This mantle over the fireplace is gorgeous. A lovely piece of lace, really. It should be mentioned that the cloth is not as soft as I had anticipated; rather, it is very rigid. Actually, I'm not using it as a decoration. I purchased it in order to incorporate it into a Halloween costume by sewing it on a garment. The cloth is not as soft as I had wanted, but it will still serve my purpose. It is a terrific bargain and will look excellent as a decoration for any Halloween setup. I would suggest this to anyone wishing to expand their collection of Halloween decorations.

Around our gas firebox, we tore out an old brick fireplace. The mantle and surround were mounted after we had reached the drywall. The building was substantial and weighty! The mounting cleat made it simple for one person to hang the mantel.It applied paint well (we used a light primer, then rolled on a water based white paint). After mounting, we covered the wall with fresh stone veneer. We finish by applying high-temperature paint to the screens and the interior of the firebox.

This fireplace surround is of high quality. All three pieces arrived in fantastic condition and were carefully wrapped. Using the four bolts, washer, and nuts included in the packaging, the legs were simple to install to the header or mantel. The mantel weighs a much. I finally decided to paint it white. The paint lines were easily smoothed out with a roller and a paintbrush. I'm overjoyed with this buy!

A few trim pieces were plainly damaged when they were packaged. This artwork was made from around three different species of wood, none of which took stains consistently. Once I saw it in person, I almost chose to paint it instead, but we wanted a stained mantel. However, this wood is hardly stain quality, so painting it would not look well. Wood needs substantial sanding because it is generally fairly fuzzy. There was glue residue in several places that prevented stains from penetrating. I'm pleased with another pearl mantel I have that was prefinished. I'm not very thrilled with this one's overall quality.I adjusted it to four stars. Overall, it has a good construction. Simply put, I'm not overly thrilled with how the wood absorbed stain. Gel stain might have produced results that were more uniform. I wish I had some spare materials so I could try with other dyes. On flat pieces, oil-based stain appeared fairly consistently, however on trim portions, it appeared somewhat blotchy. It has a lovely appearance.
