Best Faucet Cartridges in 2022

Last update: December 25, 2022

Are all faucet cartridges the same?

No, all faucet cartridges are not the same. There are many different types and styles of faucet cartridges on the market, and each one is designed for a specific type of faucet. If you are unsure of which type of cartridge you need, it is best to consult a professional plumber or the manufacturer of your faucet.

Are hot and cold faucet cartridges different?

Yes, hot and cold faucet cartridges are different. The hot cartridge has a higher water flow rate than the cold cartridge. The cold cartridge has a lower water flow rate than the hot cartridge.

Can a bad faucet cartridge cause low water pressure?

A bad faucet cartridge can restrict water flow and cause low water pressure. If your faucet has low water pressure, check the cartridge for damage or debris that may be blocking water flow.

Can a faucet cartridge be repaired?

A faucet cartridge is a replaceable component inside a faucet that controls the flow and temperature of water. Over time, these cartridges can become worn out or damaged, and will need to be replaced. In some cases, however, it may be possible to repair the cartridge rather than replace it. This will require disassembling the faucet and assessing the damage. If the cartridge is severely damaged, it will need to be replaced. However, if the damage is minor, it may be possible to sand or file down the damaged area and then reassemble the f

MOEN 1224 Replacement Faucet Cartridge Kit Fits Most Double Handle Moen Faucets and Tub/Showers Review:

One of my Moen Eva faucets on the cold side started dripping and just became worse. I bought two of these 1224 cartridges (1 as a backup), and I wasn't let down (these are original Moen parts and matched exactly to the one I pulled out of my faucet). Unscrewing the trim from the faucet was the most difficult element of the replacement because it was so firmly secured. There are no fixed screws or pop-off tops on this particular model. In order to remove the handle from the escutcheon riser, you must unscrew the entire handle and escutcheon riser from the faucet assembly by turning them counterclockwise. The cartridge retainer nut simply screwed off to show the cartridge after I removed the handle trim escutcheon assembly. If you don't have one, you can probably get away with using pliers. I used my Moen cartridge removal tool, and it lifted right up and out with a little bit of force. I made sure the entrance was free of dirt, inserted the new cartridge until it reached the bottom, making sure the notch was positioned and set properly, and then tightened the cartridge retainer screw to secure it. Since these cartridges already have silicone lubricant, I didn't need to add extra to finish the installation. When I turned on the water, the drip stopped. Very pleased with the outcomes thus far; let's see how long it continues!

Pfister 9740420 Pressure Balanced Valve Cartridge Sub Assembly Review:

The cartridge from Price Pfister performed admirably. We didn't get hot water for very long or reliably, if at all. Unlike more traditional units, which are two pieces, this one is a single unit. Before ordering, be careful to know which unit you have by part number. Simply turn off the water main, let water drain out of the house by opening all of the faucets, and then replace. If you drop any screws when disassembling the old device, be sure to cover the drain. Just make a note of the old unit's placement to ensure you replace the new unit in the same spot. Really, it's a simple repair. By handling this yourself, you can avoid spending $175–250 on a plumber visit. Here's a tip: if the hot water in your shower isn't coming from the faucet, check the sink faucets in your kitchen and bathroom to see if they are getting hot water. If they are, the bath faucet is definitely faulty. Mineral buildup and debris obstructing the hot water flow are reasons why there isn't enough hot water. The unit can be cleaned out using a plumber's tip of soaking it in vinegar for 24 hours, but given the very inexpensive cost of this unit, it would probably be best to just replace it. The nicest part was that it arrived at my front door after only two days of waiting. If I had gone to a nearby plumbing store, I would have probably paid $30 to $40 rather than $24. Admire Amazon!

