Based on reviews, I chose a 6' 6" medium-fast Ugly Stick Elite to go with this reel. Sorry, skeptics! In order to use the reel first as a weightless rig for flukes and stick-baits, I loaded 10 lb test hybrid line onto it.The reel is smooth enough to reel with and has a sufficient drag range for its size, although I found it a little challenging to fine-tune the drag. I might be to blame if I missed a few bass. For my tastes, the drag appears to be on the cusp of being too tight and taught. The bail is substantial and provides a satisfying clack when thrown and returned for retrieval. It's nice that the line twist did not appear to be too difficult to control.Be aware if you have larger hands or prefer the space because the 30X size reel stalk is a touch short or tight on the rod. All is well thus far!If you're searching for a reel in the middle of the price range, I suggest this $60 reel. Time will tell how these presidents compare to the previous generations.

The Penn Battle II is a fantastic price-performance trade-off if you're sick of breaking cheap reels or having them fail when it counts.I can vouch for the Battle IIs' decent build quality because I have several of them in the 2000/4000/5000/6000/8000 model years. After a day of fishing, they should only need a freshwater rinse because they are sturdy, if a little hefty. All of my Battle II reels have excellent drag, and since it is the Penn reel with the HT-100 drag system at the lowest price, it makes a strong addition to the Penn reel lineup.Choose from the 5000-8000 series if you enjoy throwing bait and watching for powerful, drag-screaming hits. If you enjoy throwing lures, I would recommend sticking with the smaller 1000–4000 series because the weight increases significantly from 5000 and on.Although there are many better reels available for a higher price, it would be difficult to find a better reel than a Penn Battle II at the time of writing. The 4000 and 6000 are two of my favorites.If you don't fish often but still want a good reel for a little less money, check out the Penn Fierce line.Only four stars for the weight because I believe they could have reduced it slightly across the board for the intended application of these reels.My Penn 6000, which has encountered numerous sharks, rays, and other large fish, is shown in the photo attached. Due to my frequent use, it simply required a fresh water washing and an annual re-grease.

It's a fantastic reel that, in contrast to other reels, feels smooth and has a ton of power. If you do some investigation, you will usually discover positive comments about this reel. It cannot be compared at roughly $100. The confidence you need to manage larger species is given to you by the way it feels smooth, stable, and secure. I employ this for both freshwater and saltwater applications. The only challenge I encountered was getting a Shakespeare Elite 7-foot medium reel in size 4000 to fit on it. I managed to force this reel into the Shakespeare's reel seat despite the fact that its foot was a little too big for it. I use this for trout fishing and surf fishing, alternating my leader. I use a 15 lb braided line and switch from a 20 lb to a 4 lb leader when fishing for various species. Recently, I very easily extracted a 2 lb. The YouTube evaluations for this reel are somewhat misleading. You initially feel like you're getting a deal and are rather upset.I took this reel out today, and gosh, talk about backlash. At one point, I had to cut my line. It was annoying. I must have adjusted the brakes a hundred times, yet I still experienced some pretty severe backlash.To properly put up this reel, you kind of need to your crap a little, in my opinion. If you're a rookie like me, doing research might feel like a 50 dollar waste.Of course, the tension knob and magnetic break need to be adjusted, but if you don't do any study on this reel, you'll overlook the third break. You want to throw the reel into the water because you need the centripetal break because otherwise it will be all hell on you.I recall the third break after casting for probably two to two and a half hours, and at this point I was feeling fairly upset. However, I choose to make the centripetal break 3 or halfway. It resembled magic. The rest of it went as smoothly as it always had.Do I advise seeing this reel? Yes. But if you are new to baitcasting, please make sure you conduct some study first. The majority of reel and rod sets you buy at the store will be largely setup for you. That is not at all how this one arrives.

