Ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide whether or not an electric blanket is a good option for them.

Do electric blankets draw a lot of electricity?

Electric blankets do not draw a lot of electricity. In fact, they are one of the most energy-efficient ways to heat your bed. Electric blankets use less than 1/3 of the electricity of a space heater and can save you money on your energy bill.

MaxKare Polar Fleece Electric Heated Blanket Twin Size 62'' x 84'' Full Body Warming Premium Microfiber Sofa Blankets with Auto-Off 4 Temperature Settings Overheating Protection 10h Timer - Gray Review:

The blanket is fluffy and silky. Although it is lightweight, the warmth it provides is exactly right. Despite the fact that it turns off on its own after a few hours, I wish there was a timer. There are a few different heat levels so you may choose the one that suits you most, but even the maximum setting is scorching. It doesn't seem hot at first, but after a while, the combination of your body heat plus the heat from the blanket makes it feel really hot, and you'll probably switch it off because the blanket will feel comfortable enough. I'll use this frequently because it's ideal for the winter.

BesDio Electric Heated Blanket Throw, ETL Certified Fast-Heating for Full Body, 10 Temperature Settings with Auto Off, 200GSM Soft Flannel, Machine Washable, 50" x 60" Review:

I've had this blanket for a few days, and I must say that heated blankets are far more pleasant now than they were 25 years ago. The blanket is almost as comfy as a typical microfiber blanket and the heating element is much less obvious. The only problems I personally have are the location of the outlet and remote for my particular setup, which can be easily fixed with an extension cord, and the fact that I am 6'2" and cannot cover my chest if I want to put my feet up, but these are not major difficulties. Quickly warms up and is ideal for the fall and winter. Considering the competition, the price is reasonable. An excellent product overall.

MaxKare Electric Blanket Throw Oversized 62" x 84" Twin Flannel Fast Heating Blanket, ETL Certification with 3 Heating Levels & 8 Hours Auto Off Full Body Warm, Machine Washable Review:

On December 21st, I placed this transaction as a birthday present for myself. Since the day I received it, it has been on my bed. I have been using it every day since it arrived since I adore it. It heated up quickly and evenly compared to other products I've bought. On February 28, 2019, however, the controller ceased functioning. I double-checked every connection because I didn't think it was getting power. Everything is in functioning order, but it still won't turn on, and it is so chilly outside today that I really need it to.Since it is a month after Amazon's return deadline, I've already gotten in touch with MaxKare's customer service. I'll update this page when I hear back from them.New information:Customer service at MaxKare got in touch with me, and my blanket is already being replaced. They responded to requests quite quickly. The new blanket is here and performs admirably. The level of customer service provided by the organization is excellent.

Beautyrest Ultra Soft Sherpa Berber Fleece Electric Poncho Wrap Blanket Heated Throw with Auto Shutoff, 50" W x 64" L, Lavender Review:

I can't get enough of this blanket. absolutely smitten It's a dream come true for someone who is always cold to have this blanket! I can stay warm and comfortable while working at the computer for hours on end because it is SO soft and extremely warm even on the medium setting. My previous heating blankets/wraps were difficult to use since I had to constantly figure out how to wrap them around my body and arms and because the heating was uneven or insufficient. I was laboriously battling ridiculously easy chores, just like those poor individuals in infomercials. Thank goodness those days are behind us. My torso and arms are covered in this baby's embraces, which seem like they were given by a dozen fluffy puppies. Although I would have chosen the blue/green color instead, I'm looking for an excuse to have one of these blankets in every area in my house, so perhaps I'll treat myself. I would say that the pink hue is more orange/salmon than the photographs represent, and if I had known this, I would have bought it. And you ought to. You won't be sorry.