Moen 1225 One-Handle Kitchen and Bathroom Faucet Cartridge Replacement Kit, Brass Review:

My "stuck" kitchen sink faucet was completely resolved by the cartridge. I've had to replace the valve on this faucet twice in the ten years since it was first installed. Flat blade and Philips screwdrivers, an Allen wrench set, channel locks, and maybe needle nose pliers are the tools you'll need. Consider purchasing valve lubricant, rubber O-rings, a new U-clip, and a valve removal tool. These items are inexpensive and will save you from having to make a hurried trip to the hardware shop when you discover a problem. All of your needs are sold on Amazon. You may find many YouTube tutorials that will demonstrate how to make this repair. To ensure that you know the proper order of the pieces while putting the valve back together, I also advise that someone or you take images or videos of the valve removal process, piece by piece. Additionally, arrange the pieces you take apart in a line according to the sequence in which you took them apart so that you may return to that line while reassembling. It is imperative that you block the drains on your sinks in order to prevent losing components as you work.Use one of the Moen cartridge removal tools that Amazon sells if the valve is truly jammed in the faucet. Before replacing the old valve, make sure to clean the opening where it was removed. It's possible that the old valve's rubber fragments or some form of impediment were left in the hole, preventing the new valve from correctly seating. If the spigot is stuck or unsteady, you might need to replace the rubber O-ring gaskets on the faucet stem itself. When I changed my first valve, I did this. These parts are also offered by Amazon.

Delta RP50587 Single Handle Valve Cartridge Review:

I've had my Delta kitchen faucet for two years, and I was finding it harder and harder to turn the water off in a constant stream or without dips. So it was corrected. Not a challenging task. I only required a 1/8" hex bit and my reliable Channellocks. After I removed the remaining water from the faucet and replaced it, it took me about five minutes.Don't drop the cartridge, just a word of advice. I experienced it, and the grey top came off, scattering the inside components all over my kitchen floor. Fortunately, I was able to put everything back together, and it now functions normally. However, prevention is always preferable to treatment.Since I believe Delta could and should do better, I have given this four stars. I am not delighted about paying a premium price for a high-end faucet with a major component that only lasted two years, as other reviewers have mentioned. The longer this continues, the better. I also think the pricing is too high considering what you actually receive after seeing the inside parts, which are basically plastic elements (although Amazon had the lowest price I could find). Although it isn't enough to get me to replace the faucet just yet, this would cause me to reconsider using Delta goods in the future.

Razor Spark Replacement Cartridge Review:

These are incredible! Both of my boys, ages 5 and 8, have razor scooters. They were devastated when they ran out of sparks. Amazon saves the day! They wanted to have movie night so they could open the package and test out the sparkles when we got home late one night. Absolutely no disappointment. Sparks were large and bright, and they enjoyed a fantastic summer night of riding.

Pfister 974-0740 25mm Cartridge Sub Assembly Review:

This is just what I needed for my Ashfield line, model 5297YP, kitchen faucet, which is roughly ten years old. The cartridge is listed as part number 974-074 in the parts breakdown, and this is unquestionably the right replacement (even though this new part has an extra 0 at the end). Take notice of the color change from being all white to being black with a white bottom (as shown). My problem was that the faucet handle occasionally slowly descended and turned on the water (at least a trickle). Therefore, I required a new cartridge to resolve the "loose" handle issue. The old cartridge is shown in the image on the left, and the new one is shown on the right.Changing this was quite simple. Make sure the water is turned off first. Finding the proper size allen wrench (hex wrench) to remove the handle is the most difficult step, but it is rather simple (just put the wrench in the small hole on the handle and unscrew the screw attaching the handle to the end of the cartridge). When the handle was removed, I manually unscrewed a cosmetic cap to reveal the locking mechanism (top left round portion in the photograph) (brass, shown in the photo on the far right). That is taken out using a sizable set of pliers (just grip it "head on" on the two flat surfaces and unscrew it using pliers or pair of vice grips). The old cartridge is simply pulled out and replaced with the new one when the locking mechanism has been unscrewed. On mine, I DID need to remove the old seal using a screwdriver (now a light blue on the new part, was red on the original part, again, see photo bottom left for the old red gasket that I had to gently scrape out of the internal workings of the faucet). The procedure for assembly is simply the opposite of disassembly: insert the new cartridge (which has two nipples to force the correct alignment), screw in the brass locking mechanism and tighten it (but not too tightly or you risk damaging the cartridge), screw on the outer cosmetic piece by hand, replace the handle, tighten the screw holding the handle to the cartridge with the hex wrench, and you're finished! In conclusion, I'm really content! I appreciate you reading.

