Are evaporative coolers any good?

Evaporative coolers are a great way to keep your home cool during the summer months. They work by using the evaporation of water to cool the air, and they are much more energy-efficient than air conditioners.

Can evaporative cooling be left on all night?

Yes, evaporative cooling can be left on all night. In fact, it is often recommended to leave evaporative coolers on all night to ensure that the air in your home is constantly being refreshed.

Do evaporative coolers actually cool a room?

Evaporative coolers, also called swamp coolers, use the natural process of evaporation to cool and humidify the air. A fan draws warm, dry air through moistened pads, where it is cooled by evaporation and then circulated into the room. The pads must be kept moist in order for the evaporative cooler to work properly. As the water evaporates, it also humidifies the air, so these units are not suitable for use in very humid climates. Swamp coolers are less expensive to operate than conventional air conditioners, and

Do evaporative coolers cause mold?

Evaporative coolers, also known as swamp coolers, are a type of air conditioning that work by evaporating water. As the water evaporates, it cools the air around it. Swamp coolers are a cheaper and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional air conditioners, but they can cause mold if they are not maintained properly. Mold can grow in the water reservoir of an evaporative cooler, as well as in the ductwork. If the cooler is not drained and cleaned regularly, mold can build up and cause health problems for people with allergies or respiratory conditions

Be1 2019 New Mini Personal Air Conditioner Fan, Evaporative Air Cooler for Desktop Cooling, USB Table Fan with 3 Speed Settings, Ultra Quiet Mini Humidifier with 550ml Capacity for Home, Office Review:

I bought this for my desk at work since I always need a fan blowing cool air because I get hot all the time, even in the winter. Additionally, since there are so many electronics inside, it heats up rather quickly. This is cute and compact and stays put. You can choose whichever of its three fan speeds is most comfortable for you. The fan continuously blows mist to keep you cool. Additionally, there is an LED light at the bottom that will alert you when the water level is low so you can top it off. It's fantastic that this machine seems like it will serve me for a very long time.

KKCITE Portable Space Heater 950W,Ceramic Personal Space Heater,Multifunctional Rotatable Fan Warmer with 3 Modes For Home Office Review:

The hot air speed is really quick, and the appearance is little and lovely. You have the option of shaking or not shaking your head. The noise is not loud. It is excellent for the office or the house!

XIDIAOYE Portable Air Conditioner Fan, 3 in 1 Air Cooler | Humidifier | Purifier, 3 Fan Speed Combined Dual Detachable Water Tank, 7 Colors LED Lights, USB Charging for Home Kitchen Office Dorm Review:

I purchased another As Seen on TV item, but it disintegrated after two days. returned that and used the additional funds to buy this one. Even with the AC on, my home office in an upstairs spare bedroom gets hotter than hell in the summer. I bought this in an effort to possibly chill things down a bit. I place the reservoir near my desk, add some ice, and fill it with water. It helps that the air is colder. It won't air condition a room, but if you point it at you, it will work. As a bonus, I consider the fact that I can see a fine mist of moisture in the air when I enter and exit the room because my skin is always dry. I only occasionally activate the mood lighting feature because I keep forgetting about it, but it provides wonderful ambient light. Overall, I'm pleased. The only issue I could possibly have is that the flap you open to pour water in doesn't open very widely, which causes me to frequently spill some.

Active Aqua AACH100HP Hydroponic Water Chiller Cooling System, 1 HP, Rated per hour:10,050 BTU, User-Friendly Review:

The device itself is superb. Although the box was marked "heavy," there were no "this side up" or "fragile" markings to be found anywhere on the outside. The front cover was loose when it arrived, and collars around the bottom of In and Out needed to be adjusted. When I first operated the machine for 12 hours and returned from work, the temperature had not altered in the slightest. An item that resembles a huge capacitor on a plate was loose and out of place when the front cover, which had initially become loose, was fully removed. After plugging in a 2 pin connector that was hidden under this plate and capacitor, the device worked perfectly once again. In my perspective, the vendor needs to take two actions going forward. 1. Because it was on its side on my front porch when I got home from work, I decided to sticker the sent units with the warnings "this side up" and "fragile" on the outside of the Amazon boxes. It was handled roughly enough during shipping to be moved, forcing the front panel open and disconnecting a portion of the compressor's function. I'm still giving the product five stars because it's fantastic once it's been mended from delivery.

