This spade was recommended to me by someone who had used it and loved it, despite the fact that I had never used it. I wasn't sure if the spade was inside the box when it first arrived because it was so light. It was. That day, I gave it a shot. I managed to pull a little, sick tree's full 3-foot-diameter root system out of the ground in about ten seconds without significantly disturbing the nearby flowers' roots. A 2' high thistle's foot deep tap root takes roughly 20 seconds to grow. I took around five minutes to remove clover from a flower bed that was 4' by 6'. Clover has a root system that is exceedingly twisted and challenging to remove. It took a lot longer to shake the dirt off the roots than it did to remove them. This spade will join my husband's extremely modest collection of equipment that actually performs as promised.UPDATE: Rather than purchasing this spade based on reviews, I received a personal suggestion. I made the decision to read some of the other reviews after publishing mine. Many reviews referred to this as a shovel and frequently gave it a negative rating because it did not operate in the same way. It is a spade, not a shovel. "A instrument having a sharp-edged, often rectangular, metal blade and a long handle, used for digging or cutting dirt, sand, turf, etc." is the definition of a spade. Alternatively, a shovel is described as "a tool for digging, lifting, and moving bulk materials, such as soil, coal, gravel, snow, sand, ore." When digging a hole, you should first cut through the sod and break up the earth with the spade before clearing the soil away with the shovel. A spade cannot lift the same weight as a shovel. I'm 64 years old and have never worked with shovels professionally, except occasionally for little gardening.After just a few days of practice, breaking ground on a new little plot and removing a number of huge lily bulbs left unattended for at least ten years, the shovel has proven to be a joy to use. It is reliable, cozy, and has a good weight and balance. I'm a small man at 67" and becoming shorter, so the length is perfect for me. Digging is the easiest I've ever experienced because to the pointed edge and large foot step.I planned to mark one- and two-foot lines on it so I could see exactly how far I had dug. However, after measuring the item, I discovered that the footstep was 12" above the shovel's tip whereas the decal's clear horizontal line is 24" above the tip. Although the decal might not be permanent, it feels substantial. So long as it's like this, I won't take it off and I won't mark the 2-foot line.The D-handle strikes me as being a little huge, but that's not a problem; it should fit people with bearish hands just fine.I just have one complaint, and it has nothing to do with the shovel itself, but rather with shipment. It came in a ridiculously big box with not much packaging. The shovel is strong, so it didn't really require much protection. But my god, you could have easily crammed FIVE of these shovels into that absurdly big box!This shovel will definitely outlive me, and it probably would have if I'd purchased it when I was younger. nice stuff

When I first started metal detecting for fun, I bought this as my first shovel. It didn't take me long to figure out a few requirements for that activity's shovel. You require a small, powerful gadget. This shovel is rather a big one. Large and long enough that you won't want to carry it about frequently in public. People will believe that you are trying to destroy the landscape severely, which is true if you were so inclined.For virgin, untouched ground, this shovel is not particularly sturdy. It can't be used for things like prying up boulders since it will stretch and bend on you. It wouldn't be appropriate to dig in parks or compacted dirt, but it would be acceptable in a residential yard. In the dry dirt of the summer, I bent the blade into shape before deciding that I needed to spend over $100 on a tool made for my particular activity. In an effort to lift an immovable object, I also bent that. Be strategic and pick your battles.An excellent shovel for gardening. You'll get tired of dragging it around for my benefit because I can only grow weeds because to my purple thumb. On one side of the handle of the shovel I was given, it says "LHB 10," and on the other, it says "US." LHB stands for "Light House for the Blind," and the federal government's "ability one program" was used to make my shovel. The production date is 2010. Seattle, Washington, serves as the location of the manufacturing facility. The shaft of this shovel has NSN 5120-00-878-5932 engraved on it. Ames did not make this shovel. Having said that, I believe this tri-fold shovel to be of the highest quality. I also own the Gerber entrenching tool, NSN 5120-01-476-7556. The Gerber has a tiny advantage in my opinion, but this is undoubtedly a close second.I'm glad I took the time to check into this and find out more about the Light House for the Blind since it's a wonderful organization.

I bought this Emsco rake to assist me rake mulch into my flower beds. This rake was perfect because I needed something with a smaller breadth but enough strength to complete the operation. The broad, sturdy plastic head is more than capable of spreading mulch, despite the fact that the handle is shorter than that of a full-sized rake. A substantial metal staple that has so far proven robust holds the head to a wood handle. This rake, in my opinion, would be excellent for spreading mulch, getting under shrubs, or in places where there isn't much space to move a full-sized rake. Additionally, this will be an excellent option if you're searching for a rake for a child because it's kid-sized and they'd be able to actually assist out because this is a real lawn equipment and not just some flimsy toy. I bought the 8 X 8 size, but I might have used the largest for more weight. It is quite difficult to actually obtain asphault that isn't from an asphault firm and costs a thousand dollars for very little unless you have a roller. In the 1950s and 1960s, individuals utilized antique yard rollers that were weighted with water to roll their lawns in the early spring. Even a used one is impossible to find nowadays, and I'm in West Virginia. In Pennsylvania, we have one that has existed since the 1950s. However, this would have been a huge advantage on freshly placed asphault even though what you purchase is only good for fixing minor holes. Even the oldest hardware store hadn't seen one in decades. To pack the asphault in as firmly as possible before hardening, I would advise using a 2 X 8" piece of lumbar and then running a tuck over it. I tried a different brand that comes in a metal 3 gallon tub, but I haven't opened it yet so I can't rate it yet. It is meant to be superior to the cheap merchandise available at Lowe's or Home Depot that simply falls apart. One business dominates the asphault market in this state, making it a racket. Only the extremely wealthy can afford to have their driveway installed; the price is between $7 and $8 thousand. Since I don't have that much money on hand, patching is the best option. This Tamper is the best there is.
