I've purchased three of these homes, and I adore them! They cost a fraction of what pet stores' igloo houses do yet are just as sturdy! My dogs are BIG and like to chew because I have two Great Pyrenees mixes, a Caucasian Shepherd, three Caucasian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mixes, a Husky, and a Pittie. Two of these houses have been in my dogs' possession for well over a year, and they are still as sturdy as they were when they were first delivered. My dogs enjoy to sit on top of their houses and "defend" the backyard. My dogs have nibbled on the sides when they've been bored, and I have no trouble sitting on top of them despite weighing over 200 pounds. When we previously bought them pricey, nice-looking wooden homes, they promptly damaged and chewed them up. If you have huge breed dogs as I do, I would definitely recommend this house.

It was exactly like the dog house. To secure the raised floor area, I replaced the black "sheetrock-type" screws with four stronger ones. (comparable to the plated screws used in the end walls' tops). Additionally, I attached 3/8" thick by 1/2" wide adhesive backed foam (available in 10' rolls) to the front and rear building walls as well as the contact edges of the roof to assist limit air movement. I also added silicone caulking inside the floor area where the four walls attach. (Nothing was added so that it can still drain through the channels in the floor.) Not bad for the money invested...

To install inside my house, I bought this dog house. My 9-year-old female Jack Russell Terrier is scared of loud noises (thunder, fireworks, loud cars, etc.). She has been trying to "hidden" for years by scratching at doors and walls. Most recently, she has been trying to hide in the bottom drawer of our new gas stove after learning how to open it. We took great care to safeguard our walls and doors; in order to prevent her from doing any damage, we had to install protective wall covering and install metal door liners. We also erected a half door between our kitchen and living room to prevent her from entering there unless we are home to supervise her. We were very concerned that she would inadvertently damage herself while looking for cover. Since we had no other options, we bought this dog home in the hopes that she would use it as a place to hide when she felt frightened. We have been encouraging her to enter the house so she can discover that she is permitted to do so and lay down. She isn't interested at this time. We are only waiting for the first dreadful event to occur to see if she will seek refuge in the house at that point. To let everyone know how the house is doing, I will give an update.

For the price ($60 when we bought it), this dog house is excellent and deserves higher stars. Although it isn't ideal, nothing else in this price range that I saw even came close to it in terms of aesthetics, size, or simplicity.It truly does look beautiful and snaps together quickly and easy. The plastic is solid and strong without being overly thick or heavy, making it easy to carry the assembled house.Ours has already endured considerable punishment in the few months we've had it, but it still looks excellent. Our German Shepherd/Lab mix puppy, who is 3 1/2 months old, loves to go inside his house and aggressively (and very noisily) smash his stuffed animals into the walls. Additionally, as you can see from the attached photo, the roof is sturdy enough to hold a 10-year-old girl's weight in an emergency. Both my 14-year-old daughter and my 11.5-year-old son have kindly confirmed that they can fit within this house. Actually, I believe a child or two from the neighborhood has also visited. It seems like kids adore this place as well.I would suggest a hard, flat surface for this, preferably in a protected area, as we have ours sitting on a brick porch, which aids with stability. Although we haven't had this through a winter yet, so far this summer it hasn't turned into a furnace, and even though our puppy is presently enjoying a phase of "I'm a free wild thing and sleep in the dirt," he still occasionally goes inside his house.The only little issue I have is that I wish they had added a small overhang above the door to assist divert rainwater that could otherwise have seeped in. We haven't even attempted to install the provided door flaps yet because I know our dog will pull them off and eat them, but I can't really hold that against the manufacturer. Without the flaps, the rain would inevitably blow into the open door because we frequently see severe storms in this area. Be prepared to have a Plan B in case of severe winds and rain if your dog, like mine, cannot be trusted to behave sensibly and leave door flaps alone. However, it maintains its tight seal and dryness without leaking under less intense downpours.The bottom line is that for the price, you just can't beat this simple, no-frills doghouse of decent quality.

fantastic dog house acquired two. They could fit in one if they wanted to, but they would have to really enjoy cuddling! Hold our 85-pound lab and 94-pound husky mix separately. We loved that the door and it are both tall. They readily enter and exit. the higher floor that prevents water from entering. To secure a thick shag rug in place that we can remove for cleaning while preventing sag, we employed strong Velcro strips. a great value. Why people complained about flooring that has four supports and doesn't give way under the weight of our dogs is beyond me.

