Although this small rescue dog may not *look* maniacal, I decided to give him the name "Dingo" since I don't believe I've ever brought a wilder, more agitated dog into my house. When he is excited, he will literally spin in circles and yell, and when he is anxious, he will pace at 90 mph with a rut in the floor. Yet he is affectionate, cuddly, and generally peaceful when I am present. When left home alone (with the other dog), even for brief periods of time, training, rigorous daily exercise, a regular schedule, an older companion dog that serves as an incredible role model, and at least one of every type of dog toy known to man did not keep him happy. He would become fearful and attempt to escape from his crate, which he loves to lounge in while I'm home. Then there was peeing (in a dog that otherwise seemed to have learned to use the potty), frantic barking, that yodeling (poor neighbors), and destruction—mostly to my window curtains and couch pillows. The going got really difficult when I had to return to work in order to be able to fill the dog's plates with food after taking a week off to introduce the new puppy to my home and create a routine. It wasn't enough to play fetch for 90 minutes at the dog park before work, hire a dog walker, and plan to extend my lunch break each day to spend extra time at home in the middle of the day. I couldn't believe how distressed he was in his new surroundings, so I tried EVERYTHING to make him feel better, stopping just short of the prescription drugs our veterinarian recommended or enrolling him in doggie daycare, which I really wanted to do for him. However, it turns out that in this rural area, doggie daycare is simply day boarding, where the dog spends the entire day in a kennel with a small outdoor run with little to no interaction. For a dog in a shelter, that seemed counterproductive! Perhaps I should have used medication, but I really didn't want to give my dog any drugs. After two and a half months, we have accomplished a great deal. While Adaptil undoubtedly isn't a panacea, I do think that as part of a regular routine, it has helped this rescue feel confident and trusting enough in his new home to halt the accidents and the damage, and I no longer question how I can ever possibly be able to make this situation work. He is by no means "calm," as that is not his disposition, but he is also no longer completely out of control. Maybe that adaptation was already taking place when I tried Adaptil, or maybe it was the Adaptil itself. Not easy to say. I stopped using the other ways since I didn't see any change, but I've bought more Adaptil because I think it gave me a chance in what seemed like an impossible circumstance. In any case, it seems worthwhile to keep trying to offer him every advantage I can at $20 a month.

I was hesitant to test these because of this. They cost $30 per bag at the daycare center we use, so I was glad to discover them here for this price simply to give them a try. They have a fragrance, which the dog like, but to me it simply smells like vitamins.We have been using them for three months on a female boxer shepherd mix dog who weighs 52 pounds and is three years old and extremely leash reactive. Since I have been purchasing Composure for years, I find it difficult to understand the criticisms of it. It's fantastic, and allow me to explain why. I only have rescues, and they are all socially awkward and arrived with medical problems. The vet examined her from head to tail, including her deformed backbone, her tiny ears with extra-hard cartilage, her blue eyes, and mouth with razor-sharp-needle-teeth, and took her temperature before giving her two vaccination injections the following year.
