Our 35 mm with telephoto lens was left on the counter while we were on a trip outside the nation. Ugh. My original idea was to have Amazon ship a camera to our first destination. That was wonderful, but I had to carefully weigh our options based on how much money I was willing to pay. My main goal was to make it unnecessary for us to use our phones as cameras because I wanted them to have greater battery life, more zoom, and be simpler to transfer to my laptop. Despite being a fairly small camera, it achieved those goals. In fact, the flash drive transfer technique made downloading more simpler than anticipated. The camera comes with everything you need, is simple to operate, and takes reasonably excellent pictures. We are happy, however I will leave the technical discussion of shot quality to the more experienced photographers. This camera will be our go-to option when we don't want to lug along bulkier photography equipment.

This offer from Beach Camera was fantastic! The features of this Nikon Coolpix B500 are fantastic. Even though I'm not a camera person, I love taking pictures, and this works great. It's similar to a step up from a point-and-click, but it has a fantastic lens with close-up zoom. Because my husband loved my previous one so much, I thought he should have his own, so I purchased him one for his birthday. (Not that I mind sharing, but it seems to me that we shouldn't have to wait our time to use this fantastic camera when we're together and attempting to snap pictures.)I was quite pleased with this seller's entire bundle. There are so many wonderful extras provided that aren't often included when buying a camera. The bag is an excellent camera bag that can be adjusted to hold about anything you could need. I appreciate that they provided both a long tripod and a huge spider tripod. Additionally, they supplied a 64GB memory card, which was a thoughtful addition. Both the cleaning equipment and a USB memory card reader were provided. They also added four rechargeable batteries and a charger in addition to the four cells that included with the basic camera. This camera was a terrific buy in my opinion, and my husband adores his new gadget!

Okay. I awarded it five stars since I adore the camera and didn't feel compelled to lower my rating due to what the listing claims. Additionally, I was unable to enter 4.5. But any potential buyer should be aware that the listing claims it has "64" of something memory-related. It's unclear what 64 of are. Kbites, Mbites, Gbites, raw fish, or tooth faerie poop are all possible possibilities. The future? Actually, there is NADA. NADA. ZIPP. As a result, if you order one of these, make sure to purchase some memory because the camera is useless without it and it is not included. It's a good thing I'm a memory hoarder because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to use it till I ordered some.There is also no means that I can find to stream a live view from the camera into my computer screen, as you would with a web cam, and I hold Canon culpable for this. I'm not disappointed because I didn't buy it expressly to do this kind of stuff, but I do some astrophotography, and that kind of thing is lovely. In the dark, the screen is too small to determine whether one of your lenses is dirty. If you don't notice it, the photograph is ruined, and you have to wait at least a month to set up the shot again if you are trying to take a photo of the full moon and miss it.In light of those two considerations, I'm glad I purchased the camera. It's simple to read the screen. It has several capabilities that you would anticipate finding on a camera of a higher caliber for professionals. Once you've spent around fifteen minutes studying the handbook, the menus should be quite simple to understand. It should be noted that the handbook is only provided as a quick start reference; the full version must be downloaded. The exposure is a little bit too high in Auto mode when taking some pictures, like the moon, but I haven't yet found a setting that would fix that. As it is quite simple to take control of the majority of the other settings, it is simple enough to fix that kind of issue in Program mode.A picture is worth a thousand words more, so I used my telescope to capture the video of the moon that is attached.Since I just acquired it yesterday, I'm still experimenting with it, but I'll update this if I have any additional thoughts.

Okay. I gave it 5 stars because I love the camera itself and don't feel I should downgrade my review because of what the listing says. Also it wouldn't let me put in four and a half. So if you order one of these be sure to buy some memory because it is not included and the camera would be useless without it. Good thing I'm a bit of a memory hog and bought a "extra" or I wouldn't have been able to use it at all until I ordered some.Another small thing that it won't do (and I hold Canon blameless for this) is that there is no way that I can find to put a live view from the camera onto my computer screen—as you would do with a web cam. I didn't buy it specifically to do this kind of thing so I'm not let down but I do a bit of astrophotography and that kind of thing is nice. The screen is too small to tell if there is dirt on one of your lenses in the dark. It ruins the shot if you don't notice it and when you are trying to shoot a picture of the full moon and don't catch it you have to wait at least a month to set the shot up again.With those two things in mind it's a pretty good camera and I'm happy I got it. The screen is easy to read. It's got a lot of the features that you would expect to find on a more professional grade camera. The menus are fairly intuitive once you've spent fifteen minutes or so with the manual. I should be noted that you do have to download the manual itself because it only comes with a quick start guide. In Auto mode while shooting some pictures, like the moon for example, the exposure is a bit too high but I suspect there is a setting that would fix that, which I haven't found yet. In Program mode it's easy enough to correct that kind of problem, as it is pretty easy to take control of most of the other settings.I shot the attached video of the moon through my telescope because a picture is worth a thousand more words.I'm still experimenting with it because I just got it yesterday but I'll update this if I think of anything else.

