This paw washer was just sent today, and I already used it! WOW, this wash cup is just incredible! I brought the cup for our walk today with my Wheaten/Poodle mix, who weighs 20 pounds and has long, curly hair. Since it has been raining, the ground is soggy and muddy. ideal period for testing. I filled the cup approximately two-thirds of the way full from one of those tiny water bottles, which was plenty to prevent spilling. Although the directions advise to spin it, I kind of moved her paw up and down instead because it seemed to work better. It comes with a little towel that is incredibly absorbent. As a veterinarian, I should probably disclaim that I know way too much about brushes and other grooming tools.Slicker brushes and I have always had a love-hate relationship. I love them because they're comfy and effective, but I HATE them because they're so difficult to clean without breaking the delicate bristles or bending them so that they puncture the animal.I now have a senior cat with lengthy hair who has twice had to undergo anesthesia for the removal of large hairballs. The last time, his Internal Medicine expert sent him a prescription for a haircut. We have therefore been undergoing a rigorous hair management regimen, although he detests being brushed. I therefore frequently switch out brushes and combs. My go-to device is the Furminator, however my biggest complaints with it are that the cat finds it uncomfortable (at times, it tugs on his skin excessively), and that even on the long-haired version, the blades nearly always fill with hair after each swipe. The blade is simple to clean, but it is challenging to do it while holding a wriggling, irritated cat in one hand. But with every swipe, it unquestionably removes the most undercoat and shed hair.While still removing a respectable amount of lost hair, this brush is 10 times more comfortable for my cat. Cleaning it is AMAZING – all you have to do is hit the button, pull the hair off the pad, and it doesn't fill up until about halfway through brushing. Although it doesn't remove as much hair as the Furminator, the fact that he doesn't get irritated right away allows me to brush for longer and provide him a more pleasant experience.