OPOLAR Portable Air Conditioner Fan, Evaporative Air Cooler, USB Power Oscillating Tower Fan, 55°Oscillating, Personal Space Humidifier Misting Desk Fan, 3 Speed for Outdoor Camping Home Office Dorm Review:

My office is often very warm and muggy, and it stays that way all day. I bought this for my office to cool the scorching environment. The air is kept cold and fresh thanks to this fan, which operates well. I just need to top it off with water to make it last for days, and the size fits perfectly on my desk. The fan runs quietly, has good power, and can be used for extended periods of time. I'm happy I invested wisely in an Oplolar Cooling air conditioner.

Hessaire Products MC18M Mobile Evaporative Cooler, 1,300 Cfm, Gray Review:

Although I didn't purchase this through Amazon, I choose to do so since it hasn't received a review on this site. Since 1995, I've had four swamp coolers, and this is by far the best. To be really honest, I've only had it for one day.The previous unit was an Arctic Cove 350. It needed to be replaced because it started to leak after a year of use, started sucking air via its flow control valve about the same time, and died after three seasons.I used the Arctic Cove 500 and 700 versions at work and once considered upgrading, but I won't ever use that brand again. It has a 1300cfm Hessaire (the above mentioned Arctic Cove model numbers correspond to their cfm output). If it disappoints me, I will lower my rating, but at the moment: This swamp cooler is the real stuff, no BS. There shouldn't be a problem because the fan is placed far enough away from the filter media, and there's no need to turn off the machine and remove the reservoir to replenish it. The drawback is that it will require a little more care, but if you don't know that, you don't know swamp coolers, so you'd better either educate yourself or just avoid the entire genre. The drain cap seems like a surefire future source of failure (leakage), and the control switch seems REALLY cheap and weak, which are my two main concerns. Time will tell in such case.It was so difficult to force in two of the wheel casters that I was concerned I would break the whole thing. However, if you live in a royal hotbox like I do and don't enjoy spending hundreds of dollars a month on AC electricity, this device (again, after just one day of ownership but with years of swamp cooler expertise) seems to be a winner.EDIT 7/26/2018: This is functioning. I've drained it twice (not out of necessity, but to check), and so far there have been no problems with the drain cap as I had feared. The best swamp cooler I have so far owned. On the high level, it DOES use a lot of water, but the low setting is still superior to anything else I've owned and lasts for 8 hours. My only complaint at this stage is that it takes a lot of effort to seal the "door" for reloading water. I'll have to take extra care to keep the "latch" intact. Additionally, I wish there was a timer mode for the shutdown-related 30-minute "airing out" of the filter media. However, if this item is still functional in the summer of 2019, I will unquestionably raise my rating to five stars.

Scinex Personal Air Cooler, Personal Air Conditioner for Office Desk, Small Portable AC Air Conditioner, Mini Air Conditioner Room Cooler with Built-In LED Night Light Review:

Fantastic AC! It's becoming warmer now, and when my workplace is busy, it can get really heated. I purchased this in the hopes that it would live up to its claims, and it did. I filled it up with some ice cold water from the office cooler and placed it approximately 5 feet away from my face. It lasts maybe half the day on full blast, but it actually cools down my entire workspace. All of my coworkers are searching for one, so I suggested this brand.

Portable Air Conditioner Fan, 3 in 1 Personal Space Air Cooler, Humidifier, Purifier, Desktop Cooling Fan Table Fan with Dual Detachable Water Tank, 7 Colors LED Lights for Home Kitchen Office Dorm Review:

This is what we received because the summer has been unbearably hot. So, this is my assessment: if you work in a tiny office, it's excellent. And by that, I mean you need to be able to keep it near by. Does it feel cool? It is, indeed. but ONLY for little rooms. Although it does blow chilly air, it is unquestionably not an air conditioner because it lacks the power of a full air conditioner. It takes some time for the cold air to blow through the two flasks on either side, but it does blow cold air because we used REALLY cold water.Simply bring a power bank and attach it to the power bank, is how I would recommend using this portable air conditioner. Since it is a USB cord, power banks won't have any issues with it. Then let it run with VERY cold water. On a table, where it blows the chilly air directly in your direction, it would be ideal. However, don't count on it to chill down a whole room! It is really little and maybe only has enough room to chill you off in front of you. If you connected it to a power bank, you could probably bring this to a picnic because setup was so simple. There won't be a strong breeze, just a beautiful, soft breeze from the fan. The lights weren't really my thing, but I suppose they'd make a beautiful night light if you wanted! We managed to sort it out, so I gave this one more star! First, ice water, if you can. That is a big assistance. Second, use it to produce a cross breeze! It will circulate better if a fan can be angled in the direction that the cold air pushes. Even yet, I would not advise using it to cool down a room because, despite its small size, it lacks the power to do so. But if you're at a picnic or in an office cubicle, it might undoubtedly help you cool off!