Sunbeam Throw Blanket | Fleece, 3 Heat Settings, Assorted - THF8QA-R001-31A00 Review:

I enjoy how quickly it heats up! Due to his hypothyroidism, my 5-year-old son gets cold at night, so we start the bed's heating on "high" to make it ready for him before turning it to "low" until it turns off on its own. My five-year-old son sleeps in a twin bed. For a bed/blanket size comparison, see the image. Every Sunbeam blanket has a "softness grade," so I strongly advise determining which one you require or like before making a purchase. The heated throw we purchased for my 5-year-old is classified as "extra soft" in terms of softness. This demonstrates how stiff the blanket is. But it works out for us. The blanket's stiffness makes it difficult to bunch up, which leads to hot areas where your child is sleeping. Between his comforter and sleeping sheet, we placed his heated blanket. The Microplush "premium soft" heated blanket is my top pick if you're searching for an excellent heated blanket to cuddle up with on your own. The blanket is so fluffy that you'll fall in love with it right away! For comparison, see my photos of my Microplush walnut heated blanket and my son's mushroom heated blanket. the two Sunbeam goods. My only issue with Sunbeam is that after six months of regular use, my blanket loses its ability to provide heat.

Sunbeam Heated Throw Blanket | Reversible Sherpa/Royal Mink, 3 Heat Settings, Garnet - TRT8WR-R310-25A00 Review:

The only reason this only received four stars instead of five is because I find the wires connecting to the controller to be stiff and ugly. Although there are wires inside the blanket, as indicated in some other reviews I've read, I don't think this is a problem. When utilizing the blanket, the wires in the blanket are essentially invisible and can only be felt by actively touching for them.Despite the fact that the materials aren't precisely Merino wool or anything spectacular, the blanket itself has a pleasant, fluffy feel. It is soft and has a fantastic tactile feel on both sides, and it feels like it will wear well. All three times I used this product, the fluffy side was "down," and each time it performed incredibly nicely. First, use it as a blanket to cover yourself while seated, fluffy side up. Warm before turning it on...comfortable! Then, place it on the sofa (our sofa is made of fabric), turn it up to the highest setting, and simply sit on it. It will feel pleasant but not nearly as warm as using it to curl up under in your car. Last but not least, approximately a half hour before going to bed, I've been placing it on high in the space between the covers and the comforter on the bed. This time of year, our bedroom is more than a little cool, and I only have one word to describe it: AMAZING! However, it's too warm to leave this on while sleeping, so soon I get in, I just turn it off.Getting into a warm bed is pure heaven.Ships with a sticker that is unpleasant to the touch and unattractive. With some effort, I eliminated the our; I probably shouldn't have, but it looks much better without it.I'm very delighted I made this purchase!ASSIGNMENT: 1/3/2018 - I liked this product so much that I bought my mother one as well. She claims to use it every day and loves it.

Sunbeam King Size Electric Blanket Mushroom Color Review:

I haven't used an electric blanket in a very long time; instead, I've been using a heated mattress pad. I recently purchased a Purple mattress, and since I am unable to use the heated mattress pad, I have been forced to switch back to an electric blanket. After reading reviews on numerous blankets, I became concerned about the weight and feel of the wires. I wanted a lighter weight blanket to use in addition to the blanket already on the bed so that this winter when it gets really cold I can turn on the heat and be warm and comfortable. I wanted a blanket that would be usable in the early and late parts of the season when I need the heated feature occasionally. I am aware that the lighter, thinner blankets will make it easier for you to sense the cables. Yes, you can feel the wires on this blanket, but unlike the heated mattress pad, you are not sleeping on top of it, so once I had it on the bed, I discovered that this was actually not a problem. I have no idea why people object to cables. I have it positioned as the top layer per the instructions. I've put the sheets, my other blanket, this blanket, and finally the bedspread on the bed. So far, it's been fantastic both as an electric blanket on cold nights when I don't need the heat and as a blanket when I need. The pre-heat feature is fantastic. Sometimes you just don't need a lot of heat, therefore I enjoy the low settings. I adore the very soft orange light on the control. My mattress pad had a vivid red color that was simply too much in the pitch-black bedroom at night; occasionally, I would cover it with a cloth since it seemed like a night light, and I detest lights in rooms at night. However, this is barely perceptible. While I have one just above my head in a window and am completely unaware of its presence, I imagine if you had it exactly at eye level alongside you, it might be. I have a flannel fleece blanket for my other blanket, and nothing compares to that one, but this one is soft enough that I have no complaints. As with all electric beds, the controllers' cords have kinks from the way they are packaged and need to be straightened out. To make them lay more attractively along the floor, I simply straightened and softened them with my hands. The cords are considerably longer than the ones on my previous mattress pad. Although I have no idea how long this will endure, it seems from reading reports that none of these things last longer than a few seasons. I was astonished to learn that my previous mattress pad was five years old.