Kohler 1068204 Cartridge Assembly Review:

Since nothing appeared to be broken and the tub only didn't retain water, I purchased a replacement Cartridge Assembly in part to try to determine what was wrong with my first Cartridge Assembly. I quickly compared the components of the new and old assembly and concluded that the white hexagonal piece needed to be fully screwed into the white cylindrical piece's body. The brass screw's threads are exposed to their full extent in this manner. (Avoid overtorquing.) On the left, the proper configuration is shown; on the right, the erroneous one.In addition, the metal cap's lip should not be covered by the rubber gasket; rather, the gasket should be positioned around the white cylindrical piece's threaded portion. This implies that the gasket is placed in between the two parts. The drain's brass screw should be tightened until it bottoms out and feels secure. Avoid overtightening. My old cartridge assembly is once again functional. The new one will serve as a backup.

DuPont WFPFC8002 Universal Whole House Carbon Wrap 2-Phase Cartridge, 2-Pack Review:

fantastic filter There was no obvious sediment in my water, only a rather unpleasant flavor. I thus purchased a ten-inch housing and a carbon filter, which made the water drinkable right away. We obtain all of our drinking water from the refrigerator, therefore this particular filter just services that appliance. I'll report back on the flavor when it has been in use for a few months. This one $7 filter has already accomplished more than the fridge's $30 filter ever did.22 October 2017 - I used one carbon filter for almost five months. My wife and I use the refrigerator for all of our drinking water and ice, even though the filter was just being utilized for the waterline feeding the refrigerator. My setup consists of of this filter and the tiny five-stage filter found in the majority of contemporary refrigerators. This was plenty to remove the unpleasant taste from my city's water supply. This is a great answer for my needs, and I'm extremely pleased with how well these filters work.

Delta RP46074 Universal Valve Cartridge Assembly- Multi-Choice Universal - 13 / 14 Series, White Review:

as an OEM replacement, fits well. The tale below is LONG. No time for the lengthy explanation? In a nutshell, you can increase the flow by using a 5/32 drill bit to clear the housing ports and mixer cylinder, provided that the clogged or blocked piping that is the source of the low flow problem is not present. In addition, I used a can of WD40 and an air compressor with a little rubber tip. By allowing WD40 to soak and then blowing air into and through the lines, it took some time and a lot of repetition to completely remove all the rust and debris from the lines.I don't have a plumbing license. I have a lot of expertise with these problems because I am a manager that is very hands-on and does practically all of his own job. I've successfully handled several repairs on my own. Having stated that...My house had copper pipes that needed to be unclogged, which took a strong air compressor, a blow gun with a little rubber tip, a can of WD40, and a lot of patience. The LONG STORY SHORT: Our bathroom had a retrofit where new shower/tub valves were installed (2 valves, 1 shower and 1 tub/shower combo). Adapters were inserted to put copper piping where the galvanized pipes were. The shower/tub combination is the one where I frequently had poor flow or low pressure. Years passed with both of them operating without a hitch before the copper tubing began to become clogged by the aging galvanized pipes.About three years after the bathroom remodel, we decided to utilize the house as a rental after we had moved out. The pressure regulator that our tenant added restricted pressure as intended, resulting in a low flow/low pressure problem, which allowed the newly added copper pipes to start accumulating bits and pieces of rusted pipe at the fittings and smaller bends and areas where they narrow into the Delta valve housing, etc. Our tenant made a "improvement" (literally, added a pressure regulator without the owners consent

RP32104 Cartridge Assembly Replacement For Delta Monitor 1700 series cartridge (1998-2005) Review:

It currently functions flawlessly with no leaks or problems. This replacement cartridge is excellent. For ease of installation, I gave it five stars because I found it to be simple. However, if DIY jobs, plumbing, or other such tasks are unfamiliar to you, you might want to seek assistance. You must have a general understanding of how to use it because there are no instructions included. If not, YouTube probably has videos that could be helpful as it seems like they have videos for everything. Before you install the cartridge, make sure to replace the springs, cups, and seals inside the housing; otherwise, your time will be wasted.
