If you enjoy cooking, then a Dutch oven is definitely worth the investment. They are great for making soups, stews, casseroles, and even desserts. Dutch ovens are also very versatile, as they can be used on the stovetop, in the oven, or even over a campfire.
A Dutch oven can go on the stove, but it should not be placed on an open flame. The oven should be placed on a stove top burner that is set to medium heat.

I bought this primarily because I loved the pricing point and since it was created (or at least purportedly made) by Lodge. I've seen comparable products from other sellers that provide additional features for about the same price point, so I'm confident I'll ultimately purchase one of the others to add to my kit. To be fair, it performs what it is intended to do and is a high-quality product made by a high-quality business. If I don't allow the rust reach it, I think it will last a very long time. If I had the option to choose again, I probably would have chosen the lid lifter provided by Cabela's because it appeared to have a few more features than this straightforward product.

Such a great dutch oven! I've only had it for slightly more than 3 years. It will endure forever if you take good care of it. People who claim that it is rusting, for example, need to do extensive research on how to take care of cast iron! Always immediately dry completely and lightly oil before putting away. Even though it is supposed to be pre-seasoned, I would season it with some crisco in the oven before using it because I don't think there is enough flavor. Compared to old cast iron, lodge has a rougher surface, thus seasoning it beforehand only improves it.I primarily use it to create bread with my kitchen aid's dough or no-knead bread. creates bread with an excellent crust. The moisture is captured by the top pan. Use it to make stews or deep-fry dishes as well. I appreciate that the top can be used as a pan, which I frequently do to cook up tiny sides or meals. The one exception is that because to the amount of steam that escapes, you must exercise extreme caution if using it as a cover. Lift it slowly and away from you while wearing gloves. It is a little bit more difficult to use because it lacks a handle, but I prefer the versatility of using the top as a pan in either case (there is a version with a handle if you prefer).

With a few drawbacks, this combines some of the benefits of a nonstick pan with some of the benefits of a traditional, hefty cast-iron pan.AdvantagesIt's not quite as nonstick as pans marketed as nonstick, but it's close enough and superior to most cast iron in that regard, particularly at the sides where seasoning does not typically develop as well as it does for cast-iron pans. simplifies cooking and cleanup. And neither curing nor seasoning! It can cook food just as evenly as a conventional cast-iron pan of the same weight. The pan's weight dictates how much heat energy it can store. When you place something on part of a heavier one like this, it won't cool down as quickly and will continue to transmit heat uniformly throughout the cooking process.stronger than nonstick frying pans. There are no dangerous compounds in the surface coating. Your canary won't be harmed if the pan unexpectedly overheats.Although the lid color doesn't exactly match the pan color, as can be seen in the Amazon photographs for the blue 7.5-quart size, this looks better than conventional cast iron and is a good hue. Looks superior to nonstick pans I've seen, though perhaps those aren't the best ones. This one includes the small ridges on the inside of the lid that are designed to distribute condensed steam back down for basting more evenly and, presumably, to reduce the amount of condensation that reaches the edge of the lid where it would come out.DisadvantagesNot quite as nonstick as genuine nonstick pans, as previously indicated. The dishwasher can clean the majority of modern nonstick cookware, but not this one.Although the weight is a benefit for some elements of cooking, it is a drawback for transferring it. This has the additional drawback of taking longer to heat up than lighter pans, which is a disadvantage for quick heating.not as resilient to misuse as cast iron. The use of metal utensils is not advised. This can chip the porcelain if you bang it with enough force. For everyday use, regular cast iron is practically unbreakable.that which you do not pay forAlthough a Le Creuset pan is much more expensive, it also offers more. In the oven, it can reach a temperature of 500 °F as opposed to 400 °F for this. Even with the Le Creuset, high stovetop heat isn't advised because it can get a little hotter there as well. Although they still advise using the same ones with this one, you can use metal utensils with the Le Creuset with caution. In addition, the Le Creuset has a lifetime warranty as opposed to this one year. All things considered, this is a pretty beautiful pan that can be used for the majority of things that a Le Creuset can be used for successfully.Other issuesThe measurements provided by Amazon are precise. The 7.5-quart capacity measures just less than 14-1/2" across at the handles, 12" across the rest, and roughly 7-1/2" high with the lid on. It weighs little more than 16 pounds. (The slightly more compact Le Creuset weighs roughly 1-3/4 pounds less.)Where the lid and pan connect, there is exposed metal. That is expected because the ceramic wouldn't endure there. appears to be not rusting.produced in China.