SoftHeat by Perfect Fit | Luxury Fleece Electric Heated Blanket with Safe & Warm Low-Voltage Technology (Twin, Beige) Review:

I've had three low voltage electric blankets in the past for various beds, and I'm sold on the technology. I won't go into all the specifics since if you weren't already aware of the advantages and disadvantages, you wouldn't be here looking at them. To what you already know, I only want to share a few personal insights. One is that some places, for whatever reason, believe that these products ought to be extremely expensive. Since the technique is straightforward, a low voltage blanket shouldn't be more expensive than a standard one. Strangely, the tan color I selected from this brand cost far less than any other color or brand, yet the same item in several other colors cost over three times as much. If color isn't a big deal for you like it is for me, shop carefully because the blanket will always be covered under a bedspread. This one differs from other others in that it features a rotary control dial. I prefer that since it is easier to use, especially in low light, has a larger temperature range, and there are fewer potential problems. Regular electric blanket rotary controls would not make me feel the same way because some of them turn on and off with a loud clicking sound, but this one is completely silent. I believe that rather than turning on and off, it maintains a steady temperature. Speaking of sounds, some people have reported that certain blankets emit a high-pitched sound. I don't believe that is typical, and I haven't experienced it with any low voltage blanket I've purchased before, either.Regarding being a fire hazard, the truth is that anything that uses electricity has a 100% chance of doing so. They sell millions of these items, and the odd one that does have a problem might, theoretically, be the result of a myriad of factors, including abuse or misuse by users. There are over 3000 consumers who have complained about this particular model, and there are only a small number who may have used it improperly or found a fault. I once owned a car that caught fire in the engine, but I would never claim that I'll never own a Ford again because they can burn. To put it another way, I wouldn't stress over it.If you've never really used one, you might initially believe that a low voltage blanket doesn't get as warm as an ordinary electric blanket. That's just partially accurate; the majority of conventional electric blankets heat up, turn off, cool off, then heat up once more. A low-voltage blanket increases the temperature there by just enough to get you warm and keep you there. Same findings with different technology. In terms of actual practical application, I turned it on at position 5 the first night, which was really chilly, and it was toasty—too warm, in fact, for me. I finally chose position 2 as my preferred sleeping temperature. It's just untrue that low voltage blankets don't get warm; in fact, I think I could fry an egg on one if I pushed the temperature up to 10.The difference between sleeping under a blanket covered in thick wires and a large electrical junction box at your feet, as well as the worry that electrical energy waves will enter your body, and not feeling any wires, not kicking a heavy plug all night, and knowing that only low voltage is being used, is like night and day. Be aware that this blanket's plug-in portion is tiny and situated right at the edge, far enough away that you won't ever feel it.

Sunbeam Heated Blanket | Microplush, 10 Heat Settings, Garnet, Twin - BSM9KTS-R310-16A00 Review:

In the past 12 years, we have purchased a number of electric blankets, but THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING (AND CHEAP) ONE! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS MATTRESS! Don't be fooled by the "Lifetime Guarantee"; we still had to BUY new controllers every year because ONE of the two ceased to work (very reliable malfunction!). In the end, we threw this complete waste of money away. The last electric blanket we purchased was from Hammacher Schlemmer (extremely EXPENSIVE!). I found what I believe to be the exact same blanket on sale here on Amazon.com. It's fantastic THIS SUNBEAM MICRO PLUSH HEATED BLANKET! My spouse and I both adore this excellent blanket because it is lightweight, trustworthy, and warms up quickly and comfortably. After the Hammacher Schlemmer fiasco, we were hesitant to buy anything, but we were in dire need of a trustworthy electric blanket because we reside in the interior Pacific Northwest, where the winters are extremely long, chilly, and snowy. I carefully researched every review for nearly every electric blanket being sold on Amazon.com before deciding that this was the best option. It most definitely turned out to be a 5 star decision. Purchase with assurance.