Ontel Arctic Personal Air Cooler, White Review:

Evaporative cooling is not understood by those who gave it one star. They anticipate a tiny air conditioner that blows cold air. It's not like that at all. It significantly outperforms a standard fan. Depending on the weather, the water in the filter evaporates and reduces the air's temperature by several degrees. There won't be much cooling if there is a high level of humidity since less water will evaporate. More water can evaporate when the air is dry, which can produce amazing cooling. Since my yacht has a solar panel system, I am constantly seeking for low-power summer cooling solutions. I read extensively about evaporative cooling because I have some scientific training. Actually, it was the Pharoahs' air conditioning system! In an ideal situation, an evaporative cooler would bring the air temperature to that of a "wet bulb." You can download an app to your phone that uses the temperature and the relative humidity percentage to determine the current temperature based on the weather report. According to the article I read, the majority of evaporative coolers have an efficiency of 85% or more, which means that your cooler will largely reach that wet bulb temperature. In humid conditions, it may just be 6 degrees cooler; in dry conditions, it may be nearly 20 degrees cooler. I bought five, two for the bow and three for the stern of my yacht. They work well and consume very little electricity. I can power them with batteries and my quite sizable solar array. In case I need to, I can keep them running continuously. These guys are entertaining, but an actual air conditioner is still superior. When it's 100 degrees outside in August in Texas, it's difficult to keep up with the sun. Normally, it would quickly transform a closed cabin into an oven. Although I couldn't argue that these people keep it cool throughout the sweltering summer, they can at least keep it comfortably heated. You don't perspire much, and you don't have to feel awful for very long if you stay inside. In my car, I used two of them. You can actually sit there and read or do whatever else without burning up if you park under a tree in the shade and then raise the windshield visor. It's a lot of fun! They perform their best work at night. It would typically be around 80 degrees in the cabin, and I have often tossed and turned at night since it's unpleasant to attempt to sleep when you're too hot. For as long as I've had a boat, it's been a reality for me. These people can shed that final 10 degrees, which is pretty good. It feels like you're at the beach with the nice, pleasant breeze. You start seeking for a blanket around 3 AM to keep warm! I particularly enjoy preparing cocktails while the LED mood lights are on and listening to some island music. It's a wonderful time! Close your eyes, and the Caribbean is right there! These men also perform a terrific job inside the house in that room that is about 10 degrees too hot! You are prepared to travel because your air conditioner has already removed a significant amount of the moisture from the air. I often use them at home to induce a calm, balmy slumber, and I quickly pass off. Additionally, I may leave for the ocean as soon as I turn out the lights!

Do evaporative coolers work better with cold water?

Do evaporative coolers work in 100 degree weather?

Yes, evaporative coolers can work in 100 degree weather, but they are not as effective as they are in lower temperatures. The cooler air produced by the evaporative process will help to offset the heat, but it will not be as strong of a cooling effect as it would be in lower temperatures.

Do you need to open windows for evaporative cooling?

In short, the answer is yes - you need to open windows when using evaporative cooling. By doing so, you allow hot, dry air to enter the unit and be cooled by evaporation. This process of cooling air by evaporation is much more effective when the air is hot and dry to start with.

Does an evaporative cooler need to be vented?

Evaporative coolers, also called swamp coolers, are a type of air conditioner that work by evaporating water. They are a popular choice in dry, arid climates because they are energy efficient and can lower indoor temperatures by up to 30 degrees. Most evaporative coolers need to be vented to the outdoors in order to work properly. The venting helps to get rid of the hot, humid air that the cooler produces. Otherwise, the air will get trapped inside and the cooler will not work as well. If you live in an area
