I startled me when I discovered that one package contained two collars when I bought these for my two dogs. Everyone has commented on how these collars smell, which initially has a strong citronella scent. However, after the first day, you start to notice how nice and subdued the collars smell. Since we don't have strong freezes in North Carolina, our outside dog is totally coated in fleas almost the entire year. Nothing has worked despite our attempts to treat him with Frontline, Capstar, Program, Advantage, flea collars, flea shampoos, flea spray around the barn where he stays, diatomaceous earth, brewers yeast and garlic, cedar oil, and cedar chip bedding. Even maize oil, which barely worked for a day or two, was used to cover and smother the fleas. These are immortal and zombie fleas, in my opinion. Additionally, the distressed dog was scratching.I was hesitant to spend $50 on a possible dud flea collar, but I took a chance and got this Seresto collar. I'm amazed—we only placed it on the dog two days ago! We saw that the fleas on his front half of his body had disappeared the first day. Nose to tail tip, we didn't find a single live flea on him today. On him, we did see some dead ones. This is the first item we've ever discovered that eliminated or killed fleas! For the first time in months, he was lying contentedly in the sun this morning without scratching or twitching.Since the collar was effective, I also bought one for our indoor cat and small dog, both of which have fleas (but not as many). This collar is doing admirably. I couldn't bear it when my 13-year-old golden retriever Roxy developed fleas all of a sudden. She had severe ones this year for whatever reason. We reside in a humid, moist environment that is close to water. Every time I've given her a flea shampoo bath, they come back in about two days.I thus purchased her this collar.She had dead fleas in her fur right away. And right now, she is completely flea-free.She's worn this collar for a week now. She was wearing it as I showered her, and that had no impact on the outcome.This flea collar has made me very pleased. It immediately destroyed the ones that were already on her and has since stopped any new ones from adhering. OCT. 11, 2019 UPDATE — Despite being marketed as a long-lasting collar, the aroma does not linger very long and seems to stop working as effectively after a month.As soon as this collar arrived in the mail, I put it on my 2-year-old cat. She has a flea allergy and the vet won't let her have medicines, so I've been putting flea powder and sprays on her, but they are ineffective. After applying this to her neck, she was back to normal within two hours—no more scratching or cowering in a corner! In my cat, I saw a significant shift in hours!