I'm quite happy with the 7 quart pot that I bought. The handles keep cool, the heating surface is level, and the construction is solid. In the four months that I've had it, I've used it every day, and it's delivered outstanding performance. It is what I've used to boil, sear, braise, sauté, etc. For those who don't know, this surface isn't non-stick, making it ideal for browning meats and veggies and making a fond.It is made of stainless steel 18/10, the same grade as that used by All-Clad. This indicates that it has the same level of corrosion resistance as your regular $200 version. Of course, stainless steel reacts to acids and salt to a small degree, so it is not immune. I take care of my pan as a result by:- refraining from storing cooked items in it because they often include salt and/or acid- cleaning it right away after usage and drying it (never putting cold water on a hot pan, which can cause warping)- if I'm going to cook something with salt or acid for a long time, I should use a different pot (I use a crock pot for slow cooking)- using a non-scratch pad to clean it (and baking soda, if I need to remove burned food)To be clear, this pot is not built similarly to an All-Clad pot. The base AND walls of the pan are made of numerous metal "sandwiched" layers by All-Clad. On the bottom of this, there is a single aluminum disc encased in stainless steel. Glass covers the lid, while the sides are made of one layer of stainless steel. As a result, you won't have the same level of uniform heat retention from all angles that you would in a pot that costs a lot more money. Having said that, I think this will be a terrific buy at this price and will be useful to the majority of people!

This Dutch oven is really well made, very reasonably priced, and a great bargain. Regarding my decision to purchase this item and my interactions with Amazon customer service, I have the following observations to make:- I originally bought this locally, but I returned it to the retailer after comparing prices on Amazon, ordering it here at a significant discount.- I looked at online evaluations of the several dutch oven goods that are available, and this Lodge model consistently has the highest or extremely high ratings compared to others. For instance, a thorough review of dutch ovens can be found at wirecutter.com, where they come to the conclusion that this Lodge model is the best. Additionally, they adore the Le Creuset Signature Enameled Cast-Iron 5-1/2-Quart Round French (Dutch) Oven and the Cuisinart CI670-30CR Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 7-Quart Round Covered Casserole. If I ever have the money to invest $300 or so on a dutch oven, I will definitely stock our kitchen with it and other Le Creuset goods (and I will be sure to get at least one in their orange Flame color, which is the original color before they began to offer a full palette of choices). Although I am certain that the Le Creuset items are excellent, I believe that this Lodge product will work just as well in the interim. The 6-quart size that I bought is perfect for our purposes; it is big and hefty and has huge, practical handles in a gorgeous blue colour.Let me now describe my experience making this Amazon purchase. The interior enamel finish of the first Lodge dutch oven I purchased from Amazon had a very minor flaw. I decided to get in touch with Amazon customer support to see if an exchange could be arranged since I was aware that other reviewers here have complained about enamel that was either damaged or defective. I wanted to start with a dutch oven that was as defect-free as possible so that I wouldn't have to worry about its durability in the long run. Without any hesitation, Amazon kindly agreed to provide a replacement. When I have purchased something from Amazon and there has been a problem with it, I have repeatedly received that excellent customer care (which is infrequent).By the way, the product was sent both times in its original factory packing, which is made of thick cardboard and provides the dutch oven with good protection. One of the other reviewers mentioned asking for more packaging, but I don't think it is essential. It would take some pretty major handling errors for the pot to be damaged while it is protected as it is packaged, and upon receiving the item, it would be clear if that had happened even before opening the box to check the pot.If there are any noteworthy points—positive or negative—to add in the future, I'll update this.

Having said that, the lodge 12 "We all know how this stuff gets better with usage, so use your C.I. skillet and your 5-quart dutch oven! I now do everything in this 7 qt dutch oven. I actually do all of my stovetop cooking in this. Anything goes in this and the oven, including roasts, poultry, hog, etc. I appreciate the high sides since they offer you enough of area while using it in the oven and keep the splatter mess to a minimum on the stove top. Now that I had a smaller family of three, I gave the 9 qt a very close look, but I didn't think I required it. The handles are nice, however I'm not sure how I would feel about the bail wire setup on the 9 qt. People have complained that the 9 qt is very heavy, which may make it difficult to rinse and wash it in the sink. I prefer to wipe mine off with a crisco towel and then simply reheat it on the burner until it begins to smoke a little before turning it off to cool. I reseason in this manner. The larger 9 qt container might more difficult to transport from sink to stove than this 7 qt size. Additionally, I wanted to remark Lodge 12 "This 7 qt. fits the tempered glass cover like a champ. It is essential! SKU:GC12 I nevertheless sold the 12 "skillet as well. Now, this Lodge 7qt is my preferred cooking vessel and I use it frequently. I hope my review is helpful to people.

