This starter set is excellent. My mother forced my brothers and I to attempt cross-stitching when we were little, and I've always had good memories of it. I wanted to attempt it again on my own terms now that I'm an adult.This kit is quite durable. It has hoops in a number of sizes, ranging from "regular small-ish" to "very freakin' large," (4 or 5? The hoops appear to be of a high caliber (easy to loosen to add fabric, but solid and unmoving when the fabric is seated).There are a LOT of needles in it. It also comes with a variety of tools for threading needles, which is really useful. There are also some simple guidelines. There are also 50 different colored threads and a sizable supply of AIDA cloth. Additionally, it comes with a few (not 50) high-quality plastic floss holders.There are only two minor issues I have:1) There are no labels identifying the colors of the threads. Although it may not seem like a big concern, it might be challenging to know which color to use when there are three different shades of orange and eight different shades of red and you're attempting to stick to a pattern that specifies those shades.2) Gray colors are scarce to nonexistent. The project I chose to begin with required around six various grays (honestly, if I had only had one or two, I could have faked it/adapted), but this kit provided exactly zero of them. Or perhaps one, but it had a tint that was nearly purplish-gray. Thankfully, there is a Joann's about a mile from my house, and the colors I required there were just $.56 each. (Wal-mart also offers a variety of colors, reportedly for $.43, but given that Joann's offers a much wider assortment of colors, the 13 cents saved weren't worth it.)Overall, I would suggest this item and won't repurchase it (since I won't need to)!

For someone just getting started with embroidery, this package is ideal. The thread colors are EXTREMELY similar to DMC colors, but at a much lower price. Nice full selection, no unpleasant colors or duplicates. Although a serious craftsman might be able to detect more variances, I found the quality to be almost equal to DMC. The hoops are of good quality, and the diversity of projects is made possible by the sizes. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to start with all the basics and quickly establish a color collection!

For someone like me who was interested in trying out a new pastime, this embroidery beginning kit was excellent. The kit had everything I needed, and the instructions were simple enough to follow. The intended outcome was achieved in that the final result matched the images completely.The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the cloth had a blue ink outline of the design, which was useful during the embroidery process but remained visible after I was done. The instructions stated that the blue ink would fade if you soaked the finished fabric in water, but when I first attempted it, it only caused the blue ink to run and bleed. To remove the blue ink from the fabric, numerous rounds of soaking and dabbing were necessary. Nevertheless, I was still quite pleased with my purchase considering the cost and aesthetics.

Excellent overall and excellent for the price! I think I did a fairly excellent job considering that I have never embroided a thing in my life. They provide you with all of the thread in all of the required colors, cut into 18-inch sections for convenience. Everything went smoothly, and the combination of the floss colors is stunning. They give you extra so there is room for errors—I made a few—and it's presented such it won't become tangled up or confused. You only need a needle threader in addition to this kit! Particularly for a project like this, they are quite affordable and worthwhile. I'm done now! Since the thread was already cut to size, I hardly even needed to use scissors. Get it! You won't be sorry! For the holidays, I'm getting another one for a relative. I had a lot of fun.

Edit: After washing the cloth, I've discovered that it is now much softer, but it is still too stiff for my purposes. It obviously works best for cross-stitch-style projects.everything it was intended to include, plus two doubles of some of the red floss, arrived. Hopefully nobody else was shorted. There are many vibrant colors but also a nice choice of neutrals in the soft floss. There are only six shades of purple, so I'll need to buy more.The fabric is the only thing I have to complain about. It feels like it might shred floss since it is so hard and abrasive. I'll wash it to determine if the starching was simply too much. Fabric is still simple and reasonably priced to obtain even if that is not the case. However, I took away a star because it does suggest that I need to do more before starting any tasks.Others may have had trouble removing the blue protective material, but I had no trouble doing it.

I was looking for a washable medium to use for embroidering patterns into fabric. The majority of what I came across was transfer paper, which produced stains that were difficult to remove, necessitating my extra caution when using it to apply a design. This pen will save your life! It can be a little difficult to read the faint blue writing on darker fabrics (though I don't believe that was its intended use), but it's fantastic everywhere else. Additionally, if I make a mistake when tracing the design, the ink easily wipes away using a moist towel. I can draw broad and precise lines with the pen, and it functions well. If you enjoy "going off book" with your needlework work, I strongly recommend this.

Even though I'm just a quarter of the way through it, I've been enjoying it so far. To truly understand how to use it, I advise viewing the YouTube tutorial. Apart than that, this is a very lovely image. So far, nothing has been missing and I have all the materials I require. Definitely, I'd suggest this one!New as of 3/19: I'm done, and I think it came out really well. When I used a roller to go over it, a few diamonds came out. I had a ton of extra drills, as have been mentioned by other reviewers. I had a ton of the primary black hue, but only a few of the pinks. Really, it varies. This was my first painting of a diamond, and it was the ideal size. Not too big, but yet not too little.
