Best Drum Sets in 2022

Last update: December 13, 2022

Are drums harder than guitar?

In my opinion, drums are harder than guitar. I think this because when you are playing the drums, you have to use your whole body and keep track of four different limbs. With guitar, you only have to use two hands. Also, drums require a lot of coordination and timing, which can be difficult to learn.

Are Yamaha drums good?

Yes, Yamaha drums are good. They are some of the best drums on the market. Yamaha makes high quality drums that sound great and are built to last. If you are looking for a good set of drums, Yamaha is a great choice.

Can drumming build muscle?

Yes, drumming can build muscle. When you drum, you are using muscles in your arms, shoulders, and legs. These muscles work together to create the drumming motion. The more you drum, the more you use these muscles, and the stronger they become.

Can drums be self taught?

Yes, drums can be self-taught. However, it is important to note that drums are a very physical instrument, so it is recommended that you take some lessons from a professional drummer or instructor to ensure that you are using proper technique. If you are serious about learning drums, you should also consider joining a band or taking group lessons.

Gammon 5-Piece Junior Starter Drum Kit with Cymbals, Hardware, Sticks, & Throne - Black Review:

My son was getting close to turning six. He may be seen playing the school drum set in a video posted to Facebook by his grandmother. After seeing that, I knew I had to gift him a drum set for his birthday. I acquired this 5-piece Gammon Set in shiny blue while browsing Amazon. It was ideal and reasonably priced. I was astounded when the drum set showed here in just three days! The assembly of the set required a lot of time and work. Because I have trouble following directions, all I had to rely on were the pieces and the photographs. It succeeded. In two days of part-time tinkering, I had it set up. The set had a decent appearance, seemed reliable, and had good sound. I'll need to find someone who is knowledgeable in drums to fine-tune the sounds. The set seems solid and well-made. Only time will tell. My son was overjoyed when he first saw it and began playing (read: beating) it. He said three times that night, "This is the nicest present ever." His enormous sense of excitement made the price of the drums more than worthwhile. We need to start taking drum lessons. It was the gift I ever received that was most gratefully received. Believe me!Kevin Peterson

Mendini by Cecilio 13 inch 3-Piece Kids/Junior Drum Set with Throne, Cymbal, Pedal & Drumsticks, Metallic Blue, MJDS-1-BL Review:

I looked into kids drum sets that were around $70-$100 for a long time before making this purchase. I want to mention a few things while I'm joyful. I had some doubts after reading reviews of this drum kit because of a few problems or warning signs. I nevertheless went ahead and bought it, and I was pleasantly delighted to see that Cecilio had obviously fixed some of the persistent problems. I'm not sure if these apply to all sets, however my worries have been allayed by:A loud squeaking chain-driven bass drum pedal was mentioned in a number of responses. The use of a spring/tether mechanism appears to have corrected this. No more squeaksNo Instructions Included - I saw a number of reports stating that you had to download a PDF from the manufacturer's website in order to get any instructions with the item. My package included instructions, and they were rather nice. Additionally, assembling is not too difficult. The base drum (shell, membrane, and rims) are built; the rest is essentially finished.- Subpar or faulty hardware - I did not experience this. Although the alloy was not quite NASCAR level, the hardware appeared to be of a standard quality, and I had no trouble tightening anything. The end. I promise I'm not being paid by Cecilio, but I figured it could be useful to let you know that, at least in the case of the unit I received, these difficulties have been addressed if you were shopping and encountered the same worries.

Mendini by Cecilio 16 inch 5-Piece Complete Kids / Junior Drum Set with Adjustable Throne, Cymbal, Pedal & Drumsticks, Metallic Blue, MJDS-5-BL Review:

The drums came in good condition and set up was very easy. I've read through all the reviews, and I feel like I should point out a few things that people said negatively about these drums. . .1. They are not a "high end drum set," however, they are AWESOME for a kid! My 4 year old and 6 year old love them! The quality is much nicer than a "toy." This is a great starter drum set for kids.2. I also read in some of the negative reviews that the instructions were difficult or non-existant. While the instructions were brief, the kit went together very easily. Once you start putting it together, you get the gist of how to do it all. The instructions do not say anything about tuning the drum set, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube to help you do that. So, the only negatives are that they are not "High End" and that the assembly instructions were not that great. Both of those were very minor. The quality of this drum set is still excellent, and the assembly was still very easy. I would budget 90 minutes for assembly. It took me about 20-30 minutes just to unbox everything and lay it all out. After that, assembly was easy-peasy!So far, my kids love them. If you are looking for an entry level drum set, BUY THESE!

