We received the Trustech Fireplace Heater Model SFP202E in top shape. The outside packing was a typical Amazon corrugated cardboard box. Heavy duty corrugated cardboard with reinforced edges and corners and encasing solid styrofoam made up the manufacturer's packaging inside of it. There were no flaws in the sheet metal or its finish. Four feet were simply attached with three screws each, which was all that was needed for assembly. The switches for the control panel are inside the door. Magnets are used to close the door firmly, which is an excellent idea for this device. The heater immediately increased the temperature in the space I required to stay warm, and the thermostat is properly functioning. Although not particularly quiet, the blower design is effective and powerful for its size. The heat feature was the major reason I bought it. However, the device looks excellent as a little wood stove. The electric flame light may be adjusted for brightness and has the appearance of a wood fire. When turning on the appliance for the first time, the instructions recommend running it at full power until any odor from heating newly coated metal has subsided. Two hours in a room with good ventilation was advised in the pamphlet. I ran mine outside of my house, and it was finished in thirty minutes. Compared to conventional electric heaters of a comparable wattage, this device is superior. Additionally, it will be safer and simpler to maintain.

ADVANCED 2/2/18This is a brief update. This heater has been in my possession for about 5 months now. Our house was completely frozen because it was the first winter without central heating. In the bedroom where my 3-year-old son and I slept, I used this heater. Even on the coldest evenings, it kept us quite warm at night (lowest at night was 9 degrees F). I want to add that using space heaters to zone heat will increase your electric cost to what I just said. My energy bill totaled $280 for the entire month that it was bitterly cold, but it would typically be under $200 with central heating (both gas and electric). In 2 bedrooms, the living room, and the bathroom, I did use 4 space heaters (this one, a Lasko, a radiator heater, as well as a modest 1500 watt utility heater). We are still experiencing cold weather, so I've learned to shut off unused spaces and cover windows in rooms without doors (such the hallway that leads to the living room and the kitchen door that leads to the den), which keeps the warm air within while preventing drafts. In order to keep the rooms we are in warmer during the chilly days and nights, we have tremendously benefited from blocking off areas of the house that we are not using. Since day one, this heater has performed admirably, and I anticipate that it will survive for many more winters. It is among my greatest heaters, and I would purchase from this company again.Let me first briefly explain my motivations for wanting this heater for my house.Our home is ancient (approximately 75 years old), with no carpet, hardwood or cement flooring, antique storm windows, and three inside doors heading outside. I had the house "weatherized" last year, and this year I have installed thermal curtains in every window, added medium-sized area rugs to most rooms, and covered one of the exterior doors with plastic. Winters in this area are cold, with lows in the 20s on snowy nights and highs in the 30s to 50s in December, January, and the first few days of February. For us, those are the coldest months. Normally, we would heat the entire house with a 22-year-old Central Heat/Air unit that sits on top of the house, but recently, it has started to malfunction. When the unit quit operating, the last plumber/electrician I contacted out was reluctant to touch it because he described it as a "electrical nightmare" (a handyman of the previous house owner spliced wires and connected them in unsafe ways to repair the unit and now it has become dangerous for electricians and plumbers to repair). The unit has once again left this year. I want to avoid spending $300 on another plumber to come out and "fix" the unit so that it will hopefully function throughout the entire winter (last year the plumber said it was iffy if the unit would last the entire winter).The challenge for me this winter is keeping my ancient house warm without using the central heating system. My goal is to employ Zone Heating and place space heaters in the rooms we use the most to keep our monthly costs within the average $170 range for my gas and electric bills during the coldest months.I have done much research on zone heating, which is claimed to warm homes without the use of any other central heating units. However, I am unable to comment on the cost because this is my first winter without central heating.I chose this heater because I have a 3-year-old and cats that are interested about everything in the house, so I didn't want either of them to get burned. On my 13' x 8' side porch, I recently put in two sets of glass patio doors and then framed the rest in. This room is not heated or air-conditioned. I considered installing a gas log set, but I decided to test out an electric heat stove first. My justifications are twofold. Firstly, the cost. Second, even on their lowest setting, gas logs would generate too much heat for this tiny space. I reasoned that I wouldn't lose much money if the electric stove didn't function and that I could switch to a gas stove instead. Even though the flames are not quite realistic, they still look good. Good news thus far, In a year, I'll update if I can remember to. The most crucial thing to understand is that this is not a luxury item created from genuine salvaged wood. It is made of particle board and has a laminated texture on the surface. We were aware of this prior to making the purchase, and now that we have it, I can say that it appears to be real from a distance and looks great in our living room as a whole. Contrary to most particle board furniture, this piece is substantial and feels heavy.The photographs on Amazon seem to be fairly accurate in terms of color. It has a deeper, cooler brown color. Be sure to measure your room because it turned out to be a little bigger than we anticipated based on the photographs. Still, not too bad.It's difficult to put together, according to some evaluations, but I'm not sure I agree. Although there are a lot of pieces and you need carefully follow the instructions, my wife and I didn't find it to be too difficult. It took us roughly 2.5 hours to complete. With the exception of the occasional smack to get things to sit in position, all the pieces did fit together. It's little more challenging than the typical IKEA component, in my opinion.The hardware works fine, however I did break one of the cam screws (I should have used a screwdriver instead of a drill), which is bad because no spare hardware is offered. It had no impact on the outcome, which is once more quite strong.Overall, given the price, we're extremely happy with our purchase and this looks excellent in our living room.