Obtain this dog house just recently. It is undoubtedly constructed of inferior plastic, but after assembly, which took only ten minutes and required no special equipment or parts, it surprisingly stands up rather well. It seems to be the ideal size for my 75-lb Pitbull or any other smaller dog. A dog weighing 100 pounds might not even be able to fit through the entrance, so I wouldn't say that they would truly appreciate it. Additionally, I don't believe this will hold up if your dog is disruptive or has a tendency to destroy houses. You should have no issues if your dog is relaxed or older like mine. It seems to hold up well as long as it is on a sturdy base (Like bricks or something), but I haven't got a chance to test how it keeps up against thunderstorms or strong wind currents. Through the front and back vents as well as all of the roof connections, there is ventilation. It may not seem perfect for locations that experience extreme cold (below 40 degrees), but for me, living in Houston, Texas, where summer temperatures can reach 115 degrees with 100% humidity, it is crucial. Overall, I'd say it's worth the money, and my dog loves it a lot. My only gripe is that I never got my letters asking him to put his name on the house. He is unknown at this time.ADVANCED 8/8/2017The house has survived a variety of bad weather conditions, including intense rain, high temperatures, and 100% humidity. There are no cracks or leaks. Doorstops still function. However, I'd like to point out that the home is incredibly light, which means your dog could probably push it about with some effort. A porch, which can get pounded by rain quite hard but not nearly as severe as if it were fully exposed in a yard, is where I keep this house, which is another thing I'd like to note. If you want something that strong, you're going to need to look at some fairly expensive houses or DIY projects because the plastic on this house is far too cheap to sustain that type of beating. However, it remains the ideal choice if you're searching for an inexpensive huge dog home that can be placed under a roof or somewhere else where it won't be directly exposed to inclement weather.NEWS 12/5/2017It is just as clean as the day I received it and is still standing strong (Well for plastic). The house is excellent at keeping cool in the summer, but as I had expected, it is awful in the winter. Overall, a beautiful dog house, however the roof does not come off, unlike what is said in the description. Okay, in principle, if one wanted to remove a lot of screws and didn't mind the entire thing disassembling, one could take it off. Therefore, it truly doesn't work. Nevertheless, the doorway is quite large, so I don't see why it would be challenging to wash it out that way. Assembling was simple enough when you followed the pictures. Even if a few screw holes weren't properly aligned, this wasn't too problematic. Though I doubt it would be fully waterproof, that is not a concern for me because I'm utilizing the house underneath a patio. I wish a door flap was provided.

I had to make sure the house wasn't the wrong size before we removed it from the box. This home appears to be "mid" sized rather than enormous. The aperture is 14.5 inches tall, so keep that in mind when measuring your dog for the home (I see that they have now updated the dimensions to the Amazon listing; they are accurate). I purchased the Large for my 28-inch (paw to top of shoulder), 85-lb German Shepherd mix since even if he tried, he couldn't fit inside the home (and he tried). My lab is 21 inches tall, and she easily fits through the Large house's opening. She wouldn't have fit in a smaller home, and I'm not sure our German Shepherd would fit in an X-large. Just so you know, our dogs are really thin, not fat. The house, which is ideal for our Lab, will remain in our possession. Aside from the size, the house is exceptionally well made, very well insulated, and of outstanding quality. In Northern California, it finally rained, and I made sure the house didn't leak so that everything stayed nice and dry inside. Since we are approaching winter and I will be better able to assess how well it withstands the elements, I will update this post in a few months on durability. Pictures showing my Lab inside the house, me measuring the opening, my GS attempting to enter, and the label on the actual house have all been added.

Precision is a name that perfectly describes the product. Would definitely suggest this dog housing. The assembly was foolproof. Each component was marked FRONT, BACK, LEFT, or RIGHT, and the installation instructions specified where each bolt and screw should be placed. Product is very professional. There was only one little finish nail that did not sit properly in the room component, but that nail issue was fixed once the roof piece was attached with the provided screws.Product composed of lightweight, bug-resistant cedar that has a pleasant scent.We also purchased the insulation kit, which only took three minutes to install. It took 15 minutes to assemble the cabin!
