We cooked elephant garlic that we purchased at the Pike Place Market in Seattle tonight. I sort of complied with the instructions. The garlic was roasted for an hour at 350 degrees while I was baking bread. Prior to placing it in the oven, I did sprinkle it with olive oil. It was excellent. Even though elephant garlic has a milder flavor than regular garlic, the home smelt wonderful. On the freshly made bread and pizza dough, the garlic was soft and easily spreadable. I'm glad I decided to purchase this specialty baker rather than using a pyrex pot with a lid. less laundry to do. To make cleanup simple, the interior is glazed. I'd buy it once more as a gift.

This cast iron garlic roaster is an incredible beauty! The unfavorable reviews on here truly surprised me, and I thought twice before purchasing it. I'm so happy I chose to form my own opinion on it rather than listening. It worked brilliantly when I baked it at 400 degrees for 30 minutes with regular-sized garlic cloves (approximately an hour with elephant garlic). Just cut the top of the garlic off and spray some olive oil and salt on it before putting it in the oven. While camping, cooking over an open fire or a grill is also fantastic. It imparts a smokey flavor to the garlic. You need to understand how to take care of your poor cast iron garlic roaster if you're one of the folks complaining about rust. You shouldn't ever have to worry about cast iron rusting if you know how to properly care for it.

I bought it and thus far I really enjoy it. It makes the tastiest roasted garlic, which is fantastic on crackers with cream cheese and herbs or over spaghetti by itself with salt. One thing to note is that these instructions also contain those for microwave-roasted garlic, and they are not always helpful. Even though I have a very strong microwave, the preparation time was three times longer than recommended. The garlic does not have the same depth of taste in the microwave as it does in the oven, despite being soft. Additionally, this warmer provides sustained heat for tortillas.