My first time using aluminum frying pans. My rice is cooked to perfection. I'm thrilled with the assortment of sizes in this collection. They are lightweight and simple to clean, which I like when using/filling the largest size. After accidentally holding the hot handles the first time, I did buy a set of Lodge silicone handle sleeves (for cast iron pans).

Here are some things you should be aware of before embarking on a cast iron trip.1. Because cast iron is brittle by nature, it can all crack and break. You may think of it as strong stoneware.2. For all of your cast iron cookware needs, Amazonbasics will get you there pretty much.3. Rinse with hot water before using, then quickly dry. After that, start seasoning your cast iron.4. I use canola oil, vegetable shortening, or both. Recognize your smoking points. Vegetable shortening is 350–370, for instance. Your oven should be set to 450 degrees. After coating cookware with a thin layer of shortening, bake for 1 hour with the pots upside down on the racks. As a result, the pots and pans develop a thin layer of baked (polymer? oil).5. Cast iron is a poor conductor of heat but is good at maintaining the heat due to its higher thermal mass, so when you cook with it, start low and allow it time to heat up.6. Add the cooking grease and distribute it evenly with a silicone spatula (so you dont scrape off your seasoning - if you do, no worries, just reseason).7. Prepare your food.8. Remove any stuck-on food and empty your pot (you should have very less if you follow all the steps). Then rinse, dry, and clean the pot with a paper towel.9. Add oil or shortening and heat a pan on the stovetop until it reaches the smoking stage, about 3 minutes. Put the saucepan away from water sources for storage after turning off the stove. One last thing: I purchased things from both AmazonBasics and Lodge, and I must tell that I am quite impressed with Amazon's packaging. I received both items on the same day, Lodge in its original box, which was damaged during delivery, and AmazonBasics, which was larger, heavier, and undamaged. Have fun, what are you waiting for at this price?I simply loved the goods and service from Amazon and started writing without receiving any compensation for the review.

This pot must be handled with care because it is special. The pot started out a little unclean, but when I gave it a good cleaning and covered it with olive oil, it functioned just perfectly. It has cooked beautiful rice and different stews. You would assume that due of the material, food would get stuck or burn, but it doesn't. quickly warms up and performs best on low to medium heat. I wash it with a standard sponge most of the time, but after a few usage when it starts to look black, I wash it with Brillo pads and it comes out shiny once again.
A Dutch oven is a type of cooking pot that is typically made from cast iron. It has a heavy lid that is tight fitting, which makes it ideal for slow cooking and braising. Dutch ovens can be used for a variety of different recipes, including stews, casseroles, soups, and more.
Yes, you can use a Dutch oven on a glass top stove. Dutch ovens are made of heavy-duty materials that can withstand high heat, so they are ideal for cooking on a glass top stove. When using a Dutch oven on a glass top stove, be sure to use a stovetop protector or a heat diffuser to prevent the bottom of the pot from coming into direct contact with the glass.
There's no definitive answer to this question, as some people swear by cast iron Dutch ovens while others find that other materials work just as well. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and what you're looking to get out of your Dutch oven. If you're looking for even heat distribution and excellent heat retention, then cast iron is a good option. However, if you're worried about the weight of a cast iron Dutch oven or the potential for it to rust, then you might want to consider another material.
A Dutch oven is a type of cooking pot that is typically made from cast iron. It has a heavy bottom and sides, and a tight-fitting lid. Dutch ovens are often used for braising, browning, and baking. Some people believe that food cooks faster in a Dutch oven because the pot is so heavy and conducts heat well. However, there is no scientific evidence to support this claim. In fact, it is likely that the cooking time is similar to that of other pots and pans.
Yes, Le Creuset is a Dutch oven. It is a heavy pot with a tight-fitting lid that is used for cooking and baking.
