I chose to purchase this since it is a book and I can always do another one in the book if I become bored with one. Before I purchased them, I was interested in knowing what each of the images represented, however as of today (3/1/15), there aren't any images available to illustrate the various designs. Every three pages, the foil changes, moving from gold to silver to holographic to rainbow. The binding is remarkably sturdy.There is a holder where you can put your scratching instrument, but you should exercise caution because you might scratch something there that you don't want to, like your skin or your possessions. The pages are somewhat but not significantly thinner than the full-sized engraved image.12 "sketching pages" are included at the book's back. Don't expect to be able to create works of art on the pages because they are so thin.To protect the edges of the pages from being worn away by friction, the book's cover is exceptionally thick and extends beyond the pages.A Pro TipSince every engraving tool varies slightly from one to the next, I retain my engraving tools from each engraving work I complete (which isn't many; I complete a handful of them over the course of a year or two).The Royal Brush Foil Engraving Art Scraper Tools, 4-Pack were exactly what I needed because some of the details required a finer, sharper tool. Although the original etching tool was gone, I purchased a copper engraving picture. Because it was touted as being suitable for use by kids, I was a little hesitant to purchase this as a replacement.Finally, I decided to try this out as it was the best and most affordable choice. I found using the four tools—which each had a handle of about 6"—to be rather simple even as an adult. They offer three different line thicknesses: thin, somewhat broader, and two more wider scraping widths that I didn't use.I was able to finish my painting to my absolute pleasure. The tool performed nicely, though you might need to scrape over the line several times if you want bigger lines.In general, because copper etching pictures typically demand a lot of care and attention to detail, I wouldn't suggest them for anyone younger than maybe 9 or 10. However, with the appropriate user, these technologies can be used to produce a stunning image.

These were utilized in an adult developmentally impaired art class I taught. They frequently struggle with fine motor abilities and patience when learning new tasks, so I was a little uneasy. However, the pupils adored these and embraced the novel exercise. Even if the photo was not followed perfectly, they still came out incredibly lovely. Because I needed the foil to be about 10.5" long to foil my entire invitation with one piece, I used this when making my wedding invitations with Spellbinders foil.I've used the quill for roughly 8 hours total while making my invitations (not counting the time it was on in between as I prepped my mats, etc.) The quill cord should be a little bit longer, but other than that, I have no complaints about how well it performs thus far.I wasn't precisely sure what the breadth of the foiling would be when I bought the quill, so perhaps my photo clarifies that for other curious parties.