I bought two of these reels, they're amazing! This reel can cast a country mile and has a wonderfully smooth drag that is not at all harsh. It lines up exactly as you wind line onto the spool, and the fact that it is a spool ready for braiding is also excellent. I like that I only need one line to be the backer instead of two lines in the boat. Additionally, the 5.2:1 Gear ratio is the ideal ratio in every way. I also like that the reel is made entirely of graphite, making it very light and perfect for casting all day. I have a 2000 and a 3000 series; I'm now utilizing the 3000 series for drop shots, and it works fantastically! They work for Awesome for both methods when I use a senko on a flick it jig to skip docks for the 2000 series. But the reel is undoubtedly not restricted to just these methods; I also enjoy that it includes the option for reverse reeling. I also enjoy how the reel looks with the Matte Black finish and the Metallic Red, really crisp looking, for when you pull in the large hogs, you can back reel them if need be. Piscifun has gone above and beyond to provide us with an incredible product at a ridiculously low cost, and the greatest part is that it's still a high-quality reel! I'll surely have a few of these in my boat since as a tournament angler I can only have reliable gear in my boat. Everyone, from novice anglers to seasoned pros, comes highly recommended!

I purchased this in size 3000 to replace my incredibly outdated Ryobi Silver Cloud, and boy am I glad I did! Though it's not completely buttery smooth like those $200 reels, you can tell it's near. The major issue I had with my old reel was snap back, which was caused by the bail never snapping closed on heavy casts. When the drag is lifted, it clicks like a $250 Penn reel—clear but not overly loud. Within my first 10 minutes of fishing, I caught 2 large mouth bass and a shoal bass on this. A little under 8 pounds, the second large mouth fought furiously but didn't appear to bother this reel at all. I tried the KastKing brand because I was so impressed with it, and so far, I'm equally impressed with their Florocarbon range. The best part is that it doesn't appear to twist the line at all, which is a major issue with many other reels.The positive: It looks amazing! When reeling, extremely quiet. No snap-back of the bail closing. similar to other spin cast reels, doesn't appear to twist the line. Nearly as smooth as expensive products. Feels pricey!The crank handle is a touch too small for someone with large hands, which is the downside. Before viewing this brand on Amazon, I had never heard of it.I'm pretty happy with this brand overall. There is no way to beat this for the money; it feels almost as nice as a $200 reel and better than many $100 reels.**UPDATE** After a yearMy favorite reel is still. This year, I've used the Centron in freshwater over 100 times, and the Summer in saltwater over 100 times. The Centron is still entirely faultless. The Summer still functions flawlessly and has no slop, but the drag no longer clicks; however, let's look at its cost, how I've handled it, and its surroundings. Cheapest for its quality. Never, ever have I disassembled it and cleaned it. Everything in Florida is destroyed by the heat and salt air, but not this reel! Hopefully, the reel grease I recently purchased will restore the drag click. If not, I'll provide an update. Still a perfect 5!Updated once moreThe drag click on the Summer is actually broken. The tip of the little spring-loaded component that creates the drag click was broken off after being twisted. I have no idea what caused it to shatter because the piece had no rust at all. It did last for around 150 days of 12 hour Florida salt water fishing, or about a year and a half. Over 1800 hours of abuse, roughly. Very good. Just bad that the portion that failed was unaffected by rust, but it worked flawlessly on a 38-inch Snook.

I'm essentially a novice baitcaster. Years ago, I owned a baitcaster, but I never felt completely at ease using it. Most of the comments were nice when I was viewing KastKing's legend reel, with a few exceptions. I thought the commenters were idiots when I read the unfavorable posts. I get the people who get the wrong one and the people who can't figure out how to cast it. I realize that's akin to the kettle calling the pot black. I bought the Legend because of the favorable reviews. Everything arrived as promised. I watched a video that demonstrated reel setup. So I appropriately adjusted the tension knob and increased the magnet setting. I practiced outside in the backyard with some bell weights attached to the end of my line. Everything went well.I went to a tank or pond for my first fishing trip, like I normally do. I backhanded far more frequently than not. I wasn't pleased. I recalled seeing in a thread that someone had returned it because they had back-lashed each cast. Now that I too have had multiple terrible casts, I must eat crow.I resumed watching tutorial videos for bait caster setup. I watched a different video on the legend that I had located. I found that I hadn't set the magazines at all, let alone accurately. I then set the dial to maximum and switched on all the magnets. roughly the setting for beginners.When I returned to the tank/pond on my second visit, the casting was perfect. Under hand, over hand, into the wind, downwind, heavy lures, light lures, etc. I think I was now casting without any negative feedback at 95%. I only reacted violently when I did something stupid. The backlash was no longer an issue. With each cast, my confidence increased.To a buddy, I'd suggest this reel.Since I am right handed, I was using the left-handed reel.I used a 6'6" medium/heavy action rod with 12lb. mono since I wanted to practice casting it before investing in braid.I suggest watching tutorial videos on how to put it up.