As a beginner photographer, I have three DSLR cameras and a variety of lenses. That collection does not, however, do away with the requirement for a practical object for merely daily necessities. I keep this one in particular in the glove compartment of my car as a backup for situations that call for something greater than my cell phone camera. It satisfies and even exceeds my expectations for that purpose. Still, a DSLR-level quality (such as background blurring, a fast shutter speed, excellent low-light performance, etc.) should not be anticipated from this snapshot device given its modest price.Pros:-Slim and lightweight design that fits into tight locations and has a premium look and feel.-USB charging capability: For me, this is a selling factor. I keep it in my car and don't want to have to take the trouble of taking out the battery and charging it separately, which necessitates lugging about the charging adaptor and having access to a socket. Instead, all I have to do is plug it into my 12V automobile USB charger, and it immediately builds up a healthy amount of charge level. It comes with a detachable USB cord and a wall adaptor (5V 0.5A) (so you can use the cable and attach it to any USB charger). However, take caution with the USB cable. This type does not support the common USB-micro B cable used to charge the majority of mobile devices. A USB-UC E6 cable is required if you need a spare or replacement.-Easy menu mode: A snapshot device should be primarily practical, and even my grandfather could navigate this menu. One of the easiest user interfaces I've come across thus far.-Panoramic shoot capability: I wasn't expecting that. That was such a helpful service because I hadn't studied the product description in thoroughly before purchasing. With my DSLR, I used to shoot dozens of images, stitching them together with a software program, which was challenging and time-consuming. This program accomplishes it instantly and generates images of equivalent quality.-5X optical zoom: In terms of zooming, less is frequently more in photography. Even the greatest lenses don't have any zoom. Zoom is necessary for a useful tool like this, though, and a suitable optical zoom range is 5X. (it is also critical that you compare the optical zoom capacities of devices and not the digital zoom before making a judgement.)-Image quality: As I mentioned before, it falls short of a DSLR in terms of quality, and the high pixel size is unimportant to me. Although it is usually preferable to get a low MP device for crisper images for cameras with small sensor sizes, such as snapshot cameras, this one is actually quite good, especially in daytime. HD video quality is also excellent but is again affected by lighting...-Price: The $78 asking price as of August 2014 places it among the most cost-effective snapshot cameras available. Although occasionally you can find greater prices, this one is nevertheless extremely alluring.Cons:-Low light performance: I want to emphasize once more that I do not anticipate this device to provide professional-level quality, but I did find the low light performance to be at best mediocre. Even with flash, the noise was somewhat grating.-Slow shutter speed: The camera offers a continuous shooting mode that, as long as the shutter button is engaged, is designed to capture several frames quickly. However, the refractory time between shoots on this device is so long that using that mode is not even worthwhile. To see some multiple shooting effects, you must drop the image quality three steps, which is not worthwhile. Therefore, you don't have much of a choice but to snap many shots and make a decision later whether you want to take a picture of a flying bird, a person jogging, or a passing car.-Zoom buttons: It would be more handy for me if the zoom controls were located below the shutter button in a ring-style design.-No optical viewfinder: This is an issue with all models, not just this one. The only thing you get with the majority of modern cameras in place of an optical viewfinder is a digital image on the screen that you can use to fine-tune your shot before you take it. In the beginning, it doesn't feel like snapping a picture, but more significantly, the digital screen viewfinder uses up battery life and performs poorly in bright light.-Video focusing sound: If the environment is quiet and you are capturing video of an object that is close to you, the sound of focus changes can be heard in the background of your recording. However, as I previously stated, that is only apparent in complete quiet and for close-range recordings.Your expectations will determine whether or not you like it overall. I find it to be a practical, reliable device with several really helpful functions. I'm happy with my buy.
