some needle-nose pliers. Everything is now running smoothly.

Here's why: this new battery has a longer run time despite having the same rated capacity as the original battery. Even when it was brand-new, my wife's golf GPS would not last through two rounds of golf on an 18-hole regulation course. She may now play two complete rounds on a single full charge!I'm so grateful that it included the necessary tools to open the GPS unit's cover. To get to the battery compartment, the case could be opened quite easily. Attention: This must be completed patiently and with great care. Make a note of where the wire leads are before removing the old battery. The replacement battery leads must be laid out in the same manner for the case to close.Apply a thin strip of tape to both sides of the gadget to hold the 4 operating buttons (two on each side) after removing the little Philips Screw from one side of the cover. These little buttons will be tough to reposition if you don't because they will slip out of place if you don't.Don't worry if one of the plastic tabs that snaps the casing shut breaks. Simply tape the case together with some transparent or frosted Scotch Tape. Nobody will be aware of it.I had to change the battery, which cost me $10. It cost $40 for the factory to replace the battery two years ago.Jim
