The best tongs I've ever owned are these. I first bought the 12-inch size, but I ended up buying the 9-inch and 16-inch sizes as well to finish the set because I loved it so much. I heartily suggest these tongs because they are some of my favorite kitchen implements.Many of the tongs I've owned have warped, melted, broken, performed poorly when trying to hold food, etc. I wasn't able to purchase quality tongs in part because I was on a tight budget. After buying a very good set of pots and pans, I bought these tongs. I didn't want anyone to use any of the metal-tipped tongs I had on my new pots and pans. These are excellent. The can easily grasp food. It is ideal to have three different sizes depending on what I am making. The biggest one was used on the grill by my husband, and it still looks brand new. (But I instructed him to use the tongs intended for the grill!) The lock's poor holding power would be the only drawback. They have occasionally popped open for me, but given how wonderful they are to use, I can live with that. They complement the other pieces in my utensil holder nicely. They wash up nicely. No rust issues have been reported thus far. Although I don't wash mine in the dishwasher, I can't think of any reason you couldn't. I truly enjoy this package as a whole. I'd suggest them to everyone.

I've owned a set of non-locking tongs for a very long time. As I try to (re)organize my utensil drawer, I started to wonder, "Why am I still keeping around these chintzy tongs that don't fit neatly in a drawer (and sometimes jam it up when opening), let alone the sharp edges at the business end that, for example, tear up my whole spatchcocked chicken on the grill when I try to turn it?" Unbelievably, I use these tongs to gather dog poop from my yard and place it in a bag for disposal. I don't have to bend over and go too near to the "junk" thanks to the long handle. Simple to clean off, and you can store them outside with the dog poop bags. These tongs are heavy-duty and appear to be built to last. When I'm done using the tongs, I enjoy that they can be locked. For this use, I'm really delighted with them. And yeah, I'm sure they'd be wonderful for a barbecue, but I won't be using these for that. lol

For grilling, I use one pair (the shorter pair), and the other pair works great as reachers. The right length and the larger "business end" allow for the safe and simple picking up of a variety of objects, including anything from an earring to a heavy jar or can. These tongs are of excellent quality. OXO culinary tools are among my favorites, and the tongs are no exception. I have barbecue tongs in the following sizes: 9, 12, and 18. My preferred choice when I'm cooking is the 12" silicone-tipped model, I've got to admit. All meals may be handled easily with it, and neither the silicone handles nor the silicone tips will transmit heat to nonstick frying pans. They can be opened with one hand by giving the hangle a slight push and putting the ring to your hip, making them perfect for using in a busy kitchen. I bought them to utilize as a novelty item in an effort to make mealtime enjoyable and pique my toddlers' interest in unfamiliar (or not-so-novel, but suddenly-hated) foods. Despite the fact that these are a little difficult for the kids to use right now (they aren't quite 2 and don't yet grasp how to use tongs - we'll work on it! ), utilizing them with my assistance inspired one of them to consume a full plate of baked white fish! They turned out fantastic! The fact that the tiny hands appear to be extremely securely linked impressed me. If frequent washings or use have an effect on the quality, I'll update the review. So these were more of an impulsive purchase than something we were looking for.I was already aware that they were brief because I had read numerous evaluations.