Mendini by Cecilio 16 inch 5-Piece Complete Kids / Junior Drum Set with Adjustable Throne, Cymbal, Pedal & Drumsticks, Metallic Black, MJDS-5-BK Review:

The drums arrived in fantastic shape, and setup was simple. After reading all the reviews, I feel compelled to mention a few things that people stated were unfavorable about these drums.1. Despite not being a "high end drum set," they are AMAZING for a kid! My children ages 4 and 6 adore them! Compared to a "toy," the quality is far nicer. This is a fantastic drum set for kids to start with.2. I noticed that some of the poor reviews mentioned how difficult or nonexistent the instructions were. Although the instructions were minimal, assembling the kit was relatively simple. The general idea of how to do anything becomes clear once you begin putting things together. There are many YouTube tutorials that can guide you in tuning the drum set even though the instructions make no mention of it.Therefore, the main drawbacks are that they are not "High End" and that the assembly instructions could be better. They were both quite insignificant. This drum set is still of high quality, and it was very simple to assemble. For assembly, I would allocate 90 minutes. Just to unbox everything and lay it all out took me 20 to 30 minutes. Assembly was simple after that.My kids adore them so far. Buy these if you want a drum set for beginners!

Mendini by Cecilio 13 inch 3-Piece Kids/Junior Drum Set with Throne, Cymbal, Pedal & Drumsticks, Metallic Bright Red, MJDS-1-BR Review:

This was a Christmas present that my husband and I got for our 3-year-old grandson. (Any problems my daughter may have caused as a teenager have been more than made up for.*) We ordered the drum equipment to be supplied immediately because we reside in different states. This evaluation is therefore based on the information and video that our daughter and SIL gave.It took approximately an hour to put together, provided no difficulties, and wasn't even a very focused hour, according to my SIL. Although Buddy Rich wouldn't be impressed by the kit (of course, there isn't much wowing him in his current state), it is durable, appealing, the right size, and a fantastic place to start for a young drummer.*Actually, said daughter and SIL gave us their entire support; in fact, at our request, they chose it and given us the URL. They appear to be content with their decision.

Ashthorpe 5-Piece Complete Kid's Junior Drum Set with Genuine Brass Cymbals - Children's Advanced Beginner Kit with 16" Bass, Adjustable Throne, Cymbals, Hi-Hats, Pedals & Drumsticks - Blue Review:

This was a birthday gift for my 7-year-old. will surely continue to support him. My 4.5-year-old could fit it just as easily. Will require a blanket for the kick drum, however this is unimportant because most people use them otherwise. Superb sound. Amazing, exactly as seen in the picture! Absolutely worth purchasing!

Gammon Percussion Full Size Complete Adult 5 Piece Drum Set with Cymbals Stands Stool and Sticks, Black Review:

No nonsense:1. It's complete, as advertised and not hard to set up.2. The cymbals sound bad, especially the crash. But they do what they are supposed to do.3. The bass drum pedal doesn't have great rebound/tension to it, but it's adjustable and useable.4. The heads are crappy but do their job—for how long, we'l see.5. The rims are cheap/light aluminum and the bass will go out-of-round pretty quickly. As long as you're not breaking down and setting up, this is probably irrelevant—just let it go.6. The black laminate covering on one of my toms has an obvious seam that looks like it wants to peel up.7. Get some nice hickory sticks—the ones that come it seem like some kind of softwood.8. The conclusion on these observations should be that, at $250-$275, there's nothing not to like here!! A professional drummer friend of mine came over recently to do my re-setup and gave it the seal of approval. Nothing you can't learn on this set that won't transfer to something nicer if the need or desire arises!

How many drums do you need?

To play the drums, you need at least two drums: a snare drum and a bass drum. You can play other drums, such as a tom-tom or a floor tom, but you don't need them to play the drums.

How much is a good set of drums?

Is a 5-piece drum set enough?

A five-piece drum set is the most popular configuration of drums for a beginner. It is also the minimum number of drums that a drummer needs to have a complete set-up. A five-piece set usually includes a bass drum, a snare drum, two tom-toms, and a floor tom. Sometimes a fifth tom-tom is added, but this is not essential. A five-piece set is enough to play most styles of music.

Is drumming a good workout?

Drumming is not only a great workout for your arms, but it also gets your heart rate up and can help improve your coordination.

Is drums hard to learn?

No, drums are not hard to learn. In fact, they are one of the easiest instruments to learn.

Should I use 5A or 5B drumsticks?

There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on personal preference. Some drummers prefer 5A sticks for their lighter weight and greater control, while others prefer 5B sticks for their added power and reach. Ultimately, it is up to the drummer to decide which size and type of stick works best for them.