Well, I discovered this reel on Amazon for $36.99, and with the 20% off coupon ($9.25) it was only $27.74! With that pricing, you really can't go wrong. The business Cadence Fishing is quite new. I own a number of their spinning reels and rods, all of which are of outstanding quality and range in price from mid to low. I recently purchased their CB6 baitcasting reel ($69.99) and was really pleased (see previous review on Amazon). This reel arrived by Prime on Saturday after I ordered it on Thursday. The reel looks fantastic in red (See photos). It weighs only 7.5 ounces and feels comfortable in the hand because it is a very lightweight reel with an aluminum crankshaft. Since the retrieve is 6.6:1, the line will be taken up rapidly. I attached a Super Zoom Fluke weightless and an EWG 4/0 hook to a Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris 7-foot casting rod after spooling it up with 15lb Seaguar Red Fluorocarbon line. Around 6:40 p.m., I went it to my neighborhood pond, and on my first cast, it severely back-lashed! When I turned the reel over, I saw that the wind drag on the left side was completely loose because I had not adjusted it. My bad. Setting that back to roughly 80%, I cast once more, and "Oh My!" This device can cast a mile with a light-weight bait on it! This, I believe, is a result of their use of superior Japanese ball bearings and SLT (Super Low Torque). Whatever it is, this reel has a longer casting range than my $250 Shimano Curado DC 150.So I catch and land a nice 2lb 6oz LMB on my third cast (see picture). I wanted to test the drag's smoothness, so I had it set rather slack. It can handle any LMB because it has 20 pounds of drag (using a carbon fiber drag system). The drag gave in smooth spurts as a result of his good pulling. I made it more secure and easily reeled her in. I kept fishing and managed to land many more fish in the same size range. The reel's one drawback, which is not really a drawback at all, is that you have to crank down on the spool tension adjustment knob more than you might think necessary to get it adjusted properly. But once it's set, it casts without any backlashes. The price-performance ratio of this reel is the one thing that I really enjoy. Even if it isn't "better" than my Curado or some of my other expensive reels, it is in their class and is a far better value for the money! Just get it if you're debating acquiring one!

This is my unvarnished opinion.So, to begin with, this reel is incredible. At first, I had my doubts, but I had heard both good and negative things about this reel. So I took a risk and purchased the torrent. I mean, the price was $40. I only have a few hundred in a single combo. I wanted a second rod and reel as a sort of all-purpose set. I also purchased a 6'6" torrent rod with it, and while it's excellent, I don't care for two-piece rods. I tried their brand of braid, which the reel was rated for, and did not care for it at all. reverted to mono mode. The reel is incredibly adaptable and smooth. Be sure to grease it. My was completely dry. The large handles are gorgeous. has a fast retrieval rate. Amazing is the 5 bearing system. I have been really pleased with this reel's handling of large bass thus far. It performed admirably despite being loaded down with some monsters throughout the weekend. It will experience a lot of flipping. I will give this my highest recommendation to anyone searching for a durable reel at a very low price. I would like to try a couple more piscifun brand products. In approximately a month, I will give this thing another evaluation. I fish from a boat around three times a week, so we'll see whether it can withstand the abuse.
